Tehran offers a unique and enriching travel experience for visitors who are open to navigating some logistical challenges. The affordability of food, accommodation, and general expenses is a major attraction, making it budget-friendly for most travelers. Locals are consistently described as very friendly, helpful, and welcoming, often going out of their way to assist visitors—which makes for a warm and hospitable environment. The food scene receives high praise, with many ranking it as one of the highlights of their trip.
There are, however, several limitations to be aware of. Internet access is a significant issue unless you have a VPN; ExpressVPN is commonly recommended as a reliable choice. International banking systems do not work in Iran, so carrying enough local currency is necessary. The country's religious and cultural rules should also be considered: women must wear hijabs, and there’s virtually no nightlife. While Tehran's north side offers a higher standard of living, it's also more expensive.
Overall, Tehran is a good city for a short and affordable cultural visit. Travelers should be well-prepared for connectivity and financial limitations, but the rewards in hospitality, cuisine, and cultural depth make it worthwhile.

You'll be surprised how people are welcoming. Food is the best thing. Everything is cheap.
But consider govt is religous, woman have to wear hijab. I think safety is not that bad, just don't go outside very late, there isn't night life there at all and watch out when you use your mobile in street.
Before going there, get a vpn subscription from ExpressVpn (it works great), without vpn internet is nearly useless.
It's a great place for a short visit, but not recommended for a long time stay.
No internatianal banking system works there!
North areas are more expensive and better.

Tehran is a great city and much more developed that I thought. However, those intrepid nomads willing to come should be aware that internet and currency situation isn't the best because of international sanctions.
Iranian people are really nice, educated, welcoming and hard-working, you'll make brothers and sisters here, not only friends. Food scene is great and subway system is surprisingly good. Airbnb doesn't work here but I recommend talking to people through Couchsurfing, some of them will be able to recommend you places or even host you for very reasonable fees. Iran is an amazing country and I do recommend explore the rest of the country -- it's safe, cheap and fun!

Disgusting treatment towards women, it's filthy and hygiene is basic. Don't visit a place like this. There is nothing to do, Internet is appalling. Its just a really bad place to visit never mind live.
