I donโt know why I didnโt connect the dots earlier, but I just remembered how awesomely portable a TRX is.

Iโve worked as a personal trainer but still learning how to do the whole internet marketing / social media marketing thing.
But now I just realized I could offer in person training in Saigon to English Teachers and nomads as a stand alone product as well, just using TRX and body weight.
I was thinking it would be suspicious if I had a bunch of random sweaty people were showing up at my apartment.
But if I go to my clientsโ apartments, and bring a TRX strap and some bands in a backpack, I can give a pretty good workout with just that equipment.

Iโve been asked to and have given impromptu self defense instruction / classes before. Iโve never done it to get paid, though I imagine one could do that. No need for equipment, its just knowledge in exchange for provisions or room and board.
I am also thinking other types of trainers / coaches could be successful at this, provided they market and advertise well. Health coach, yoga instruction, martial arts / self defense instruction, cooking coach, dog training coach, maybe even language coaching would work. If you are staying a month or more in a single location, it should be pretty easy to formulate a 2-week or 4-week program, for one or more days a week, for individuals or specific sizes of groups.

[The Yoga Nomads][2] - Anne and Brandon travel the world teaching yoga as they go. Sometimes they forgo payment in exchange for free accommodation.
Not exactly what youโre looking for but they give you insight into two very different ways of working in the fitness industry and travelling.

Interesting. I was thinking about TRX also. I donโt own one, but a friend just recommend it for travel. In the past Iโve traveled with an over-the-door pull-up bar. I assemble and disassemble it each time. A bit of a pain, and more weight than the minimalists approve of, but still my favorite way to exercise on the road.
How much does the bar weigh?? I think itโs all about trade offs. If you love it and use it, then maybe itโs worth it. That PLUS TRX might be overkill-- but I donโt know what your travel style is.

Iโm not a personal trainer but I am involved in the industry - I design and build websites for fitness professionals.
Just wanted to suggest an idea for a potential business that might fit well with the nomad lifestyle: Iโm currently working on a paid subscription website where members pay a fee to have access to exclusive content. I feel like this format could very easily be tailored to any kind of market - from nomads to housewives - thereโs a lot of markers out there who could make a lot of progress without weights and a lot of equipment.
You make the content from anywhere in the world, and help your exclusive paid members get in shape.
I have had the same idea before, and thought about solving it for others. First, I have a question. There are a ton of fitness and yoga apps out there that include body-weight routines. Why not use one of those? What are they missing that nomads would appreciate?
Iโve been thinking about this a lot too. I think the situation with nomads is you often have a tiny space and canโt really do a ton of jumping (thin walls/ people under you/ etc.). I travel with a jump rope but there are lots of places where I just donโt have the space to use it.
Also conditions are not always ideal; I often find myself doing 100 burpees RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE FAN because itโs the only cool spot in a room. Fitness apps often seem made for people who are working out in the comfort of their own living room.
Iโve found TRX to be pretty awesome when I just canโt stomach the thought of another day of push ups/lunges/ squats/ dips etc. It weighs about 2lbs and I HAVE caught flack from other travelers for schlepping it around, but Iโd rather lose one outfit from my pack and have room for that.

Personal coaching and accountability namehra. Especially in the beginning, it can be hard to change your behaviour and change them into disciplines. There are a lot of people who need the extra personal coaching before the more healthy habits are integrated into their lifestyle.
A content series would be really cool. I did gymnastics for 8 years and all the training was strictly calisthenics (use of body weight only), we were too young to use weights at that point. Considering the low overhead required by nomads due to constant transit it seems like calisthenics would be a good fit. No finding a gym or lugging around weights. The exercises could be done in a newly rented condo, a bus station, airport etc (depending on ones resilience to embarrassment haha). Iโve walked into 3 crossfit gyms and have been asked to coach every time due to calisthenic knowledge. Gymnastics training produces some pretty ridiculous results - lean, flexible, functional muscle - see below.

I'm in need of a tax advisor who understands "our" typical situation. I'm all good on being legal on taxes at this point, but as I'm doing more investing and there's more compliance and KYC and such, it's getting more complicated to deal with this topic. Not living in my country of citizenship, company in another country, resident in yet another country, banking in a different country ... you know how it is, a pile of red flags.
Would be great to find a good tax advisor to sort things in a way that makes my situation as "explainable" and easily dealt with as possible. Any leads?

It should cover the basic services and at least be accepted in the EU (itโs ok if itโs not accepted in the US as Iโm aware they rarely are). Nice to have: enter into a contract online. Anyone with knowledge regarding complications of not being a tax resident anywhere in the world? Iโm aware that primary health care, bank account opening and incorperation can be problematic but are there other practical or legal factors I should be aware of?
And what about paying myself salary from a self-owned OECD company? I would like to know if I risk potentieal issues with the tax authorities in the jurisdiction of the company, especially regarding withholding tax.

