I've spent a lot of time figuring all things out, consulting with lawyers and tax advisors from different companies. Basically if you move your tax residency here and you're one-man company which you just use to work as a contractor to optimize taxes - that won't work here. You'll have to become Autonomo (solo entrepreneur) here and pay progressive taxes. If you have more people in your company and actually doing business, then you can either move the company here to Spain, but taxes might be higher here and most probably are for the company or keep the company running in Estonia, paying all business taxes there, but since you'll become tax resident here in Spain you'll still have to pay the same progressive taxes regardless of where you're employed. Basically you can't work in other country and pay taxes there. You have to pay taxes here in Spain
vaisov 3mo
so the main questions for now is - are you doing business with your company or just use it as contractor for tax optimizations?
vaisov 3mo
based on that the options differ
simonu 3mo
The company is mainly for the purpose of invoicing, having a Vat and then paying me a steady salary. I get the work via upwork or other channels and its bundled in the company, basically.
So it sounds that auronomo would be the way to go
vaisov 3mo
Yes, Autonomo is the only way in your case.
These are the tax brackets:

From โ‚ฌ0 to โ‚ฌ12,450, you're taxed at 19%.
From โ‚ฌ12,451 to โ‚ฌ20,200, it's 24%.
From โ‚ฌ20,201 to โ‚ฌ35,200, it's 30%.
From โ‚ฌ35,201 to โ‚ฌ60,000, it's 37%.
From โ‚ฌ60,001 to โ‚ฌ300,000, it's 45%.
Over โ‚ฌ301,000, it's 47%.
doramas 3mo
U guys pay taxes??
vaisov 3mo
tell me how to avoid that :D
doramas 3mo
Residence in country A (no tax on income generated elsewhere), company in country B (some jurisdiction without corporate tax and no taxes if owner lives elsewhere)
there is also an option, since you have an estonian company - you can infact pay yourself a salary being a spanish tax payer, just need to register estonian company with spanish labor authorities to pay social security and file reports on that (not to be confused with filling taxes, that is separate matter)
vaisov 3mo
you'll still have to pay progressive taxes on this salary, so in the end you don't optimize anything
Yes, its just that you can pay yourself lower salary (leaving some money on the company balance), put some expenses on the company, and thus optimise a bit.
vaisov 3mo
Yes, that's exactly what I was talking about with lawyers and tax advisors. All of them told me to just not bother. The save is really small, and if you get checked you'll have problems which will cost you much more time and money than you might save using these schemes. Spanish tax agency is quite famous for their ways or making your life miserable :)
simonu 3mo
I don't mind paying the taxes, obviously it would be preferable to be on a lower bracket but paying is not the issue.

It was more of the general structure, if it even makes sense to keep the company, or move it to Spain. I read about the backhams law , but it looks like this won't apply to me.

Thank you. I might consider the way of salary and register the company with Spain. Need to see how that works
Any particular reason you want to be a Spanish tax resident?

Asking because Estonia has better corporate taxes and personal income tax.
tasosv 3mo
Anyone will be in Las Palmas, Gran Canaria for the month of September????
vaisov 3mo
I guess because he wants to live in Spain :)
simonu 3mo
After several years of traveling, my partner and me a bit tired and want to settle somewhere a bit. Since we spent the last 2 years in south america we both speak a bit Spanish and we liked Spain. Would be hard to not pay tax then
Remember that the tax brackets is not that if you earn 59,000 you will fall in the 37% tax. You pay the tax percentage for the amount of the bracket until your total salary. So you pay 19% until 12,450. Then you pay 24% of 7750(because 20000-12451), and so on
So for 59000 the total percentage is around 29% in taxes
vaisov 3mo
Oh, that's good to know, thanks! ;)

Hey Guys, how are you?
Iยดm looking for a Apartment in Barcelona, want to stay there for 2 months, can you guys recommend another platform than AirBnB?
jeniapus 3mo
facebook
Same for Madrid - are Facebook groups legit?
jeniapus 3mo
Gotta be carful in Facebook though
jeniapus 3mo
Alot of scams.
jeniapus 3mo
Never pay upfront
jeniapus 3mo
To " save the room for you" lol
So are there any alternatives for 1-2 month rentals?
For Barcelona, I would recommend joining Barcelona Digital Nomads community. They have very active chats on whatsup and do a lot of live events.
I canโ€™t post links here yet, but you can find them on Meetup. Or I can try and invite you
Any advice re place to work from in Andorra ? Looking for laptop friendly bars/cafe - not coworking
Yeah issue with Estonia is that you canโ€™t bring your family - but with Spain you can bring your wife
josemd 2mo
hey did you go to eth 10 anniversary in andorra?
If you still there you can get in touch with https://x.com/EthAndorra they will help you there

Hey guys, I just got in Valencia and planning to stay here longer. Although the heat is pretty intense here!

Has anyone been nomading in the northern parts of Spain where the weather is bit colder?
There is a great village Mundaka, not many options for accommodation though. Bilbao is a very nice city too. As well as Santander and San Sebastiรกn.
Hi guys I am in Mallorca currently staying at Palma Coliving. happy to meet people here so DM me if youโ€™d like to connect or grab a coffee. Iโ€™m also looking for a room or coliving in a more quiet location than Palma city. Any tips appreciated ๐Ÿ™

Hey guys, booking my stay in Madrid rn and different people have recommended spotahome as well as Be Casa Apartments.

