For a 30 day multiple entry visa, can your return flight be after 30 days?

What are the best places right now in the Caribbean/LatAM? (Also cheapest flights/accommodation?) Asking from the US.

On New Year’s Day this year, I was refused entry to the UK due to not having proof of funds, an outward-bound plane ticket (I was road-tripping out with a friend via car) and not being able to prove that I had indeed canceled the lease on the apartment I had leased during a prior recent trip.

I haven’t had any entry issues to any of the several countries I’ve visited after, but now I’m applying for a 462 visa (work and holiday) visa in Australia, and since Australia and the UK share an immigration info system, I want to make sure getting refused entry won’t keep me from getting a visa. None of the issues that cropped up in the UK (the proof of funds, the plane ticket, and the apartment) will be an issue in Australia, as I’ve never traveled there before, don’t know anyone and will have proof of more than sufficient funds for the trip and an outbound plane ticket.

Anybody have any suggestions on how to make the approval process go as smoothly as possible?

I’m making plans to travel from Portland, OR to Canggu, Bali in a little over a month. Looking around at flights now. Can anyone lend experience on the most affordable flight path (airports and airlines) to take?

I subscribe to Scott’s Cheap Flights, but nothing obvious has shown up in that direction (Portland, OR -> Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam -> Bali ???). I’ve so far just been looking with Google Flights + Momondo. Any other tips from more experienced travelers are much appreciated.

I’m in the Philippines currently on a the standard 30 day tourist visa. I’m planning on spending an extended period of time here with the odd joint here and there around S.E.Asia.

I am aware that you can now extend your visa in 60 day blocks without leaving the country. However, if i were to extend it by 60 days and then decide I want to leave for a few days to another country.

Would exiting the country then null and void that visa and when I return I would start again on the 30-day tourist visa. Or does it allow multi-entry?

Just trying to work out whether it is worth paying for the extension or it’s better to try and fit any trips out within the 30 day periods that I get.

One side point is that I am interested in getting the photo ID card which I believe you get after a couple of extensions which may allow me to open a local bank account.

It would be great to hear from anyone in a similar position as this or who has experience with this.

I’m sorry if this question has been asked before, whether in disguise or directly, but I couldn’t find its own dedicated topic and I find it very interesting to talk about.

One of my issues with the remote working world is the lack of knowledge of where to return to. After a one/two/ten month stint living and working somewhere else (say Airbnb’ing or a short let, meaning a place that is NOT yours by any means), where do you return to?

• Do most nomads own a place that you rent while you travel?
• If not, is this something that you consider doing?
• Do you return to your home country before deciding where to go next? Or do you jump directly somewhere new?
• And when you return, do you find the need to be in a personal, private space? (ie, not sharing with strangers 24/7 365 days a year)

Speaking for myself, I’ve gotten rid of my apartment in Portugal 2 years ago and moved to London simply for the pursuit of new and interesting opportunities. I’m now, at last, working remotely and I plan on working and living for a few weeks/months in random European cities, but not knowing where to return after to after this… is killing me! (I still own too many possessions to carry in a backpack. Not too many, but moving is a hassle).

• Those of you who travel without a set of keys on you, how do you deal with this thought? I’m really curious to get to know your views on this.

I’m planning to spend a month in Australia before 3-4 months in Thailand, and was wondering if anyone has any experience of applying for the single entry Thai tourist visa in Australia while being a citizen of another country. I ask because in the UK, for example, they won’t give you that visa unless you are a UK resident, and I won’t be an OZ resident then.

I will be travelling before that so cannot apply in my home country.

I am aware of the Penang option, but I am specifically asking about this scenario.

Hey Nomads, I run a subscription site in the gaming industry (Magic: The Gathering to be exact) and I have a number of friends in the UK that I like to visit frequently. I’m American, so I can get a 6-month visa just by showing up at the border.

I’m 2 months into a 3 month stay here, and I just found out that I need to come back about a month after I leave.

My question is, how is the 6-month period calculated? My assumption was that I cannot spend more than 6 months in any given 12-month period in the UK on my visa. I am asking because I intend to come back to the UK after spending the winter somewhere…warmer

I’m trying to sort out whether I can come back in early 2017, as I have work obligations in Ireland in February and would love to piggyback onto that trip.

Does anyone have experience with this visa and comings-and-goings? I don’t want to risk screwing up and getting in trouble and jeopardizing my ability to enter the UK in the future, so I’d like to get some proper guidance on this.

I have just been reading up on the new Thai visa situation and I am very confused as to whether I can extend my ‘visa exempt 30 days stay" by another 30 days at a local immigration office whilst already in Thailand or not? According to the Austrian Foreign ministry website I cannot but then several recently updated travel blogs say you can? And visa runs seem to be more or less out of the question now since the authorities are crackin’ down on that since the Bangkok attacks?

Any EU Europeans had any recent experience with that? Just want to make sure I can avoid trouble.

My fiancée(who is British) is on her second 30 days visa exemption in Thailand. We’re considering getting the visa exemption extension for 30 days and staying longer.

Our only worry is: Does this mean we would hit 90 days in total? We need to return in March to fly home from Bangkok. We are worried we’d be refused entry in March as they might count the visa exemption extension against us.

Any advice is appreciated!

I’m looking for some advice from people who are dual citizens. I hold dual Italian and British citizenship and I want to visit Thailand later this year. I was planning to get a 3 x 60 visa on my Brit passport, but it looks like I might need to travel out of Thailand a month after first arriving there. I don’t really want to burn one of my 60 day entries like that so I thought, what if I first enter with my Italian passport and just get the normal 30 day visa on arrival? Then when i return I can use my first 60 day on the Brit passport.
does any one have experience of this and is it doable/OK?

Not a question per se but just a note to those of you in Kl this month. There will be a huge protest called Bersih at the end of the month. You have the rare opportunity to see democracy in action. Still, do be careful as the police here are tear gas happy so be armed with water n salt if you are out and about the city on that day.

there may be road blocks and traffic jams too.

Can someone explain how multiple entry visas are used to extend a stay beyond their designated term?

This presents the definition that I understood to be the case–the clock starts running on your first entry, and any exits and re-entries don’t change that. (You still only have 60 or 90 days, or whatever, “since your registered arrival date.”)

I can’t find any official information about how the start date is somehow “reset” to the most recent entry date which, if I’ve understood everything I’ve read correctly, is what most people are doing/recommending.

In other words, how does a normal 60-day tourist visa, which can be extended for another 30 days, get turned into a 6-month stay with the multiple entry option? (Which again, I read as only permitting exits during the designated time, not multiplying the length of the stay in some way.)

I’ve read a ton of writing about the general topic, but this is one of those areas that tends to be glossed over, or referred to only in passing.

I plan to enter Bali for 30 days with visa on arrival and then extend my stay for another 30, making it 60 in total.

Should the date of flight on onward ticket be 30 days after the day of arrival or can it also be in 60 days (30 initial + 30 extension)? My logic is that at the day of arrival, I’ll only have a permission to stay 30 days in the country and not 60, so it would make sense for them to ask me for a proof of a ticket to that date and in not 60 days.
