Whats's a good place to work and surf in Bali?

Hi there, title says it all. Canadian nomad hoping to find the city/town in Portugal with great, consistent surfing, a solid coworking spot, and a fun group of young nomads. Please recommend!

My husband and I are looking for a place with nice weather, fast internet, comfortable/modern/nice housing, (hopefully walk to town/shops) and budget friendly for 2-3 months in June-July-August 2018. We are looking at Canggu, Ubud, Bali, Seminyak. I can’t seem to find a good house (the entire place) for less than $1400USD on airbnb, TripAdvisor, VRBO, or Facebook groups. Can anyone recommend a realtor or agent in Bali/Canggu/Ubud that can help me find a place that’s nice? Or if it’s just unrealistic- where in Southeast Asia (or surrounding) area would you recommend for that kind of nice town, fast internet, and good weather in June, July, August? Thank you!

I landed a remote job that is fully remote with only one team skype meeting a week. I’m looking to leave around March 13th and stay 1 - 3 months in each place. The first place I want somewhere that is warm with good surf. For the group video chat I need at least 5/2 down/up reliable internet. Any recommendations for a place that meets that end of March - April?

I’ve read through the forums / nomads list. I’ve already done Costa Rica and Indo and would like to try somewhere new. Currently looking at Sayuliata Mexico, Canary Islands, and Morocco though I think I’ll wait on the second two since they sound like they are better in the fall.

Bali was at the top of my short-list of places to go DM for 1-3 months until I saw it had the “Zyka” tag on Nomad List . I’m not super read-up on the whole state of Zyka, other than occurrences of infection being on a decline (for now), but I am a worrisome enough person about such things that it has got me reconsidering. Though, it still seems to not be stopping the rate of DMs visiting Bali…

Is there cause for large concern here, or I am just being a nut? …It’s been known to happen pretty frequently over such things

I am currently living in Medellin until February. I want to find some of people favorite spots for surfing and community. I have heard Nicaragua and Guatemala have many options.

Multiple one month or more stays in countries below the US (CA, SA, Caribbean as all?). Spanish isn’t a problem. Safety, internet, and surf are priorities. Ive heard good things about Panama and CR but they amount of gringos currently in these places is sort of a turn off (Im a gringo…but that is my preference). Budget is sub $1500/month.

So far, this is my short list:

• Canggu, Bali (already was there last year, but too busy with work then)
• Phillippines (I don’t know where yet, but I’ve read Baler might be nice)
• Mexico (but haven’t yet researched)
• Nicaragua (but haven’t yet researched)

I am considering going for 1+ month in Amed (to get more into freediving).

I need to be able to make Skype calls & other work-related tasks. I need a speed equivalent to one allowing me to watch Youtube videos.

Ubud is way more connected in comparison, so I don’t expect anything wonderful.

Wondering if anyone has done this before & if yes: what 3G
provider they used, or what cafe/restaurant/hotel had a good/reliable
enough wifi connection.

Note that I went to Amed last year & the 3G connection on the 2 providers I used at the time was terrible. That’s why I’m asking for help.

I’m hoping for some advice from people who’ve lived in Ubud or Canggu. What are the advantages and disadvantages of each place? If you’ve lived in both, which did you prefer and why? (e.g. surfing vs yoga, or varying WiFi availability, or better accommodation, or number of nomads)

About to spend 20 days in Bali, mainly to work. Looking to mingle with fellow nomad entrepreneurs.

What’s a good combination of a place to stay and cowork? Hoping the lodging place is close to the work place. I hear that riding scooters is typical in Bali, but I’m not keen. Walking distance/affordable cab rides would be great.

Not yet familiar regarding cities in Bali, so I don’t have a strong preference between Ubud, Denpasar, and Canggu. I just want whatever works best for the purpose of meeting fellow nomads who are working on their stuff.

I’d like join these exciting things into something. Got idea if there are some digital nomads who like kitesurfing and planned go to somewhere.

• Montenegro’s Hidden Coastline (Croatia’s Dalmatian coast and Albania)

• Bay of Roses / Sant Pere Pescador area 1,5 hr away from Barcelona and Castelldefels which is a beachtown-suburb of Barcelona have the best kitesurf conditions + infrastructure after Tarifa in mainland Spain
• Bali, Indonesia (cowork there! http://www.dojobali.org)
• Tenerife, Canary Islands (there was some organized trip lately, http://www.meetup.com/workoff/events/227343513/ for 80€ with flights, coworking-space + activities )

I thought it would be beneficial to have a little directory of digital nomads who surf. While I like to go surf places by myself and meet people on-location, going with fellow digital nomads on surf trips would definitely streamline everything a bit more (less partying, more surfing and working )

I am a freelance graphic designer. My biggest hassle with traveling is carrying around my Mac. I always carry a tablet (for reading) and a computer for work. The Surface Pro combines these and has the power to run my Adobe design programs. The extra space it would enable would be great.

There are a few things that worry me. The small screen, getting use to Windows and not Mac, the large price tag and just knowing if it will really be powerful enough to run my Adobe programs.

Has anyone had experience using the Surface pro? Could you recommend anything that might be better.

Hi, Im going to spend 2 month in Bali mainly in Ubud.
I’m getting a Hubud membership but don’t want to be trapped there all the time, so I want some reliable mobile connection.

So far I’ve been checking out:

• Indosat
• XL Axiata
• Telkomsel

From the coverage maps on their websites, seems they all cover pretty well the Kuta area, but but other areas not.

My usage is mainly: Github, Slack and one daily Video Call.

Do you have some recommendation on this? I was thinking on Indosat.

Would this be considered relatively safe or is it advisable a single woman stick to some other accommodation?

How do people typically handle the Bali visa situation? Is it better to just arrive and get the 30 day visa on arrival, and then figure out an extension, if desired once you’re there?

Or is it advisable to go through the process of getting the 60 day (single or multiple entry) visa ahead of time through the consulate here in the USA?

For some context, we’re not 100% sure of how long we are planning on staying thus far, and were hoping to buy tickets to our next destination while in Bali.
