Málaga is great. I don't agree on the comment that says it is not used to digital nomads, the person hasn't made a proper research. There are a lot of hostels, amazing night life, people are very cool and respectful, young people know English, and it has lots of COWORKING areas, even in banks. But not all of this is only in the center of the city, you need to discover also Costa del Sol, with places like Benalmádena, Fuengirola and Marbella, where is full of digital nomads that come the area because of the weather, the food and the great prices!

For anyone who has traveled a lot Málaga will be underwhelming. The weather is AMAZING but the city itself gets boring after 2 days and apart from the historic center most neighborhoods are not pretty to look at. The beaches are not very beautiful. The museums are not impressive and people are not used to digital nomads so if you're not fluent in Spanish it will be nearly impossible to make friends. Public transportation works quite well but to get to the better hiking spots you will need a rental car.

Its the paradise but getting really expensive! It actually makes sense! I would recomend Fuengirola! Regardles of the fact that is more expensive than Malaga city center. Good luck in la costa del sol. It hepls you if you speak Spanish! You are in Spain! Dont forget that!
