Heyy, I just found this https://enostaspace.com but I messaged them and they donโ€™t have availability for the dates that I need so Iโ€™ll end up booking an Airbnb in An Thuong or My Khe
Btw if someone could recommend which of those two areas is better to stay for a month Iโ€™d appreciate ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป
andrej 13d
An Thuong. Everything you need day-to-day in short walking distance. Most of the people staying long term
Any cool people in Ho Chi Minh right now? Will be here for the next two weeks.
Thanks bro. Because of your message, I'll be going there next week ๐Ÿ˜Ž

See you on the beach volley beaches ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ

Does anyone know where can I exchangeUSD in Hanoi ??
Check into hotels much?
My suggestion is not to overthink it. Did some googling and saw that D1 is highly recommended, asked in here and someone confirmed it's good. So I booked in D1. I'm really happy with where I picked so far.
I've only been here two days, so I can't really give much advice yet, but I will say that it might be helpful to pick up some cash. This cafe accross from my Airbnb only takes cash and it's a nice looking cafe, not like a super local thing. So probably good to have like 1m or something on you
I lived in D2 Thao Dien for 2 weeks.

A lot of coffee shops, gyms and restaurants are in walking distance, and itโ€™s quite calm.

Iโ€™d recommend it if you want less buzz :)

You could do D1 or Binh Thanh. Grab cars are available at night too, so donโ€™t worry about having to stay near nightlife etc.
Are there much, much more tourist + remote workers in Da Nang these days? Or at least western tourist, don't know about korean places. Sure seems like it.
Also #2 on the nomadlist ranking, makes sense.
Is there any nomad meet tonight or tomorrow in danang? Saw there is a nomad conference but ths looks like a money grab
Staying in son trah closer to the beach side. Waking distance to that space. It's pretty convenient
mrhuebner 10d
Usually these conferences are ten times worth the money. ๐Ÿ˜‰

A conversation with the right person saves you an hour wasted on YouTube tutorials.

Tonight there is a free side event to the Vietnam Nomad Fest hosted by the people of the Chiang Mai Nomad Summit. Registration required (as there are free drinks and capacity is limited):

Thanks looks cool Sergio!!!

Been to Danang a lot, but always during decent weather.

Got here yesterday.

Glad to experience the weather. Major downgrade in weather from Saigon.

Scratches it off the list. Personally couldnโ€™t do it.
Is da nang just rats, broken roads, bad traffic and mediocre beach?
or did i miss something when I went there on november (yeah it was not the high season, so this I think influenced my view)
but yeah, i did some tour there with getyourguide, but after that, what are you doing in da nang?
does it have places to party like in thailand?
the accomodations were hard to find, there is insects issues, even the hotels in front of the sea aren't so good
what do you usually do in da nang?
and when i just went a bit away from the beach (where there were rats, but whatever, i got used to it).. it was just all like outskirts of the city
Sounds like you must either have been in the completely wrong part of the city and just not found the right spots or you're just in general not a person who enjoys South East Asia...
I enjoy thailand
I've been in my an / my khe i don't remember, anyway the area that is shown as "main area" on nomadlist
in that time anyway i've never seen people swimming in the sea, and i didn't swim there too
probably with sun it's better
but anyway , here in phuket i can go to kata beach for example, then if i want to go out i go to bangla road, that's it but at least i have something to do?
i'm genuinely asking
maybe i was missing something
Even though Thailand and Vietnam hardly compare in other things but the quality of roads and the presence of rats is quite similar. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Da Nang has developed to be a great remote work hot spot due to a good mix of Vietnamese authentic lifestyle and an abundance of good coworking spaces, coffee culture, food variety on a good standard and a vibrant nomad community! This week for example there is the Vietnam Nomad Fest happening with a ton of workshops and side events. So you definitely found good ways to connect with an interesting crowd here.
Must be.
yeah but what about the tourist side of it
This is nomads.com, not tourists.com ๐Ÿ˜‰
i don't go to work in coffee shops / coworking, i just work in my room and then i have days when i go out or i go out in the evening
coffee shops is just distraction instead of work, for me at least, if i have to go out i don't go out with my laptop, and if i do maybe yeah but just with a good view or something, outdoor not in a coffee shop

also coffee culture, i don't understand what people mean
because as much as i've seen, at least both in thailand and vietnam, coffee seems to be brown water, and if there is some milk in it it's waterish strange-flavoured milk that is mostly imported powdered from the west and not good to the taste, with a 2 or 3 exceptions i researched
idk if that's american coffee how you do in america or in other parts of europe, i never tried it there, but i tried it in cofee shops in thailand and vietnam
(i'm from italy)
Are you just trolling here or are these your genuine observations...? ๐Ÿ˜ƒ
no, genuine observations
from real life
I asked: what's there to do in da nang
You answered: coffee shops
and not so precise thiings like "vibrant nomad community" (like nomads hugging and jumping and kissing and dancing ? what does it mean? lol)

how can strangers be vibrant? at maximum they can act kind or want to enjoy some experience together. that's normal? It also depends on the person

