The city offers warm weather year-round with plenty of beaches and an active party scene, especially in international neighborhoods which are considered relatively safe. It’s an affordable place to stay, especially if you can secure a long-term rental, which is much cheaper than Airbnb. However, closing long-term rental deals can be tricky, as many landlords prefer in-person, cash transactions and often won’t finalize agreements remotely. There are a lot of available properties, but securing one may take extra effort.

Internet speed is decent for remote work, but during the hot season, the extremely high humidity—up to 90% even at 28°C—makes it uncomfortable to work without proper air conditioning. In the rainy season, while the temperature drops slightly below 30°C, the air quality worsens significantly. Opening windows may result in visible indoor pollution, as dust and soot accumulate quickly. These seasonal issues can affect comfort and livability, particularly for longer stays.
