Graz is a cozy little town worth visiting for a few days. The old city center (Innere Stadt) is the most charming area, and the whole town has a very alternative, hippie vibe similar to places like Ubud or Goa. There's plenty of excellent cafes, like Martin Auer and the Kunsthaus Graz cafe, both offering great food and coffee.

For outdoor lovers, Graz offers stunning nature with beautiful hiking routes just a short walk outside the city. If you're up for a bit of walking, heading northeast will take you into gorgeous scenery.

The social atmosphere can feel closed off, as locals, especially Austrians, tend to be quite reserved and stick to their established friend groups. Expect minimal public friendliness or spontaneous connections. Another downside is the heavy prevalence of smoking, making it hard to sit outside without getting smoke blown in your face.

Overall, if you're looking for a chill stopover with good coffee, food, and scenic walks, Graz is a nice place to spend a few days.

The same people you'd see in Ubud or Koh Pha Ngan or Goa, you'll see in Graz. Speaking of the people, they're nice, but they won't smile at you in public mostly. I also wouldn't say it's easy to meet people here, but that's probably Austrian culture. Everyone already got their cliques.

Oh one annoying thing, eveeeeeryone smokes here or that's how it feels like. You won't be able to sit anywhere outside without getting smoke in your face.

In terms of activities, you can do quite a lot of hiking/walking around Graz in the hills and mountains. It's really beautiful if you just walk half an hour north east which we did.

A nice place to work is Martin Auer, they have a few diff spots around town, really AMAZING coffee and baguette sandwhiches there, you won't believe how good. Also the Kunsthaus Graz has a great cafe with amazing food.

So TL;DR Graz is a nice little cosy town, fun to stop by for a few days.

The people are so quiet, so one really laughs or expresses feelings, especially Austrian guys, it's like they have no soul and take life so so seriously. Huge egos, not enough love as kids.
