Tel Aviv and Israel in general receive high praise from both tourists and locals. Visitors consistently mention the friendly and welcoming people, as well as the vibrant culture and atmosphere. The city is noted for its safety—many feel very secure, even with armed soldiers occasionally visible in public areas, and routine security checks when entering public spaces like malls are considered normal after initial adjustment.
Weather is a clear highlight, with warm, sunny days year-round. Food is a major draw, particularly for vegetarians, with several reviewers mentioning it as some of the best they've had. The beach lifestyle and easy access to nearby cities like Jerusalem make Tel Aviv appealing for tourists looking to explore.
The biggest downside repeatedly mentioned is the cost of living and visiting. Accommodation and dining out can be expensive, and travelers on a budget are advised to plan ahead or consider cooking to save money.
Overall, it's a safe and sunny destination with great food and culture, though travelers should expect higher prices unless they plan accordingly.

One of my favourite places to visit. Best vegetarian food in the world.

One of my favorite places. It is a bit more expensive, but if you are ok with spending more for living, you will get sun, beaches, safety (I never felt threatened), culture. Jerusalem is just an hour bus ride away for touristing (bus prices are super cheap). You have to be ok with soldiers with guns walking around. And you have to get used to getting your bags searched every time you go into a mall or movie theater. I got used to it pretty quickly. I loved Tel Aviv.

As a local I would say it's great for you to visit, friendly people and great weather, However, if you're on budget, try to find in advanced the Bnb/CS/Hostel places to stay at. Eating outside might also be pricey, so be ready to cook.
