Been living here for few months and absolutely love it. Chosen to live near the sea and can go on walks on the beach when fancy it as well as enjoying a - small - but animated city center from time to time. If you search a little you can find restaurant Jems and go very easily to some cute places around such as Howth, Malahide and others.
The downs : cost of living and fluctuating weather but at least you see the sun once in a while !

For a European capital, there's not much to do. It's extremely overpriced for what it offers. Did not find the locals nearly as friendly as sources say. Food is very meh. Grocery stores are disorganized and everything close to expiry. You will have to beg and compete to find a dump of an apartment for under $2,000 euro/month.
Maybe quality of life is better in the suburbs, but the city centre and surrounding area is not an attractive place to live.

Overall, just avoid. For a similar price, you can live in Copenhagen, Amsterdam, Vancouver, Sydney. All are far better choices...

Very friendly people and nice bars. Not a whole lot to do though. Wildly expensive for what it is. Great museums and they are all free!!

Pro:
Friendly people, honest (friend lost her purse and a taxi driver called to give it back with all inside) and fun. Very nice to hang around with them. Funny dialect to listen to.
Nice area around the Temple bar for Bar hopping and live music. Good bus system and transfer from and to airport (under 10 Euro back and forth).
Many chain restaurants available like Subways on every corner, KFC or PizzaHut. Tipp: Hard Rock Cafe near the castle, if you don‘t want to try the many local restaurants.
I couldn‘t see me living in Dublin for more than a month or so. A typical playground to have some bar fun, not more.
Contra:
Very expensive for all things. Even bad hostels are minimum 50 Euros a night without breakfast and shared bathrooms. Have not stayed longterm, but what I saw around town is even that expensive.
Also bad: the city is not very clean, some small streets between houses are small, dark and messy. People without a residence (Homel… was blocked) and their smell is something I didn‘t expect from this city.

The city is very expensive and has gotten extremely dangerous since COVID lockdown. If you can, stay somewhere outside the city, but somewhere along the 'Dart' train line.
Best coffee is in 'The Green Bench' but there's no seating there really so don't expect to do some work. Best restaurant is 'Belli Dentro' just south of the city centre.
In terms of Internet, you can get an unlimited data call plan for 9.99 from 48 (online registration) though it will take a few days for them to post to you.

I live here in Dublin and I disagree you should stay in Ballymun or Finglas. These places are dangerous. Very. Mobile operator Three is terrible. Vodafone tends to be a bit more expensive but to support your work it is the only one I recommend. Dublin and the whole of Ireland is charming and fun. It is not cheap. You will not regret coming over.

Dublin is fun and lively. The locals are some of the friendliest I've even encountered in my travels. Although its pretty expensive to the point I can't see myself staying there for very long. Eating out and having some drinks I feel sets you back far too much.

All those saying Dublin is boring need a reality check, it has an amazing nightlife with incredibly friendly people. I agree a lot of the scores are way off but its true that it is ridiculously expensive especially for accommodation.

A lot of the scores for Dublin are way off. Every house has a central heating system and A/C is never required. People are extremely friendly and approachable. Virgin Media offer 120MB Internet which is available in the vast majority of places in the city. It is however a very expensive city to live in.

Visit Temple Bar but avoid eating or drinking there as it is a tourist trap and very expensive.
Georges Street and the surrounding area is where the locals hang out. The food and drink are cheaper and atmosphere is better.
Buy a "leap" card and use it for pubic transport everywhere. It's cheaper than paying as you go.
Dublin is a small city and everywhere is cyclable. "Dublin bikes" are dispersed throughout the city. It's a very cheap way to explore the city.
