Any recommendation on accommodations in Cape Town?

I would love to hear what you'd like me to build next on Nomad List, or any other product/feature feedback ideas you have.

It's been 6+ years now but I'm in this for the long term and with the boost remote work got last year it's even more exciting to work on Nomad List than ever.

What are the best places right now in the Caribbean/LatAM? (Also cheapest flights/accommodation?) Asking from the US.

As part of signing up for this website I was hoping I would come across a list of Visa and/or Residency requirements by country ideally in a table format to assist with decision making. Does anybody recommend any other websites that might present the information in this format (or Google Spreadsheet)?

I love living in walkable areas of town. I can always find them. But now I'm wondering where in the world are the most walkable places? I'm imagining walk streets (no cars), zoning allowing both business and residential, parks or beaches ,etc.

Has anyone figured out a way to get setup with a virtual number and internet connection anywhere you go?

Hi everybody. I live and work in Germany and want to go to Canary Islands for 6 months to work from there. I'm going to keep my current job, just change the "home" in the home office part of things. Are there any tax issues I have to be aware of? I was reading about becoming a residence after 183 days, thus having to pay taxes there plus my employer having to register there. Does anybody know how it works exactly? Thanks a lot!

Can anyone recommend a good accommodation website for Chiang Mai?

Winter is coming and I’m feeling the ache of travelling after being stuck in the same place since the Pandemic started. Wondering if anyone is travelling right now? If so, where are you currently located and how is the situation where you are?

I’m a South African about to become a Nomad next year. I will still be employed by a South African company and receive a salary into my FNB bank account monthly.

I will be mostly based in Serbia but plan on travelling a lot. Does anyone have any advice on the best bank account to have? Is there a way to not get charged a small fortune in ATM charges and avoid getting my account frozen for using it in lots of countries?

I’m unsure of the best way to handle things. Should I try get another bank account outside of SA (Can I even do that)? I also have a British Passport if that makes a difference.

Hi all! My girlfriend and I would like to spend a month in Cape Town in August and are researching the safest neighborhoods to live in. We’d like to get an Airbnb but we’re curious if anyone has any advice on where we should be looking? We’ve read a lot about Cape Town in our research, both good and bad. Any tips from people who have experience living in the city beyond a weekend resort stay would be great!

Hi nomads! I’m headed to Tanzania in mid-July and working my way down to Cape Town over about 2.5 months. It’s my first time in the region. Any tips or warnings for typical nomad concerns in Tanzania, Zambia, Botswana, Mozambique and South Africa?

I’m anticipating worse than usual wifi speed but any tips on connectivity would be great.

What are the best sites or strategies for accommodation? I usually use Airbnb, hostelworld or booking.com and target guesthouses in the $50/night or cheaper range. Is that realistic?

Most importantly what should we do?! I’ve already research the obvious highlights: Kilimanjaro, Serengeti, Zanzibar, Victoria Falls, etc. Any off the beaten path things to do and/or good spots to post up for a few weeks and enjoy/work?

Till November I have a house in Costa Rica with extra beds. Learning to surf but interested doing some climbing, rafting, hiking.

After November mostly likely Cape Town South Africa for a few months, getting my pilots license but also interested in motorcycle tours, surfing, anything else outdoors.

After that will be looking for a sailing adventure…

I already watch meetup, but am always looking outdoor enthusiasts who are up for more than the casual hike. Anyone in those areas want to plan something? Or do you have a site besides meetup you use?

I went to Cape Verde for a few weeks in January 2015.

Cape Verde is a pretty cool place to be, especially when it’s very cold in Europe in the winter, see my relevant post on this on What’s the best warm destinations in Europe in the winter?

However, the internet connection was not so good in most islands. I also tested a few wifi connections in different hotels & restaurants, & on different islands, but no luck, the connections were always pretty slow. Maybe I didn’t try in the right places or the right telecom companies.

Apart from the internet connection, I noticed that the quality of the infrastructures is usually quite low. Does it disqualify Cape Verde as a destination for digital nomads? I don’t know. I might simply too little knowledge about the country.
