Taghazout is a small Moroccan surf town that's popular among digital nomads and travelers looking to enjoy the beach and relaxed vibes. It offers good internet, sunny weather, and friendly locals who are usually very willing to help. The place has affordable housing options, with basic apartments going for around $300 a month or homes priced near $25,000 for purchase. There's easy access to surfing, street food, and opportunities to experience Berber culture. There's also an investment boom in the area, with many new developments underway, though the area isn’t as cheap or sleepy as often advertised.
On the downside, several visitors report issues with cleanliness, particularly sewage-related problems and roaches, which may affect accommodations near recent street works. Some travelers also mention getting sick, potentially from local water. A few reviews suggest it doesn’t feel entirely safe all the time, and petty hustles like offers to buy weed are common. Another practical downside is the lack of convenient ATM machines—be prepared to travel to nearby towns for reliable access to cash. Noise from the main street—caused by barking dogs or general activity—might also be a nuisance for those seeking total peace and quiet.
Overall, Taghazout offers a rewarding, laid-back experience best suited for surfers and those flexible with rustic conditions.

Here nearly a week and feeling like I'm only just finding my feet and wish I had come here sooner. Tiny place that revolves around surfing and skateboarding (fishing isn't as prevalent as I was expecting and much less compared to Essaouira). It's also not as 'sleepy' as everyone describes and not as cheap. Everyone knows each other and it's easy to dig into berber culture. Start with the taxi rank manager and ask about pretty much anything. Moroccan's love to help. You'll be sold weed every 10 meters, make of that what you will. Best things to do here are eat, surf and relax. Seems like a lot of construction and investment is going into this place so catch it while it's 'quiet'. I'd avoid staying on the main street as it's loud pretty much all the time with dogs barking, cats fighting, etc. I found Booking (website) to be the cheapest accommodation but nothing beats landing and getting stuck in to find a place for even cheaper. There is no bank machine in Taghazout. One in the Radisson nearby (when it works) and the next closest is Tamraght (I found one that doesn't charge). Sunny and chill. Fun if you like surfing and relaxing on the beach.

Just got here, it's busy summer season with lots of Moroccon tourists and some free Berber concerts! In about ten days it will quit down as people return
to work and school.
Overall I'm enjoying the vibe and Internet is good. I read they fixed the sewage problem that other reviewers have mentioned. I will post another review after a few weeks.
I was speaking to a local and he said rent for a basic apartment is max $300 and you can purchase one for about 25k (60 sq meters two bedroom)

Well. Stayed 3 days close to the beach. Last day on the toilet and 2 days in the bed at home (Czech Rep.). Cought the famous disease from water probably. So my review is probably not objective :-). My nomadic experience about Morroco however is quite poor. Dirty, uncertain, you can't believe anyone, not feeling safe at all ... I am maybe too old for this kind of adventure :-)

Hope you like dirty, overcrowded beaches and cockroaches. My apartment was swamped by roaches after sewage works in the street a few days prior. Unfortunately I fell for the hype and paid for it. Could be a decent nomad place, but definitely far from it in my experience.

This is a very laidback fisher village. Compared to the crowded places in Agadir and Marrakech this town is way better. There is good and cheap food and also modern hostels and co-working spaces. If you are into surfing this place is also paradise, for advanced surfers 'Boilers' is the place to go.