Have you guys used either service and can vouch for it?

The prices look much more sensible vs Airbnb, so wondering if thereโ€™s a catch or not
jeniapus 2mo
theres alot of reviews across the internet about spotahomes ..
jeniapus 2mo
alot arent good lol
jeniapus 2mo
usually regarding the landlords
jeniapus 2mo
and that spotahome didnt help with he dispute
jeniapus 2mo
its not like airbnb
Yeah just saw them, will stay away. Thanks for highlighting!
Spotahome is basically just a craigliat for apartments, so actual experience depends on the landlord and in spain they are notoriously not great.
For madrid check out homeclub.com - they manage apartments (sometime whole building) so experience would consistent and few years ago was really good.
Thanks, found a decent place through Airbnb this time but will keep in mind!

Whatโ€™s the nomad situation in Madrid like actually? Any meetups or WhatsApp groups worth attending?
Hi anyone in Palma until end of August?:) happy to meet other digital nomads!

hey folks, gonna spend one month in barcelona in september. Just looking for some recommendations of coworks in the area between born and el poblenou. Thanks!
I'm also spending september in Barcelona, do you know of any meetups?
Where can i find this info to confirm? About allowing to stay less than 6 months minimum to maintain the DN visa? Thanks
alexeev 2mo
Hey, here itโ€™s important to distinguish the difference between tax residence and just residence.

In Spain, one of the factors to consider you as a tax resident is your stay in the country longer than or equal to 6 months.

I remember that in the beginning of the DM visa, staying 6 months in the country was one of the requirements, later it was declined.

However, Iโ€™m not sure if itโ€™s valid right now, especially taking into account that in Spain some of the rules are โ€œoralโ€. Like they are not written in the law, but they are generally accepted.

Can anyone recommend a good coworking space in Madrid? Most places I find are very oriented to small companies and not freelancers.
Hey there,
Iโ€™m new, I have some questions for Spain nomad visa, should I ask here?
I am going to apply for the Digital Nomad Visa. For the financial statement requirement, I would like to ask if Deel.com is acceptable for the Visa officer. My company pays me through Deel.com, and I do not have traditional bank statements.

Could you please confirm if financial records from Deel.com would be sufficient, or if I must also provide bank statements?
mrgusev 1mo
I provided invoices from Deel and it was fine. But I also attached bank statements with deel withdrawals.
Thank you for reply.

I canโ€™t find deel name in bank statement since they are using provider to transfer money to the bank.

Did you have the same issue? And what else did you provided from deel? Just your invoice? And also did you used the Deel contract as your main contract?

Thanks in advance ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป
mrgusev 1mo
- Deel contracts yes
- just invoices yes
- I think you donโ€™t need to worry that the bank statement doesnโ€™t say deel, itโ€™s important to show that you actually received the money. If you are not sure, just in case also provide deel statements for the payouts, I think they should have it.
Thank you so much ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป

Barcelona - Hi everyone! Iโ€™m sharing with you the transfer dossier of a yoga and wellness studio belonging to a friend. In this document, youโ€™ll find all the relevant details about the business, as well as the contact information in case you or someone you know might be interested. Thank you!

Can anyone recommend a NIE service (and knows if temporary NIE is enough to start at a job)?

I looked at the pinned rebase, but thereโ€™s no pricing attached.
dimuuu 15d
NIE is a tax id, and itโ€™s permanent

do you mean residence permit?
janniks 15d
Yeah looks like itโ€™s technically not needed but my employer needs it for some reason. (Although they legally shouldnโ€™t)
dimuuu 15d
youโ€™re gonna be asked for NIE literally everywhere in spain, no surprise employer wants it too

itโ€™s fairly easy to get one, you donโ€™t need anything special, just a good enough reason (employment should work)

i donโ€™t know exact requirements though, so iโ€™d suggest finding someone to help get all docs, especially if they can later help with visa if youโ€™d need one

but NIE is just a tax number, you get it once for whole life
vaisov 13d
I've got mine from mynie.co.uk
The cheapest I could find and they send you all the info and instructions how to do everything

Any nomads living in Alicante ? The Valencia rentals are crazy and wanted to see what other options I have ?

Any inputs guys ?
Also would like to know this
I live in Alicante (and lived for 6 months in Valencia). I like it more here (better beaches, more mountains, decent city life and transport options...). I even bought a place, but if you like big cities with a lot of events and that stuff, it might be too small for you.

Thanks a bunch ๐ŸคŸ๐Ÿผ

Hey guys ๐Ÿ‘‹ Iโ€™m interviewing with a company thatโ€™s international but has presence in Spain. If I have the ability to choose between work visa (HQP) and digital nomad visa, which is better? (And gives me flexibility to change companies while being in Spain)
dimuuu 21h
canโ€™t answer your questio fully but there are some things to consider, especially based on the salary they offered:

as nomad youโ€™ll likely have to register as self-employed (autonomo) meaning youโ€™d have to do some accounting and reporting

taxes for autonomo in spain can be brutal, specifically social security contributions, although i donโ€™t know what the situation is for employed people, but it must be better

on the other hand autonomo lets you write off business expenses, which can be most of the tech you buy
dimuuu 21h
nomad visa is quite flexible in terms of changing jobs, but youโ€™re expected to report any changes during one month

p.s. actually might not be true, likely you just need to make sure your income meets requirements, they will only be asking on renewal
