anomad 3mo
The only other requirement is to have some kind of online grocery shopping with delivery. Carrefour for example would be good
anomad 3mo
But the place must not have mold issues or other bad issues
boris_k 3mo
Georgia is not as cheap as you seem to expect.
With these requirements - possibly only some options in Batumi during the low season. And it's not the best place to stay in Georgia.
anomad 3mo
How much do you think would be the cost
anomad 3mo
I'm seeing a lot of places on airbnb at low prices but there are hidden costs etc
anomad 3mo
What's the best place where to stay in georgia, in your opinion?
jmibl 3mo
Living somewhere not too central in Tbilisi, I'm guessing you could get rent below โ‚ฌ400/month (maybe centrally) on a long rental but hard through airbnb. Gym in Tbilisi maybe โ‚ฌ40 each for a cheapish one.

Airbnb charges maybe 20%, and you could negotiate prices if coming soon / off season. Maybe go through ss.ge or myhome.ge, or facebook??

Swimming pools are expensive here. Single entry from around โ‚ฌ10.

So feels hard, but not totally impossible in Tbilisi, but maybe Kutaisi, Telavi or Batumi would be better bets if you don't mind being out of Tbilisi.
hey everyone looking for https://expathub.ge/ alternatives. Any ideas?
- accounting,
- guide and advise for newcomers
- assistance in person and remotely with documents/registration/operations etc.
boris_k 2mo
Georgia is not as cheap as
Hello good people :)
Whatโ€™s a good website for real estate here? Does anybody have any experience with buying land here?
jmibl 2mo
Ss.ge and myhome.ge. You can't buy farm land / rural land as a foreigner.
Thanks Jamie ๐Ÿ‘
I mean residential
jmibl 2mo
๐Ÿ‘ residential in a city no issue. Residential in a village might be considered farm land.
leonardo 2mo
how's february in Tiblisi?

im mostly interested in snowboarding, climbing and swimming :)
jmibl 2mo
Snowboarding: there's a few people here who will likely be in Gudauri a bit. There's also Bakuriani and Mestia. Not best in the world, but decent and convenient. If you're keen on powder / off piste, heli skiing there's options, but I don't have experience.

Swimming: overpriced in Tbilisi, but some decent pools. Top end is 50m Vake Pool (you basically get a lane to yourself), a number of 25m pools around.

Climbing isn't my area, but there is a climbing place at Vake at least. I assume people do outdoors too. Things like this normally there's a smallish, welcoming group, some of whom are really into it.
boris_k 2mo
Note that the current winter season is potentially a bad one. There is still hope but so far it does not look good.
hugohb 2mo
Hey guys, I keep reading online people saying that Vake is the best central area to live, in Tbilisi. How true do you find this statement?

I've stayed about 4 months in Tbilisi in total, in 2023 and 24, and I've only ever lived in Sololaki (like 2 min by walk from Freedom Square).

So I'd love to hear more about this neighborhood that I barely know.
apalevich 2mo
In my view, Vake is a tranquil and contemporary neighborhood, but it has a significant downside: the transportation options are quite limited. While I would recommend it for families, I donโ€™t think itโ€™s suitable for nomads

Check Vera, Mtatsminda, Sololaki for better transport availability. And Chugureti is even cheaper
samgozman 2mo
I can vouch for that. The only neighborhood in Tbilisi I found comfortable to live in long term for myself
hugohb 2mo
Thanks guys for the input! So Artem, you would say that a car is necessary to live long term in Vake?
jmibl 2mo
It's good for things like gyms, swimming pools, some nice parks (Vake Mziuri and say Turtle Lake beyond), slightly higher end vibe. IMHO a bit less soul. All depends what you want.

I'm in Vera as it's in the middle of Vake and Sololaki
hugohb 2mo
Sam, what makes it more comfortable for you (over other central neighborhoods like Sololaki)?
hugohb 2mo
Thanks Jamie! Do you find that it's more expensive to be in Vera, due to proximity with the inner center?
jmibl 2mo
I'd say Vake, Vera, Sololaki probably aren't priced all that differently. Marjanishvilli you can probably get better deals.

