Tried searching through this chat but didn't find much. For stays of about 1 month, what is your preferred way to find a place? Are we just taking the pricer Airbnb's for the sake of convenience?

Planning to stay in Barcelona here soon, but I'm open to hearing your thoughts if it applies to other cities in Spain as well.

I did this when I was considering Spain. Problem with short term rentals in these coastal towns is that they push up the prices considerably in the summer, and usually the prices you see on sites like idealista come with a fine print (I.e.: prices shown on listing is for low season eg Jan-Feb, hidden agent fees, minimum length stays, etc). IMHO I’d say your best bet is to do airbnb or Vrbo maybe? Haven’t tried the latter but I was considering it

Yeah I think you're right. Will probably just bite the bullet and do some 3k/month place on Airbnb. I never realized how popular Spain was. Only just recently found out it is the second most visited country in the world. lol

you can try some nearby towns, might offer a bit of a better price. I was looking primarily at Malaga and Mallorca, which might have slightly better deals than Barcelona

I'll know for next year in Europe, book early. At least I found a decent place in Porto for a month that wasn't too expensive. Will be there in June. Was thinking maybe Prague in July. The prices aren't as bad as Barcelona. Just want to be somewhere walkable with decent weather and not too expensive if I can.

It’s not correct. Tax residence doesn’t depend on the visa. Initially one of the requirements of the DN visa was to stay 183 days in Spain (and this makes you a tax resident), but it was cancelled.

Depends. If you’re an autonomo you are signing a document where you’re obligated to pay social security tax and income taxes

You have 2 options for nomad visa. Work remotely on your company or if you’re a contractor you need to make autonomo in Spain

Right, but with your first comment you just skipped the whole option and said that DN = Autonomo = Tax residence. And this is just not fully correct. There are options to be a DN without being a Tax resident, when you are not a contractor and not autonomo, don’t stay 183 days in the country and probably something else. That’s all I wanted to say.

I recommend you Tarifa, Bolonia, Caños de Meca, El Palmar, Conil de la Frontera but to be honest everything is pure paradise. Have a look at the places on internet, if you are looking for something less crowdy, let me know
