Galle and nearby Weligama offer a charming experience if you're looking for a coastal town with rich colonial architecture and friendly locals. There are plenty of attractions, and the overall atmosphere is tourist-friendly, with many things to do and explore nearby. The local food is quite good and better than in some larger cities like Colombo, although options may feel repetitive after a week or so.

However, for digital nomads, there are some practical challenges. Internet speeds can be decent when stable, but reliability is a recurring issue, with frequent dropouts. Power outages are also common, which can make remote work frustrating. While there are some coffee shops, many are not work-friendly, and the overall coffee scene is lacking.

I didn't stay at Galle directly. I stayed in Weligama which is a beach city half an hour ride from Galle.

The internet speed is quite decent (50mbps) but it's very unstable. I also experienced lot of electricity outages. Overall, in terms of work productivity, not the best.

Food scene is quite good, but it gets boring after a week or so. Regarding the coffee scene, it's terrible.

There is lots of fun things to do and places to see. People here are very friendly, but for me, the place is more of a tourist destination than Nomad Hotspot.
