I got scammed by a fake "Honda" dealership listed here on Google Maps in Bogotá: https://g.co/kgs/t4vpzkz

They look legit with lots of good reviews, but it's all fake. I transferred money for a motorcycle and never received anything — they used real-looking invoices, insurance, and even pretended to be from Avianca Cargo. Total scam.

I lost $7,000 CAD in this scam lol.

I’ve already filed reports with the police, embassy, and the bank, but we need to get this Google Maps listing taken down ASAP to prevent others from falling for it.

Please help by:

1. Leaving a 1-star review explaining it’s a scam.
2. Clicking the “Suggest an edit” > “Close or remove” > “Doesn’t exist here” to flag the listing.

It's better to stay in the north. From Chapinero to Usaquen it's safe and you have nice/fancy bar/restaurants.

Yes you will be close, you have a lof of club / bars in the beginning of Chapinero and in different area the more north you go.

But for the accommodation it's better more up north. I was staying next to Theatron club, it's better to take something a bit more in the north, Theatron area is like the border between the hood and the normal area there 😅

Barcelona (house especially), Amsterdam (all genres), and Bangkok (festivals) had a decent amount as well. Depends on the genre, as most people think EDM just refers to shuffling influencer festival music. For me, when I see the term, I think 'electronic dance music', and my genres are more deep house, house, downtempo, nu disco, etc. The UK is way up on the list for all genres, especially UKG, house, trance, techno. Berlin for obvious reasons regarding the latter...

I wouldn't recommend, the government says it's safe but few locals actually do. Unless you're in a hotel and they tell you explicitly that it's safe, better buy some bottled water to drink

uhm, local here. I and most (all?) people I know drink it. some people just preferred bottle, but unless you're in the north near a mining town, it is safe.

interesting I thought most of us would agree that the current setup sucks thanks for sharing your opinion. That’s one of my points: it’s a recurring of same questions and those generous people that replied back then can’t keep doing it again and again (that too for free or with no status/whatsoever forming in the community). Those questions also get mixed up with more real-time things and/or coordination for meetups/events -> it’s a mess

More and more people also pop-in, ask a question, get the answer (sometime don’t even thank) and vanish without creating any long-term value as a community

Agreed with you Circle it’s a great option we are using it in our startups for customers to connect with each and they love it! (and the bill should be nowhere close to Slack’s one even at the scale of this community)

I mean honestly it’s not that much different than it was during slack in terms of community. But meetups have fallen off in telegram for some reason

There must be some in patagonia and Bariloche. Maybe join the patagonia tourist groups on FB. You’ll find some digital nomads but maybe not exactly nomad community per se. I stayed like a month in Patagonia, did W Trek and all… ran into some solo women on the trek but they’re not all digital nomads. I may have joined some activity groups in santiago i can dig up for you as well.

For sure, good to be skeptical, but it doesn't sound totally impossible (you could probably set up a UK company online from any country).

I use a virtual address for my business which is run by Expathub (which are legit / the branded option in the market and might charge something like what you've found). But I did at least some of the registration in person.
