Hey all, I'm planning to do a visa run from Da Nang and going through my options, which rn are either bus to Laos and back or flight to Thailand and back.

How does this practically work? Can I just hop over the border and hop back in with a stamp?

It works sometimes but I wouldn't do this trick alone, maybe with a visa-run company. They may cost the same as a trip to the border but these guys know what to tell officers and who to bribe in case you get questioned.

Honestly, I think it's the best to fly to Bangkok and back for you. When I needed to visa-run from Da Nang last time, I considered Laos and Korea (there are cheap flights to Seoul). I didn't commit for a Laotian visa-run because it was too much of a hastle and much time wasted on the road. Korea may be on your radar; if you go without a baggage flight price is almost the same as to Bangkok but Korea sounds funner.

Yes we are) Check Quy Nhon it's city like Da Nang before get famous and located the same way even southern. Or check Can Tho its situated on Mekong Delta cozy city close to Ho Chi Minh the same as Vung Tau beach located resort around 2 hour by car. Or you can try live at Don Hoi nice city close to well-known Phong-Kha – Kebab caves. And my humble opinion not choose Vinh it's failure.

Quy Nhon is so cheap. Went there 3 years ago and at the time I lived in Hanoi and was used to the low prices, but Quy Nhon was just another level of low. Great vibes from the locals

Hoi ăn is very small. Personally I live in Da Nang and I go to hoi an a couple times a month to hang out. It’s only about 30 min away and it’s a nice drive down the coast. If you don’t care about the creature comforts of a city then hoi an has charm

We enjoyed both Hoi An and Hue more than Da Nang. Both are more peaceful and cleaner in our opinion. Really depends on what you're after. 🙂👍🏻

Yeah different vibes but my point is i kinda consider Hoi An and Da Nang as the same city so you can have both. You can’t even get halfway across LA in the time it takes to hop between the 2.

Yep, been here a few times for 1-3 months. It’s great, back again for a few weeks now.
Smaller area, beach, old town. Lots of restaurants, cafes etc. great coworking space- Hub Hoi An. Great to just go out and get lost in the rice fields on a bike/scooter, head to the hills etc.

Really hard to beat the nomad community in Da Nang. Though if you’re interest in setting up a business in vietnam and working with locals, you can’t beat Saigon. Hue and Hoi An absolutely have their charms, are fun, and I like both, but the lack of a foreigner community would be a dealbreaker for me in any kind of longer stay situation.
