Bucaramanga

As a female, I felt very safe here, even at night. I stayed in the Sotomayor neighborhood on Calle 48, just west of Autopista Giron. I found it to be a very safe, clean, and especially beautiful city. I was comfortable walking alone at night in areas where restaurants were open and people were out. I was out exploring while my friend worked from our Airbnb. She had no problem with the internet connection. She needs good internet because she has zoom meetings nearly every day and had no problem with that. Parque San Pio was a short walk away, and it is very pretty. It is a very walkable city for coffee and pastries, a variety of restaurants, groceries, and gyms. I also found a chiropractor within walking distance. Uber is readily available, and we felt comfortable with that, too.

It also seemed to be a very family friendly city. There didn't seem to be s lot of night life, just a handful of restaurants open late and people sitting out on the patio so if your are looking for the nightclub scene, you will probably be bored here. I didn't meet anyone who spoke English. They were very friendly and patient with me as I fumbled thru my Spanish. The weather is perfect; there is very little fluctuation between the highest and lowest temps. During the day, it was never warm enough to need air conditioning and at night you can still wear T-shirts outside. Utility bills are probably very low as heating and air conditioning are almost never needed. The scores here on this site are quite inconsistant with how I experienced Bucaramanga.

Stayed adjacent to the Sotomayor neighborhood. Felt the safest here vs Medellin and Bogota, even while walking outside in the wee hours to smoke. Very friendly and hospitable people. Lots to do in and surrounding the city. Good places to eat are plentiful and scattered about. Try the hormigas culonas if in season on your visit.
