mh okay but for example if I have 20th March wrritten on my passport as exit date, can I leave on 20th March or should I leave on 19th March (at least)
oskars 2mo
Ehh, I don't have exit dates on a stamp when I enter Malaysia, they only write an entrance date and number of days I can spend in the country (30 days for me). This means I have to leave in 30 days INCLUDING entrance and exit date.
for those like me who have an e-passport page, it's even worse. I don't have any stamp. I assume the stay is still 3 months (as it was 3 months stamp even if you asked for a weekend to the agent) but I can't be sure. I filled the MDAC arrival cars telling them I was planning to stay 1 month but what if I want to stay longer ? I'm actually planning a trip to Singapore just to be safe
Your maximum stay is determined not by a stamp or MDAC, but by your passport
oskars 1mo
Just for noting somewhere, once I got a stamp for 7 days instead of 30 in Malaysia because I had bad history.
Very interesseted to meet some nomads in KL, are you okay for planning a meetup ?
I'll be in KL from 15-19, I'm down

Hi any meets plans week of March 10 in Kuala Lumpur?
regiani 24d
2 weeks in KL, better to stay in a hotel or try to find a condo?
majariusz 24d
same consideration here
from my personal point of view, go to an hotel, airbnb or booking.com. Finding a short term appartment (even less than 6 months), it's pretty hard and costing. Also, this guide agrees that we should go to Airbnb when you stay less than 3 months : https://klnomads.anonoz.com/neighbourhoods/
or even better, you can come to Nomad House (where I currently live) : https://www.instagram.com/kl.coliving/

"Just" my a$$. A store will demand your passport, make a copy of it, and you have no idea who will get that data.

Airalo doesn't require any KYC.
allgo 24d
Furama Hotel was surprisingly comfortable, had breakfast included, and not that loud (good luck getting a quiet place in KL without the mat rempits scumbags revving up their motorcycles at all hours of the night)

Anyone in Penang atm? I'm here until Thursday
Hi there! From monday at least
Hello. Is it better to stay in Phuket or Kuala Lumpur, during April, weather-wise? Sun and less rain is better.
itsbeau 19d
Iโ€™m also here until Thursday ๐Ÿ‘‹
Hello Guys! Iโ€™m currently in Phuket and heading to KL in a few weeks. Are card payments usually allowed there? Or easy ways to withdraw moneyโ€ฆ Iโ€™m kind of struggling with that here in Thailand and was wondering if Malaysia is the same or not
Iโ€™ll be mostly in KLCC fyi
oskars 19d
Yep, plenty of ATMs don't take a fee for withdrawing. Many stores accept cards or cash. Even more accept Touch-N-Go, it's an app with QR payments, you can register as a foreigner and top up from Wise.
Thank you!! ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป
Also, as a foreigner you can buy a Touch-N-Go card at Watson (for 25 RM) but you need to pay in cash so visit an ATM first. I am using Wise and I always had minimal or no ATM fees

any great recommendations for cool cafes in the KL centre??
Lol I was looking to do the same, or extend phuket stay
the thing is, from what I read in the past about kuala lumpur, it seems there isn't much to do other than staying in the condominium and seeing some mall

also, kuala lumpur is pretty always cloudy. and in april it will have more rain (total) and more days of rain than phuket, anyway
why are you going to kuala lumpur? maybe i'm missing something
nthnjns 18d
KL is malls and mosques. That's literally it.

I love the food and using it as an alternative to traffic-clogged/air-polluted Bangkok, but it's not the most exciting destination.

But it is a good place to chill if you have to get some real work done. March and April are the hottest months: the sun is usually on full blast.

Otherwise, the perpetual cloud cover is pretty nice if you walk a lot (easier said than done).
I'm italian. I like sun. In italy we try to get tan, here they try to escape tan
Anyway, so you think it's better to stay in phuket?
in kuala lumpur there is no bangla road right? No partying/fun?
actually i saw april and kuala lumpur seems more rainy than phuket anyway. about the sun, i don't know, but last time i checked it was cloudy all year
1 million dollar question: between phuket and kuala lumpur, where would you stay in april? pawgcagsq
I'll blindly let you decide my whole life for the entire month of april with this one single leveraged answer, but without any legal liability
KL definitly
ccooper 18d
some partying and fun, but definitely less. It rains most afternoons, but tends to be short spells.
majariusz 18d
just arrived in KL, I'm sure I'll find more than just mosques and malls lol
Shenzhen, then HK, now KL
so far nothing beats SZ ๐Ÿ˜
majariusz 18d
been 4 months in a desert city so KL air is aaaamaaaazing
majariusz 18d
so who is up for a meetup this week in KL? how many nomads can we gather #catchemall
nthnjns 17d
Haha. April sucks in SEA, I always leave by then. Japan is optimal in April. Sakura crowds are gone so it's not as hot/crowded as the summer. Go to Okinawa if you want the beach. Or Shanghai if you want a big city. Or maybe Lombok or something if you want a more isolated island. I personally head back to Europe in April if I'm not in Japan.
Iโ€™m in
before saturday
PHUKET VS KUALA LUMPUR FOR APRIL? What would you choose.

