Pros: Safe, beautiful views, loads of nice little beach towns a taxi ride away. Native cuisine is delicious, maybe the best value restaurants in Europe.
8 months of pleasant weather. Old town is pretty charming. Local fruits are excellent and inexpensive. 1 Euro taxi rides. Georgians are generally warm. English ability among youth is good for FSU.

A decent hipster coffee/bar/cafe/coworking scene is emerging from the Ru/Bel/Ukr exile community.
The boardwalk on the coast is long and excellent - perfect for running and cycling.
Kutaisi airport is only a 24 euro taxi ride away, so lots of cheap connections to central Europe and FSU.

Cons: Roads are total chaos, being a pedestrian is scary. International food options and supermarkets are limited.
New apartment towers are poorly built, extremely noisy and waiting for the elevator can waste 30 minutes of your day.
Businesses seem poorly managed, this results in queues and mistakes.

For a nomad who wants to live somewhere for 6 months, on a low cost of living, focus on work and maintain an active lifestyle. Batumi is one of the best options in 2023.

These are the wrongest infos in the history of infos😄😄 the cost of living, the internet, restaurants, I mean someone really suggested that the airport cafe is the best place in a city. well ok bye

After living there for 2 months, I did not like it at all. Too much crowded now, lot's of cars everywhere. And it is really hard to find a good place to eat, cause the service quality of awful.

I‘ve spent a couple of days in Batumi in Sep. ‘21. First the cost of living is waaay lower than what nomad list says. You can rent a nice serviced apartment with sea view for 29€/Day. People barely speak english in Batumi and there is not a lot going on (compared to Tbilisi). It is a nice place, if you want to live very cheap, safe, enjoy sea views and like modern buildings. However keep in mind, it is a small city, so there is not a lot going on.
