Can anyone recommend a good nomad spot with surf and a good cowork?

Thinking of spending three months September - December this year out there
moises001 3mo
A friend from Argentina stood in Los Cabos for a few weeks, no complain about internet speed and there are some coworking spaces

You will very likely get a gastro related infection (due to the water). Itโ€™s an amazing place besides this

Hello! Me and my girlfriend are trying to figure out how to handle Visas so that we can stay in Mexico for an extended period of time and work on our startups. We are US citizens and we would like to live in Mexico for at least 6 months while we build our businesses. We're trying to get temporary residency visas. Since we don't have secured remote jobs we don't meet the ongoing and income requirements but we do meet the investment income requirements. I'm curious what others have done. Are people just going on tourist visas?
atti1a 3mo
US citizens can stay for 180 days w/o visa + no wait time for clock reset...
leighb77 3mo
Which are the best areas for 4-6 months to knuckle down and work on your start up ? I was looking at tulum or playa del Carmen but keen to hear other input ๐Ÿ˜
If you are looking for beach, I have no input. I can only speak for Mexico City (CDMX). In CDMX, I suggest colonia "La Condesa" or Roma.
atti1a 3mo
you may like san jose del cabo, but my reqs are few when grinding
leighb77 3mo
I love the beach for when I take. Break get some air , walk etc -thanks ๐Ÿ˜
leighb77 3mo
Yes beach for me thank you

From what we have read it's technically illegal to make money online while there on a tourist visa. However it seems enforcement of this is low. Is this what other nomads are doing?
I already had a contract when I moved to Mexico, obtaining my residential visa. However, I think the claim that you cannot work in Mexico w/o a residential visa (i.e. only a tourist visa) is incorrect without qualification. Specifically, you are likely not allowed to have income from a Mexican source while on a tourist visa. If, however, you have income from elsewhere (i.e. online work from a U.S. based company) then you should be fine.
As for staying more than six months...
1) Normally the process of obtaining a residential visa must begin in the U.S., but visiting a Mexican consulate (and typically you make an appointment with them, for which you must wait 3 months). They will expect a lot of paperwork from you.
2) If meanwhile you have only a tourist visa, you can fly back to the U.S. for a couple days - then return to Mexico - to cause your tourist visa duration to be reset back to zero.

When I got my residency through regularization, immigration asked if I was working and where the company was based. They had no issues and mostly seemed concerned I could support myself.

del cabo has beaches. less touristy than cabo san lucas. would also look into cozumel

If anyone was planning on going to the coast of Oaxaca anytime soon its probably a good idea to change plans. Sounds like they will be rebuilding for quite some time after tonights hurricane.

How bad did u guys get hit in puerto?
glyphx 3mo
Sounds like between Barra 2 and Zicatela is in OK shape so far with no deaths. Still waiting for more info as its mostly just scattered reports coming through. I had an appointment out of town so missed this one.
Has anyone taken direct flight to USA, used the ESTA Visa and then taken a direct flight to Mexico without any forward/return tickets. Is this possible or not? I'm from Germany
sergeishk 2mo
Which bank would you recommend for opening an account (I have residency)? I'm looking for a simple everyday account with reasonable fees, a good online banking system, and without the need for a permanent address since I travel around the country frequently
Unfortunately youโ€™re still required to register for taxes after a total of 6 months spent in the country. How many people actually do that? Idk
sakispal 2mo
Hi everyone, any easy ways to get around the income proof for Mexican residency ? The amount required is pretty high
curious what the required amount is
sakispal 2mo
Between $4-5k per month I believe

Hello everyone,
I hope you're all good.

Iโ€™ll be in Mexico starting early September and am looking to join a coliving or creative community where I could contribute my skills in social media, content creation, visual identity or design ideally in exchange for accommodation, or through a volunteer arrangement (Iโ€™ve been working as a freelance art director and content strategist for 6 years).

Iโ€™m also open to helping with other needs around whether itโ€™s supporting events, community-building, or even hands-on help like animal care, light construction, or language exchange (I speak fluent English, French and Spanish).

If you know anyone, I would be super grateful if you could spread the word.
Thank you so much in advance for your help! Have a lovely day/night! ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ
Whats the best place in mx with the best DN community? Considering Tulum or Playa del Carmen. Mexico city seems too hectic
vike27 1mo
What are you criteria? Playa and Tulum can be great for the nomad, nature, expat vibes. But the beaches are mid and overrated in my opinion, you have to drive quite a bit to get to truly beautiful beaches. Cabo and La Paz have more beautiful beaches, a huge fishing/surf/scuba/diving/beach sport community and a calmer and more laid back town with lots of English spoken that could be better for focused work. Then you have the Oaxaca/puerto Escondido beach area for a more authentic Mexican vibe. Maybe you can 2 weeks in each and then settle where you prefer? The safest bet is Tulum/Playa for most as itโ€™s the easiest transition with developed nomad communities but I prefer La Paz for focused work and a laid back small town beach vibe.
vike27 1mo
Will be in Mexico City for approximately a month starting Aug 12th. Any nomad meetups or communities I can join?
leighb77 1mo
Thank you so much zsgumvku I prefer the sound of Cabo and La Paz as long as there is strong wifi for work - feels more my vibe when I am doing focused work . Thank you so much for taking the time to provide your feedback and insights - much appreciated. Going to do some research on those places thank you
kaskuk 1mo
Capo is more touristy vibes & La Paz more local vibes, but Iโ€™m sure you already knew it.
vike27 1mo
Final thing to note is that Cabo/LaPaz are desert nature scenes. Where Tulum/playa are jungle/forest type nature scenes so depending on your preference that might also be something to consider
kaskuk 1mo
La Paz will be propably also the place where you will struggle the most without Spanish.
leighb77 1mo
Actually never been to Mexico so didnโ€™t know ๐Ÿ˜ I have web traveling Europe Middle East and Asia Africa not seen much in central and South America yet
leighb77 1mo
I speak a little ๐Ÿค lived in Spain for five years before the euro ๐Ÿ˜Ž
leighb77 1mo
Good to know thank you - i like both ๐Ÿ˜ my preference would be whichever is good for walking and running. Also calmer seas as i love to ocean swim train - I like to be outdoors when im not working - thanks for the tips
kaskuk 1mo
Mexico is actually part of North America. ๐Ÿ˜
vike27 1mo
For regular swimming Tulum and playa are better. Cabo beaches are rough. But you have a lot more surf/wind water sports

Hi is there anyone in Guadalajara? I'll be going there on sunday for a month staying in Col Americana with my girlfriend. Hope to meet some fellow nomads and find a good coworking. I've been in mexico before and lived in spain for 1,5 year so i speak some spanish. If anyone is up for meeting or have tips and tricks for good coworkings or cafes to work from I'll be happy to hear from you ๐Ÿคž
Any recommendations on a coliving in Guadalajara? Must haves - good Internet, kitchen, outdoor patio of some kind, safe area to walk in, and local nightlife. TIA!
I stayed at Lola for a month and it met those requirements. Sadly, it looks like theyโ€™ve closed.
kit123 21h
