Sayulita draws mixed reviews depending on expectations. It's a small beach town that's busy with tourists and expats, which leads to higher prices for everything from food to accommodations. While the main beach and surf break can be packed, especially with protective locals, there are more peaceful areas if you're willing to walk a bit out of the town center. The surf is decent—ideal for beginners in some areas but often too crowded for advanced surfers looking for space. The town has a few good coworking spots and, while internet quality varies, it's functional for remote work depending on location.

Socially, it's easy to meet people since the vibe is generally open and friendly. Locals and visitors mingle in smaller venues and hidden gems around the outskirts of the busy center. However, the town itself is quite small and can feel a bit claustrophobic during peak times. Overall, Sayulita works for a short stay if you're looking to surf, socialize, or try remote working briefly, but it's not ideal for longer durations unless you're okay with limited space and paying premium prices.

It's a fantastic little town - there are lots of tourists but there are many local joints and great spots with less people if you're willing to get out of the town square. Everyone is super friendly and it's easy to meet people here. There are a few good spots to co-work and the internet has been fine (not the best but more than usable for remote work i.e. software engineer). There's a good spot for surfing as a beginner, then there are the more crowded spots if you're a good surfer.

Small area/beach, claustrophobic. I think enough to do entertainment wise. Just expensive due the mass amounts of CA residents/expats/business owners, wifi is also weak unless you are at a top place like Sayulita Hotel. Surf break is essentially one peak and crowded, the locals don't really share it. One week tops here.
