April in Spain. Where to go besides Canary Islands

Hi, we are trying to find a house to rent for 2-3 persons near Las Palmas for 4-5 months at the moment and it seems to be almost impossible except through Airbnb which is super expensive. Any advises or local contacts?

Does anyone ever travel to any Islands like Bermuda, Barbados, Barbuda and St. Kitts & Nevis?

I’m looking to spend 1-3 months in Alicante or Valencia this fall and would like to take a Spanish class there.

Any digital nomads that have lived for an extended period of time on a pacific island? I am planning on moving with my girlfriend for a 6 month period to a pacific island, and planning to live of copywriting and some other online work.

Have been looking at islands like Samoa, Tonga, Fiji, Cook Islands ++. Main problem is that many places seem to have expensive/bad internet speeds and access.

I dont´t need superfast internet, but it has to be good enough for me to surf, send e-mails, download pictures, update webpages and so on. Either good internet cafes or the possibility to rent appartments with internet that doesnt suck or blow our budget.

Any recommendations for the perfect pacific island for working online?

Hey guys! We are going to be arriving in the Canary Islands (Spain) soon and are looking for a small/medium sized town to set up in for a while (~2 months). I’m sure Las Palmas is great, but we want to hear if any of you have experience with some of the smaller towns specifically. We are missing fresh air and nature so that’s an important consideration for us. Of course, overall affordability, decent internet, and access to good grocery options are important too, but DN meetups/socializing opportunities aren’t as important for us this time around.

I landed a remote job that is fully remote with only one team skype meeting a week. I’m looking to leave around March 13th and stay 1 - 3 months in each place. The first place I want somewhere that is warm with good surf. For the group video chat I need at least 5/2 down/up reliable internet. Any recommendations for a place that meets that end of March - April?

I’ve read through the forums / nomads list. I’ve already done Costa Rica and Indo and would like to try somewhere new. Currently looking at Sayuliata Mexico, Canary Islands, and Morocco though I think I’ll wait on the second two since they sound like they are better in the fall.

I’m looking for somewhere to spend July in northern Spain. (Not that it matters but June we’re in Paris, August in Porto).

I’ve spent time in small Italian villages and loved the experience. I’m hoping to find something like that but in coastal Spain, I just don’t know the area at all yet. Suggestions?

Has anyone stayed in Barcelona longer than 3 months as a nomad?

I realise UK citizens have to apply for a NIE number if they are staying longer than 3 months in Spain. But can you actually get an NIE number while working in Spain for a UK company?

My company is registered in the UK so I will be remote working from Spain, don’t want to setup as a freelancer or sold trader in Spain as it will only be a temporary pit stop for 3-6 months.

so I’ve heard many great things about the Canary Islands but only from people who are not digital nomads. I’ve been on Tenerife in February 2011 and 2012, but only as a tourist (and with a student budget living at a friends house, so very different experience) and I saw a lot of old people. People say the same about Gran Canaria, especially in the winter, since a lot of the German and British retirees overwinter there.

Everything I read about especially the biggest city Las Palmas de Gran Canaria is more or less about the city, the food, the beaches, the weather, the nature and so on but less about the people. I know I’d have to learn Spanish to speak to the locals (and I want to). I want to go somewhere at beginning of next year and LPA is on the top of my list. After my Tenerife experience and everything I read I’m sure I will like the location itself but it’s never fun if you’re somewhere alone for too long. Maybe the people who live(d) there can share their experiences about the digital nomad scene, or more specifically: How about the international crowd, are there a lot of people from say … mid 20s to mid 30s that are meeting up regularly for leisure (not work/tech related meetups)?

I’m headed there in April for 1-3 months (argh, Schengen!). So far Craigslist and Spotahome seem useful. What else is there?

Also any thoughts on neighborhoods would be great here. Right now I’m looking at Gracia which seems to be the spot. Probably avoid Barrio Gotico and Barceloneta due to masses of tourists. I’ve heard some good things about El Born… thoughts?
