Odessa is a lively and charming city, especially in the summer months when tourists flock in. It is a really nice city, as a resort, it has really cool vibe going on and the overall impression that it is a lively city, especially in the summer. The old town is really beautiful, the nightlife is also great. Can't remember the last time I had such a good nightlife experience, the bars and clubs are at a high level. Overall everyday people are friendly and nice to talk, however, about 50 percent don't speak English. I was lucky that I know some Russian, in some places which are highly rated even staff couldn't understand a word in English. The place is worth a visit, but have a precaution at all times, as scams are happening, especially at restaurants and bars for the foreigners. While I visited the strategy was to go to the places which only have really high ratings in trip advisor, so by doing that I avoided places that might scam, and the experience overall was good. If the place from the foreigns is not rated highly enough, just better be safe and plan in advance where to go. I tried working there also, so managed to get some cozy cafes in town with decent internet.

It's a nice city on the whole. In summertime you get a lot of tourists from Ukraine, and also other countries. The cost of living is reasonable, a standard meal in a decent restaurant will cost you about 200uah. Internet is fast and good quality, currently you can get a 4g data sim with unlimited data from Kievstar for 100uah for a month. Accommodation can be hard to come by and expensive during the summer months. It's largely safe, but Odessa is historically a criminal city, but most of that crime is not at street level. There have been increasing numbers of reports of foreigners having their drink drugged by "ladies of the night". Common sense prevails and you should not walk around quiet areas of the city at ngiht whilst inebriated.

Charming old town, with a italian/french architecture, the rest is Soviet style + it has a multiethnic diverse community inside it. Cheap cafes + restaurants/pubs and so on. The narrow streets + the main pedestrian side are a beauty in disguise so you people should take the chance in seeing it.

There are more than 5 nice specialty cafes with wifi and good vibe where Aeropress coffee is less than US$2. Decent hostels, and milder weather than in Kiev.