What is "vietnamese authentic lifestyle"?
Are other lifestyles not authentic? Lol
It's like when foreigners come to italy and talk about "italian authentic lifestyle". Yeah that's advertisement/stereotype/ig reels? It's not that you go to vietnam and magically you are in a tiktok video. You go out, you walk, you have roads under your feet, there is a blue sky, people have two legs and two hands (mostly)

Lol. "vietnamese authentic lifestyle"? You mean, just vietnamese people? Okay, the people were good, I can agree. Or you mean fake experiences to feel "authentic"?
Food variety on a good standard? Yeah in some places food was okay, but the quality of ingredients was not always the best. I liked a lot bun cha ha noi, until after having it some times I started to feel the low quality fat of the meat in my mouth. Few dishes were okay , yeah good, but it's not to me that they were better than italian food (from south of italy for example) or japanese cuisine. That's tastes, okay
I felt a bit "scammed" by videos of nomads saying how da nang is so amazing with color corrections on their videos making it seem so unbelievable and with so many things to do

It's a beach. With a sea. Some asian people. Some tourists. You go away from the beach, it's mostly a broken city/road/buildings with bad traffic around. I did some guided tour, went out in some places, etc, I even did karaoke with a random family that singed together with me. Okay. But I haven't found much else
I also was there during low season so yeah maybe now there are more events to do etc because there is higher tourism. Okay that's nice
Vibrant community means having a full event calendar of meetups, events, sports activities, outdoor stuff, and other opportunities to mingle and get to know people.
"Authentic local" means opposed to fake tourist attractions and rip-offs.
Okay how does someone have that full event calendar ?
Also: how do you work in the meantime. And how much does it cost. These are two fundamental factors to take into the math here
That seems interesting
And for the authentic local things, yeah, idk how much living there a couple weeks or a couple months as a foreigner with much more money than the average local, can be an authentic local experience. I never tried to feel "authentic" and local. I'm authentic just as I am lol. I won't ever be an"authentic vietnamese" cause I'm not vietnamese and I come from a privileged country compared to theirs, so it's not a "local experience" imo, it's just not getting scammed. I thought this was normal.. like.. "not getting scammed" is not "authentic local experience", it's just not getting scammed

This thing I also see with americans coming to italy. If you go to italy and eat a pizza you're not an authentic italian. If someone gets you to think that, that's a scam lol. You're just eating a pizza in italy that is not a scam (fake bad overpriced pizzas that some bad people sell to tourists). This makes sense. "authentic local experience" seems just marketing words, to me

The authentic local doesn't do most of those activities, probably. So they are anyway targeted to foreigners/tourists/nomads

Troll removed?
Never understood the obsession with meetups. Not hard to meet people. Find places/ activities you like, become a regular. That's it.

Meetups often draw the socially inept.
What do you mean by this? Itโ€™s a few days of unusually bad weather. Will be sunny again soon.
Or do both lol
Meaning, Iโ€™ve heard nothing but complaints about the weather for months. Assumed the worst of it over.

Didnโ€™t expect, 22 and overcast for days.

Welcome to Vietnam. Safer than France, Germany, Italy - https://www.cbsnews.com/news/spring-break-travel-dangers-fbi-warning/
I have had huge issue with wifi all over Vietnam. There definitely are good places, but I would assume most places have crap wifi unless there are good reviews to the contrary.
khizrs 7d
Ignore the reviews and see for yourself
Also here working in HCMC (first time) let me know if you find something! Iโ€™m just using local cafes, and so far the WiFi has been fine everywhere. 300+ in one right by my Airbnb.
I feel like I keep running into scammy agents asking for huge deposits, the owner is never present, and I visited flats in the same building but not the actual unit. Does anyone have a serious, verified, and trusted agent theyโ€™d recommend? Maybe rardygchgt

Yes, I can recommend my agent
