Iโve always thought that is important to balance a very digital lifestyle with some analogic source of informations, like magazines, books, newspapers, but in a nomadic lifestyle it could be difficult to find same media in every country. How do you feel about that? Do you read something specific and cross-crountry?
An ePaper Kindle generally works quite as a โnon-screenโ and you can subscribe to newspapers/magazines etc via the platform.
Popular magazines like Wired, GQ tend to be imported a lot of countries (usually at a cost though).
You can find the main magazines in English (Newsweek, Times, The Guardian, etc) in most big cities. In some places, like Latin America, youโll probably find them in larger bookstores (specially inside shopping malls), and not at the newsstand. Iโm guessing newspapers are more difficult to find unless in bigger cities, but again, look for bookstores and libraries as well.
Books in English are super easy to find anywhere. Just grab a couple at the airport when you arrive 
Some cities may have a specific bookstore for books in English. Finding them may be part of the fun of exploring and discovering the city.
I donโt do paper at all but I see your point.
It can be interesting to pick up local magazines for a read (I usually do it at cafes etc where they are free). Even if you canโt read them, if they are on an interesting topic like fashion, architecture or whatever you are into, they can still be a source of inspiration.
I donโt read paper anything while Iโm traveling unless I happen to be in a hostel with books. Itโs not just about finding the same media, itโs about finding it in a language you can read.
Of course the language is crucial. I was investigating if there are some magazine easy to find because I need to turn off the monitor sometimes and i love to be a loyal reader when i find something i like.
you can find local versions of international magazines, but youโll probably have language issues. perhaps at some of the high end hotels in major cities you can get some big city news papers in english like the NYT. but in general, i think youโll have a real problem finding the same magazine each month in a language you can read if youโre moving from country to country. book exchanges at hostels might be an option but theyโre books, not mags. there might be, in the big cities, a shop that will sell international language mags, but youโd have to discover that from city to city and no guarantee that theyโd have what you wanted. i read more than anyone Iโve ever met so I get it. but I gave up on paper reading long ago. itโs just not viable for long-term travel - at least not for me.

What are the best places right now in the Caribbean/LatAM? (Also cheapest flights/accommodation?) Asking from the US.

I love living in walkable areas of town. I can always find them. But now I'm wondering where in the world are the most walkable places? I'm imagining walk streets (no cars), zoning allowing both business and residential, parks or beaches ,etc.

Hi everybody. I live and work in Germany and want to go to Canary Islands for 6 months to work from there. I'm going to keep my current job, just change the "home" in the home office part of things. Are there any tax issues I have to be aware of? I was reading about becoming a residence after 183 days, thus having to pay taxes there plus my employer having to register there. Does anybody know how it works exactly? Thanks a lot!
Winter is coming and Iโm feeling the ache of travelling after being stuck in the same place since the Pandemic started. Wondering if anyone is travelling right now? If so, where are you currently located and how is the situation where you are?
What I mean is, for example, since most of the EU has banned Americans, if I live in Guatemala and will be traveling FROM Guatemala to the EU, could I get in? Or does the ban count for all Americans regardless of where they live?

We're leaving in a month to go travelling. Our first destination is still to be confirmed, but will likely be Poland or Slovakia. We will be moving around every month or two to different destinations.
The question we have is: what do people do with phones/ phone numbers when hopping from country to country? Ideally we'd just like one number for the whole trip (even better, the number we already have) wherever we go, rather than getting new SIMs with different numbers.
This is just so it's easier to keep in contact with family/ clients/ etc.
We are going travelling but we won't know anyone out there, what's your best advice for meeting people and socialising abroad? We've thought about the obvious things like Meetup etc, is there anything else you can suggest from your experience?
Iโve got myself a DDJ 400 DJ controller, and the compact size makes it ideal to throw into my suitcase while I go travelling next year.
It made me wonder if there was a decent portable speaker system thatโs loud (and clear) enough for light bedroom DJing I could pack alongside the 400 to practice new tracks and record mixes.
I currently have a Bose Soundlink Mini II which was surprisingly good for the job. Although I feel itโll probably damage if I keep pumping at full pelt, and itโs not quite loud enough for what I wanted but not far off at all.
I ordered a pair of iLoud Micro Monitors, and although seriously impressed with the sound quality, I ended up returning them for KRK Rokit 5 G3โs as they were too heavy for permanent (Digital Nomad) travelling so thought Iโd get some solid DJ speakers in the meantime.
I recently started running a software consultancy in the UK that specialises in MVP development and onboarding/marketing strategies. I found it relatively easy to get leads by attending networking events (quite a lot here in Edinburgh).
I plan to start travelling soon, though. Has anybody tried to travel while running a software consultancy? Iโm really curious to find out how you handled finding new clients while doing that. Letโs say that if I go networking somewhere in Asia I wonโt find clients willing to spend much on a project (and canโt just pay my employees less because I canโt find good paying projects).

I wondered how everybody deals with getting data on their phone in each country they travel. Is there a way around it? It is always such a pain having to buy and activate sim cards everywhere. I have tried the company โworldsimโ and had an international sim for a while, but they where terrible and ended up to be super expensive.
Can anyone recommend an insurance company that will specifically insure a laptop for a few months or more for a UK citizen whilst already abroad for over a year and without a return date?

Iโve decided I want to take a break from my way of living and go nomad for a few months (at least). I do music so WiFi is not my main concern, all I need is good inspiration and nice people around me.
I am looking for a mid-cheap / safe place, preferably having a nice beach around. Iโd also like to socialize with people from different cultures. Meet and make new friends.
I got sick from living in Europe/US, so Iโd rather be far away from these continents.
My choices have come down do Costa Rica, but Iโm reading some good stuff about Medellin, Mexico, Panama. Iโve spend quite some time in Asia traveling as well (I love Bali and Koh Lanta), but Iโve never been to South America, so Iโd rather go in that direction.
What would you suggest?
Weโve organized almost 50 meetups of digital nomads now from San Francisco to Berlin to Chiang Mai to Sao Paulo in the last year.
Theyโre very informal get-togethers in a local bar or coworking space with 20 to 50 people (and sometimes 200+, as in Chiang Mai, haha!).

Iโm currently new to freelancing and Iโm working on two projects at the moment. However, Iโm not travelling yet as Iโm still saving and building up a portfolio but at the moment I canโt see how I could do this while travelling as it seems to take up all my time.
I know this is down to bad time management, but at the moment Iโm spending about 12 hours a day working on clients websites. How do you current freelance web developers manage your freelancing work and have time to enjoy yourself while travelling?
Is there any tools or techniques that I can use to manage my time better?
