Hi gents, I’m planning to spend a couple of months in KL. Which part of the city would you say is best to stay in? I’m not bothered about nightlife just looking for somewhere decent, not rough, and fairly close to the main spots.

I stayed for 6 weeks this September-October in Bukit Bintang at Robertson Residences complex. It was definitely decent, and quite central. I think most of these two buildings are short term rentals, there are hundreds of units in 2 towers. Booked through Airbnb a couple of months in advance, paid around €1.7k/month. If I’m back to KL next year, I’ll be trying to stay in the same spot.

I used to stay here around 6 months / year for 10 years roughly. Currently more often in KL. But I’m here til end of Dec. There’s a Penang nomad and expat group. Although I’m not really active in that as I hangout more with my local friends here. Some coworking spaces also have a bit of community here.

Yeah the thing is they state 2-7 days processing time but that's obviously not the case, so I wanted to see if I can pay some visa agent extra and get it processed faster

This is not as weird as it sounds in SEA.

For example, in Vietnam somehow the official tourist visa channel is slower, you can find people who promise to fast track it for you on Upwork: I thought this has got to be a scam. Sure enough, INSTANT approval haha. The whole world just doesn’t work the way us strict westerners expect it to.

I liked it, stayed at Robertson Towers. The only downside was that it wasn’t very walkable, in a sense that you’ll need to take some long detours to cross the highway, walk around large police station, abandoned construction projects etc. But I got an impression that it’s true for most of KL. I’ll be back to KL in April, and plan to stay either at the same place, or Brickfields (little India - I liked restaurants there, and it seemed better for public transit).

Oh Brickfields! is an Indian Area, i suggest you to visit Bamboo hills KL. You will enjoy the place there. Unfortunately im not there but if you need any information let me know
