Best ship-to-them storage options any use here?

Anyone with knowledge regarding complications of not being a tax resident anywhere in the world? I’m aware that primary health care, bank account opening and incorperation can be problematic but are there other practical or legal factors I should be aware of?

And what about paying myself salary from a self-owned OECD company? I would like to know if I risk potentieal issues with the tax authorities in the jurisdiction of the company, especially regarding withholding tax.

I know from experience that if you have residential status in countries where IG (a broker) serves, you can buy stocks and other assets through this broker. But I wonder what doors to the stock market, asset market or broker can be unlocked with e-residency? Some banks open a terminal for customers to buy assets overseas too, is one of the e-residency friendly bank offering a good portfolio of assets to invest in?

As an American Citizen, would it be safe to fly into Thailand without a visa? You can get a 30 day upon entry right?

The reason I ask is, I’m in the process of getting my passport. I’d like to leave basically as soon as my passport arrives in the mail. I’m unable to apply for a Thai Visa until I have my passport, so that would require an even longer wait.

Would I be able to fly into Thailand with no visa, then get a 30 day entry, then apply for an education visa while inside the country? Once I go, I’d like to not have to return to the US. I don’t mind if I have to take a bus/flight to a neighboring country for however long if I must leave while I wait for an education visa.

I’ve seen much information on blogs, youtube etc, from Americans or 1st world country people. But the information I’ve seen from Latin people is most than anything backpackers, and I would like to know the experience of Latin nomads, since I think there maybe some issues that are different, like racism and that earning an Developed Country equivalent income is way more challenging. And when English is not your native language, trying to understand a Chinese or Indi people speaking english, may be a nightmare.

I would like to know the experience of the Latin people on becoming a nomad and if you feel there is any difference or special barrier to overcome, and how did you faced them.

Like many, I’m not heading back to be with my family for the holidays but I was thinking it would be fun to maybe do a nomad family gathering. We could rent a cool house/apartment somewhere fun and do our own thing. I personally am available from 23-27 December, but people could arrive/leave sooner/later. I love to cook so I’d be up for doing a big christmas dinner.

Originally, I am from the Netherlands. Since january 2016, I have been working remotely all around the world. But even though I haven’t been in the Netherlands this year, I am still paying taxes there. I’m still registered as a citizen.

I have to unregister in the Netherlands as a citizen. But if I don’t register somewhere else, or have a freelance status or company somewhere else, I would still have to pay 50%+ taxes. This is, of course, not fun at all.

So I decided to move my business elsewhere. Either get freelancer status in another country, or create a business there to send invoices from. Which brings me to my question:

What is the best country tax-wise for a Dutch freelancer?

As of now, I found two solutions:

• Have an agency set up a company in Bulgaria. It will kost 3000 euro a year, once 3300 euros and extra money if I want residency. And then of course 10% income tax on my earnings.
• Have an agency set up a company in Dubai. It will cost around 2000 euro annually and 5000 euro once. No income tax.

Wether residency in an other country is required for the Dutch tax authority to not tax your world income, seems to be a grey area. However, if I unregister in Holland and send invoices from a company in a whole other country, it should be fine.

I have little or no experience. People with know-how: would you be so kind to comment on these options?

Are there alternatives I should consider?

I don’t really like to hire an agency. I’d rather just fly to a country, fill out paperwork, incorporate there and from then on invoice from that company. If it’s too bureaucratic, I wouldn’t mind hiring a local lawyer or accountant to do it for me.

Do you know a country where there is no or a low income tax and this process is relatively easy and suitable for Dutch freelancers?

Are there any nomads on here working as transportation planners or any type of urban planner? I’m curious about what kind of work you do on the road.

I’ve been traveling on my bicycle for the past couple years, doing a few interesting things related to planning while on the road, but not doing any work. It seems like too much of a hassle in my field, although it could be interesting to just take big jobs and move to the location for a few months to focus on the one job.

I’m getting closer to being able to replace my job and fund my lifestyle through trading the foreign exchange markets. It’s taken a few years of study and trial and error but I’ve been consistently profitable for a while now and I plan to have trading as my primary source of income.

I’m Greek, I’m now transitioning to fully remote. I think I have solved the first part: Creating a remote legal entity, a business bank account and having health insurance but I don’t know how to solve the pension issue.

As an EU citizen, either your employer contributes X% of your gross salary to the national/private pension funds, or if you are a freelancer you pay the equivalent to the freelancer pension fund of your country, which in many cases is also attached to the national insurance fund.

