I stayed here for a few days since there isnt much to do. The streets are loud, dirty, with heavy traffic, and broken sidewalks. There is public transit but its also fine to walk everywhere just be ready to walk in front of cars. Theres a lot of shopping stalls for produce and a modern mall with set prices and lovely staff. Places do close early and google maps isnt always accurate on times open. Im a small white woman and felt incredibly safe even walking alone at night. Men seemed to avoid me walking quickly past on side walks and turning away on elevators. Some people wore shorts but this is an islamic country, just cover up and show respect. It seemed more people spoke French than Arabic and very few people spoke any English, but it was more common with younger people especially at the mall. Taxi drivers might turn you away if you show an address or directions on your phone simply because they're not used to it. Some were very determined to be helpful. The food was shockingly bad. i expected falafel and cous cous and mostly found burgers, tacos, and pizza without any flavor. It was hard to find menus online and harder to find in english. I had internet at my airbnb with no issues streaming movies and doing basic computer work. basic netflix doesnt work here. overall the trip wasnt great but it was still worth a few days to check out a less touristy part of morocco. just dont let this be the only city.