Overall, I guess Mtatsminda and Vake are the most expensive, and Vake has some modern apartments in "exclusive" blocks that might be priced very high.
jmibl 2mo
... and Saburtalo if you want to save more cash
hugohb 2mo
I'm actually interested in the opposite of those buildings ^^ When I'm back in Tbilisi next year, I'll be in the hunt for a flat in an old building with 5m high ceilings, where I'll demolish most of the inside and remodel it entirely.
jmibl 2mo
Then Sololaki, Majanishivilli / Churgureti, Mtatsminda
jmibl 2mo
(Or there are some other nice areas a bit further out)
samgozman 2mo
Flat Chavchavadze street that is maintained in good condition and has a lot of green trees and bushes along the way, good for everyday walking.
Big parks - Mziuri and Vake park, a zipline to Turtle lake with good hiking trails for novice
Agrohub and Carrefour, lots of gyms, the air is a bit better than in Vere or Sololaki (I guess better air circulation since it is located a bit higher). Easy to use buses since they have a dedicated line, so itโ€™s fast to travel from one end of Chavchavadze to another

But not very comfortable for a driver, hard to find a parking lot and turnarounds
hugohb 2mo
Awesome, thanks a lot guys! I'm noting down all these areas you recommend.
jmibl 2mo
I'll add if you did want Vake say for the park, there are some nice areas say down Titsian Tabidze St, but it's up quite a bit of hill, so the conveniences of Vake aren't so convenient.
apalevich 2mo
With local prices on public transport and taxis, I don't think you'll need a car for commuting. But it could be handy if you want to explore other parts of Georgia
hugohb 2mo
Thanks for the offer, but I'll only be back from September 2026.
lydiaz 1mo
Hi! Is anyone currently based in Batumi?
apalevich 1mo
Hey, take a look if you want to stay at Tbilisi for a month or few
leonardo 1mo
how come the ski slopes are still closed? from the webcams it looks like it's snowing
boris_k 1mo
Cause you still need 40-50cm+ of snow to start preparing the slopes. The later they start doing this, the better it will be for the rest of the season.
alek 1mo
I would be interested to know how you found this shared flat arrangement in such a great location. None of the local listing sites I know handle shared flats. Are such offers all on Facebook groups? Which groups are those? 2-4 months means two months is the minimum expected stay of a sublessor or are you not yet sure when you will want to have your room back?
scally 1mo
Unfortunately mod auto deletes anything that might be considered to be about finding accommodation
alek 1mo
Do you mean to say that posting offers here is fine but posting links to other accommodation related sites is not?
scally 1mo
Both will get deleted
apalevich 1mo
I found it there, but it's in Russian xopqmrupjs
alek 1mo
I just checked the terms and there is no accomodation-specific rule, just one that prohibits "spamming your startup/app/business/yourself". What is your source for an accomodation-specific rule or are flat sharing posts removed under this provision by considering them a business?
scally 1mo
Source is my eyes
alek 1mo
Fair enough, there are other groups dedicated to it.
Happy new year everyone ๐ŸŽ‰
fiborbis 1mo
I've just arrived in Tbilisi and will be staying for at least a month. I'd like to meet other expats like myself.

I work as a Senior Software Engineer at a startup company in Tรผrkiye. I'm 30 years old, and I'll be working in cafes and at home during the weekdays, but in the evenings and on weekends I'd like to meet new people and participate in activities. It would be great if someone could guide me in this. We could also meet other newcomers and explore together. Thanks ๐Ÿ™‚
Does anyone use western union?
Whatโ€™s your experience with it in Georgia?
leonardo 1mo
what's the best place to find a nice flat for a month? airbnb?
7rulnik 1mo
I used it few times in 2022 for recieving money, did not face any problems
7rulnik 1mo
probalby, also some facebooks groups maybe. Like flats4friendstbi

what's the best coworking in Tbilisi?
jasong 27d
Hey, will be in Tbilisi next month and going to Mestia for skiing.

