S-tier. Been to 70+ countries and Kotor is one of the most magical, beautiful places I've ever been to. Fairly cheap, astonishing natural beauty, adorable old town, cats everywhere. Only con: most are nice, but Montenegrins are the rudest people I've ever met.

Beautiful scenery around the city, old town is really nice and atmospheric. The only thing I didn't like at all is the prices - hostel (although good one) called Centrum costs like 44 euro per night, which is really expensive, like in Paris or something. There is also the issue of buying food and prices of it - in old town there are very few grocery shops with quite big prices for everything. Taxi from old town to Tivat airport costs like 15-20 euro for 15-20 minute ride, just unreasonable.
Spent there about 6 days, and to be honest had a feeling that saw everything interesting in like 2-3 days already. Wouldn't say it's "solid for up to a week" as other reviewer said, as the place is really small to be honest. And take in mind - it's extremely touristic place.
Also it's really hot in July, and there is almost no wind, so it's exhausting outside during the day.

It's a beautiful little town packed with more history than the average tourist can absorb. I don't know where the bad (mad?) walkability score comes from but you'll walk through the historical centre in 10 minutes and everything is nearby. You'd be mad not to hire rental car as Montenegro is just plain gorgeous (especially this part) and you want to be able to drive around at your own leisure. Depending on your fondness for getting trampled by (cruise-ship) crowds, I strongly advise to go during low season as you've got the place for yourself.

Kotor is a cool but I would recommend Tivat, a small town nearby, much sunnier and more affordable. I lived in Tivat`s Hostel Anton a home for artists, travelers and digital nomad