Why should I choose kuala lumpur if phuket has less rain anyway (both as total precipitation measured in inches + days of rain per month)
Also phuket has sea and has something to do, Kuala Lumpur is just mall and apartment (I heard saying)

Kuala Lumpur seems to be cloudy all year but someone told me that on april it's more sunny than the other months
But still, is the weather better than phuket, or not?

Yeah, with Kuala Lumpur I would see a new country, but.. whatever

Please give me an advice on this
https://klnomads.anonoz.com/pros-and-cons

As Anonoz says : "We are boring in a good way". It's true that the city is more urban and lots of shopping malls but there is more. It really depends on what you personally enjoy. I recommend you have a look at nomads.com, to compare with what others said and to come visit for a weekend. This is how I fell in love with KL.
PHUKET VS KUALA LUMPUR FOR APRIL? What would you choose
majariusz 13d
this question is tough to answer without knowing you or the calendar for the rest of the year

if you want variation in landscape and you already binged on water/beach areas then KL will be a nice change

if water is your element for April the Phuket (although plenty in KL just from above lol)

KL is a business city with tropical vibe, so you tell me if this is what you want
I want to stay in the place that has less rain and less clouds
Also, I like sea. I don't like concrete
I don't want to go to kuala lumpur but I don't know if phuket will be too much rainy in april
So that's why I'm asking
dahxwazafh what's your verdict?
majariusz 13d
Phuket.
Here is concrete. This is my first time in KL and I can't say that I see myself coming back here. Too much concrete.
majariusz 13d
went all the way to Cyberjaya to find a nice green space with less traffic but then it's like a usual american suburb (not talking usa)
it is missing water
I think having Mexico in the rotation is going to be better
majariusz 13d
mind you I am not going there lol
I opted for Da Nang, so gonna cut it short here and bounce next weekend
nomadslist shows that there are not rainy places in asia during may
is it true?
any suggestions on where to go in may to not be under rain? in asia/sea
I just realised I could have gone to Da Nang in april
TOday I just paid for visa extension in thailand!!
majariusz 11d
luckily April is still in the future ๐Ÿ˜‚
yeah but I extended the visa here for thailand..
anywhere.. 4.9 inches distributed in 15 days
i don't think it should be too bad
da nang ha 1.5 inches distributed in 5 days

so it's about the same quantity per rainy day, but it happens 3 times more in phuket
still much better than kuala lumpur who is >10 inches for 16 days

Which sim you guys are using
majariusz 10d
TuneTalk
Hotlink (Maxis) esim, there's an app on the stores
jayysd 10d
Thats the cheapest?
ccooper 10d
I pay 40 myr a month with umobile (actual sim) for unlimited 5g data etc
Also used TuneTalk in Malaysia. Had no problems. Was cheap. Also was the only option I could find for Esim. Everyone else only offered physical Sim.
majariusz 10d
I use a sim with tunetalk, 30gigs I think plus socials data free for some insignificant sum
jayysd 7d
Which service you guys use to get cleaning done for the airbnb apartment. The airbnb host is asking for RM130 is that the rate here?
We use recommend.my when our cleaner is busy.
Hot take. KL coffee culture is average ๐Ÿ˜‚

What is the best area to live in KL? Currently at Brickfields. Good/cheap, but places are far away.
jayysd 5d
Regalia residences
In KL, which medical clinic do you recommend for blood tests and getting a prescription?
I'm going to Prince Court Medical Center for tests tomorrow
srnm01 4d
If you are in the west, Sunway Medical is an alt to Prince Court
edgaras 4d
Ratings seem bad ;/
ccooper 4d
I used Sunway Velocity Medical, would recommend, but cannot compare to the others
ccooper 4d
I got stuck in the lift several times there, apartment was ok. Definitely nicer apartments around tho
You've been in malaysia but i've been in malavita
jayysd 4d
Any good co working spaces here?
jayysd 4d
