I’ve been to Malmö multiple times and would say that I always feel safe during the day, but there are pockets I wouldn’t be so comfortable going to at night. The area close Triangeln Station is one place I didn’t feel so comfortable. Most of the center is fine though, I’d say — though I feel like the city has gotten worse since I first visited in 2017.

Lots of good food options and easy to cycle around. I personally couldn’t see myself living here as the only reason I would is to be near Copenhagen, but it’s an enjoyable day trip.

I've lived here since 2018. All areas are safe and you shouldn't have any problems anywhere. The other reviewer mentioned having bikes stolen; but that is just normal and happens in every single Swedish city. I wouldn't expect anything more bad than that to happen.

I´ve lived here for five years and know at least three friends, me included that have had stuff stolen. Ive had three bikes stolen for example. One of the cities strengths is its multicultural food industry! Some areas like Rosengård have a higher crime rate. Malmö has some decent areas that are nice, just be wary of what neighbourhoods you choose to spend your time in.
