Hi there, my name is Ryan Jennings from New Zealand and I discovered DN through Pieter on Twitter. Although I have travelled SEA on and off since 2002, this was the first time I saw a brand around the work lifestyle. I got excited.
A friend of mine from San Fran meet up in Thailand regularly, discuss projects and ideas in between working on our clients back home. This time, we have decided to stay longer. I met some great DNโs at the Bangkok meet up and thoroughly recommend getting to one. Face to face networking is a great shortcut to building trust, discovering ideas and for finding the right tech skills. The last one is the one I want to talk about, because itโs why Iโm here. To discover DNโs that I can find projects for in Aus / NZ in Ecommerce on Wordpress and digital marketing opportunities that grow what I already do back home.
As I write this on Koh Samui, I have a question for the community:
Nomads Iโve met so far have already proven theyโve got good skills. Whatโs the best way to find people by skill set and availability in the Nomad group?
The meet up was great, and I had follow up 1:1 meets with two devs. The slack forum popped out a WP dev in Vietnam that my friend then visited yesterday (he happened to be travelling through on his way to get some suits made).
These are great serendipitous moments, but sometime in April, I will head back to NZ and would like a repeatable process (or at least a connector within DN) that can source new talent for projects without me getting on a plane every time.
Interested in your thoughts DNโs, thanks for reading