How do you, nomads, pay your taxes? I mean, if youโre constantly traveling, how are you going to pay taxes for a certain country if you are going to stay there a short period of time?
Or do you return to your โoriginal countryโ and then pay them?

Hey guys, this was my first year as a Canadian nomad.
As far as I know of, Canadians donโt pay taxes if they do not live in the country for 6 months.
But Iโd like to talk to an accountant or someone who does Canadian taxes specifically for expats and nomads to get clear on the rules and for help on my return coming up.
Does anyone know someone who specializes in Canada who can help? Iโve seen plenty of US recommendations but none for us canucks.

I just landed as a n00b digital nomad in Mexico City, and I am wonderingโฆ Where are all the international digital nomads hiding around here? I have been to several coworking spaces (Selina etc.) only to find A LOT of local Mexican workers and businesses. Donโt get me wrong, that is all fine, but I was hoping to meet some international nomads! Any advice?
Thereโs been a lot of discussion on this recently.
Nomads usually stay in hostels, hotels and short-term apartments. But itโs all not very optimal.
Iโve heard people suggest getting funding and building a network of houses you can stay at for a subscription price (e.g. Bruno Haid is working on that).
I donโt want do physical stuff, so Iโm thinking of building a platform around making housing better for nomads.
What are the housing problems nomads face? And how can we solve them with products/services?
I vaguely remember hearing about such a service before, but Iโm drawing a blank on the name. Basically I left my tablet on a connecting flight in Europe, right before my main flight to Thailand. They have my tablet and are willing to ship it out for me, but people have warned me thereโs a big risk of it getting โlost in the mailโ if I ship something expensive like that to Thailand.
Iโm wondering if thereโs a service or community, where I can find a nomad whoโs in Europe/heading to Thailand soon, so I can have it shipped to them in Europe and pay them to ferry it down here for me? I met someone in Budapest a ways back who had built something for this type of use-case, but I canโt remember the name of it. Any help would be appreciated!
I have seen a lot of posts from different people across the world, but not even a single post from someone in India, who has been a nomad, either living within the country or traveling to another one.
Would definitely love to hear stories from such people. We are a couple traveling as social nomads who are trying to bridge the gap between the rural and urban societies in India. We have started out very humble and do not have much resources, so looking out for help from the community.

Does anyone have experience in Bari, Italy please? We are thinking of going from Dubrovnik, Croatia to Bari by boat in mid-March. Has anyone taken a boat across? Is it nice or can it be choppy? (We are trying to avoid planes, to reduce our carbon footprint, so adding more surface travel.) Also, any info you might be able to offer about Bari and the surrounds? Next step will likely be trains up Italy as the Spring progresses.

Hi, Iโve seen that Nomad List offers different options that could work for connecting with other nomads that are in the same place as me (forum, Slack, user maps, matches and maybe even more options I havenโt seen), but Iโm not sure what is the best/recommended way to use all these options.
Should I use all of them? Start with a message in the forum and/or Slack?
Sending private messages to a lot of people feels a little bit โaggressiveโ. And matches are not based on current location if I understood it correctly.

Iโm surprised this isnโt anywhere on the forum yet. But just a pro tip for Americans about to start a nomad adventure. T-mobile offers unlimited SMS & data in 120 countries for FREE with any of their (already pretty cheap) plans. Itโs ideal if you plan to be back in the US for any part of the year, but I honestly would consider it even if youโre going to be entirely out of the country.
You get bumped down to much slower 3G speeds, but itโs free and works as soon as you land. Can be super helpful before youโve sorted yourself out with a local SIM. I usually keep my T-mobile SIM in my iPhone all the time and then buy a local SIM and drop it in my pocket wifi for both laptop and iPhone when needed. I keep my local US number and just use it (itโs like $0.05/min in most places) for important clients calls so they donโt have to bother with Skype.
Iโm not affiliated at all, just a happy customer. Anybody found a better deal worth mentioning?
I have been a digital nomad for the last couple of years. I have always worked in tech and now run a couple of profitable online businesses that give me a reliable income and allow me to fund a nomadic lifestyle.
I recently exited one of my businesses and I am considering to invest the income from the sale in properties, mainly for 2 reasons:
a) I donโt want to keep wasting my money in renting apartments across the cities I stay
b) I believe in properties as investment and I want to diversify my investment portfolio (mainly stocks)
After years of constant wander from one place to another, now I am the type of digital nomad who sticks to few locations: I mainly rotate across 4 places each year (San Francisco, Medellin, Berlin, Bali). Buying a house in each of those location would be difficult and too expensive. Therefore, I was wondering if there was any sort of service that combines an investment opportunity with the ability to access different properties around the world (even if just for a limited time per year) ?
Imagine living in 4 cities per year and having a house in each place that you can exclusively use for 3 months and at the same time having your investment growing (this depending on the market, of course). Wouldnโt that be great? I believe it could be done via a property fund selling you a share and giving you access to some of their properties for a limited timeframe each year.
Has anyone heard of anything like that?