Does anyone know a reliable place to rent ski clothes and equipment in Tbilisi to recommend m?
7rulnik 27d
I tried D Block Workspace in Stamba
https://maps.app.goo.gl/Qymirbu8Bdpidg786

Huge one, different areas: normal desks, standing desks, couches
voskovek 24d
Skiwalker in 49 kosmonavtebis. Canโ€™t post link for whatevah reason ๐Ÿ˜”
jmibl 24d
I got a bit into TSRE. Small and friendly.

In the past I've used Terminal (several branches around), but didn't get much social from it. Also, you might need to message as I think some have turned more into managed office space. Terminal Mozaika isn't my taste, others are decent.

D Block is big and popular. I personally didn't vibe with it.
d block wins at location and adjacent spaces, but has a bit of a dark vibe on 1st floor ๐Ÿ˜…
leonardo 24d
how about the other places? is it dark in general or there are bright places too? I'm the kind of person that needs as much as light as possible to work
jmibl 24d
Upper floor of D block is bright. TSRE is normal, Terminal varies a bit with Roses Garden pretty light, others have some darker areas and in general the lighting can be a bit harsh in places, so sometimes people turn it off around their desks.
alek 22d
What are peoples' experiences with Georgia's new mandatory health and accident insurance regime?
boris_k 22d
Airlines do ask for it now (especially the ones from the Gulf). Immigration cares less but may also ask randomly
alek 22d
Is it necessary to present a return flight ticket upon arrival already, e.g. so that date can be checked against the validity of the insurance policy or is insurance perhaps checked again when flying back out of Georgia?
alek 22d
Are electronic form / printouts of policy certificates accepted or are original paper versions required? English language documents accepted without translation?
boris_k 22d
Just buy insurance for 2-3 weeks, that would be enough
boris_k 22d
Yes, English is enough
alek 22d
Ok, thanks.
leonardo 21d
what's the best way to reach Gudauri from Tbilisi?
7rulnik 21d
I use https://tkemalitour.com/
75 USD for private sedan.
Also they have shared options.
You can text them directly in telegram

And you can ask to stop by for a lunch in Pasanauri village. Best place for khinkali.
adam 21d
How would you rate their driving safety? Crazy or safe?
7rulnik 21d
50/50 huh
Sometimes drivers are bit strange. But usually I don't have any complains.
Used them more than 10 times I think.
has anyone entered Georgia recently? do they ask for the mandatory health insurance? do you need a return ticket?
Iโ€™ve never been asked for insurance entering Georgia
Is it asked elsewhere?
ronald 9d
Europe, Schengen Area - been asked despite having a visa (South African Passport)
ronald 9d
But yeah I found Georgian immigration pretty chill - just asked reason of visit, then he said "Welcome to Georgia" with a 1 year stamp.
dashaa 9d
if you are flying from Belarus, they will not let you board without insurance
This is a new rule from January 1
which local sim do you guys use?
Magti
do you know if it's possible to buy it at the airport?
Yes but itโ€™s more expensive, itโ€™s like double
I pay around 30 lari a month for unlimited data
Iโ€™d suggest just using the airports wifi and getting a taxi to your accommodation and then go out to find a magti office, or if you need data for checking in and all of that, then get an eSIM online for 1 day and then get magti locally, itโ€™ll be cheaper than getting magti in the airport
thanks ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ
do you guys use Revolut in georgia? because I noticed it doesn't support GEL
And it doesn't support topping up from Georgian banks
jasong 6d
Anyone in Tblisi and want to meet up tonight for some drinks near Fabrika?
boris_k 6d
It works, you just cannot hold GEL in your account.
which food delivery app do you guys use?
Wolt 100%
mickyd 2d
Can anyone suggest a good gym in Vake area? I have been looking at some reviews and almost all of them are not particularly favourable towards forgieners....
Sative space, itโ€™s a cowork and a gym
And there are many foreigners, all the staff speaks English
But itโ€™s kind of where vake ends, maybe youโ€™re far from it
7rulnik 18h
Snap fitness is fine
jmibl 11h
Snap's decent. Maybe Octopus. Aspira was overpriced and I didn't love it anyway (but haven't been for ages). Sative is a bit end of Vake, if you happen to be that end and like swimming, there's Vake Pool and Neptune (both have gyms too), but neither are cheap. World Class I haven't been to, but I expect is decent but overpriced.

Overall, I'd check out Snap.