So as a fully remote person, not registered as an employee or freelancer in any EU country, only having an EU company for invoicing and money transfers, where and how do you contribute to a pension fund for you? And what fund would that be?

I’m talking about a core pension fund, similar to the one that you would have if you were registered as an employee or freelancer in your country. Not ancillary pension funds offered by insurance companies, as these mostly focus on covering additional aspects that may not be covered by the core pension fund you have and they assume you already have a core pension fund.

I will be traveling in Thailand from november to december and would like to know which internet option I should choose. I need to use internet for writing and research and also 1-2 skype calls a week.

I need what’s best in Krabi and Phuket… I already have an unlocked pocket Wi-Fi that allows both 3G and 4G, so I only need a Sim Card filled with internet. Unlimited data would be the best, but in reality I would be fine with around 10 GB if the speed is good.

So which options do I have and what are your experience?

I currently use Shipito and I’m pretty happy with their service. I have all my mail sent to my Shipito locker in Oregon and when I want it they’ll consolidate everything into one box and ship it out to me where ever I may be for a good price. I’ve even used it to get stuff I order from Amazon whilst abroad.

The problem is that they don’t offer item storage. There are some things that I want to store in my locker indefinitely / just in case I need them sent out to me.

Example:

Winter equipment / clothes. I want to store this stuff at the freight-fowarding company and have them sent out to me when I need it. When I don’t need it anymore, I’ll send it back for storage to the freight-forwarding company. Rinse and repeat as needed.

Any recommendations for companies available in the US, preferably with lots of warehouses, especially ones in Oregon or Nevada?

Hypothetical Scenario: Let’s say I’m traveling, and I’m using a Windows 10 laptop to get some work done. It’s 12 midnight, and my laptop(s) and luggage are suddenly lost. Maybe I went to a restaurant/bar/club, and thieves ransacked my hotel room while I was away. Whatever the case, I still have my wallet & smartphone, and that’s about it.

At this point, I need a replacement Windows 10 laptop, that I can install programs on, and I need it ASAP, so I can meet a deadline. What are my options?

Does anyone know of a service where I can buy SIM cards for countries before actually getting to the country? My mobile coverage doesn’t work most places out of the US (or it’s an exorbitant cost). I just want to land in the country, and pop in a SIM card right at the airport.

I thought it would be beneficial to have a little directory of digital nomads who surf. While I like to go surf places by myself and meet people on-location, going with fellow digital nomads on surf trips would definitely streamline everything a bit more (less partying, more surfing and working )

I am originally from Switzerland, currently in the Americas but heading towards South East Asia towards the end of the year (eyeing Sri Lanka, Indo and the Philippines) and then possibly Australia for fall.

I already have a remote job that I like and do not want to change it. I was thinking of moving to NZ in order to live there for a while - may be one or two years or more if me and my wife like to be there.
But it looks like tourist visa will not allow me us to stay there more than 9 month and other visas require some job offer which is not easy to get. So I was thinking if there is any simple way to move there except finding a new job binded to location in NZ.

Are there any nomad game developers here? or aspiring nomad game developers? It does seem to be an extreme rarity. Even moreso since most game devs typically don’t cross over with the web developer or startup crowds unless they have something like Unity3D in common. Also games are typically a lot more work than websites and are usually much less profitable at the indie/small studio level.

Was also thinking that anyone working on even moderately complex Unity games or high res 2d games might have assets and builds that are prohibitive to move around on countries with weaker internet, i.e. sub 5mbit, cough Australia etc. Would love to hear more experiences if you got them.

There are far more teams collaborating remotely out there just from what I know, but almost none of them are nomads with most AAA and vfx studios not working this way in part due to potential IP leaking issues but it seems not to be a problem with the kickstarter generation.

Here is me with a serious question again!

I travel the world alot but always go back to my home country for a couple of months each year. In this period I want to own a car. But because I do not live anywhere it is very difficult to own a car. I cant put the car I want on my parents name because of their salary and the Netherlands being very strict on that.

What options do I have to owning a car?
I know things should be possible just like afrojack who had a car with german license plates!!

Any advice on this?

Anyone doing the nomad thing as a true consultant in the sense of the word? as in you are billing based on the value of your advice/solution but not responsible for the actual implementation and day-to-day.

I’ve always silently snickered at those who think they’re IT consultants but are actually IT contractors on some 6 year govt boondoggle etc.

I’d argue that management consultants may have been the first actual digital nomads. Maybe? lol
