Hi! How do people cope with working in the US timezone? (Sometimes i work in EU time so that's still manageable)
Wondering if there's any coworking space in Taipei that's 24 hr and DO have people working in the evening time?? I remember it vaguely that they usually closes at 6pm or even if it does open it's really empty....

I recall The Hive having 24 hour access... can't comment on working in US timezones though, it sounds pretty tough from over here.

Yeah i know most has 24h access if becoming a monthly member. Just wondering if there are some places known to have overnight workers 😅. In some of the digital nomad hubs it was rather a relief to be able to find fellow midnight fighters

I would hesitate to describe Taipei as any sort of hub... it's always felt like an introvert's paradise to me, a good place to hunker down and get some work done without all the sociality of BKK/CM/Bali/other E/SE hotspots.

Sure would like to find out if there's anyplace with more of a buzz at night... I'm usually just in some late night cafe somewhere, not exactly blending in with the student crowd hehe

ye i've been nomadding around for 5 yrs in and out of taipei ( im local). i havent found any late night coworking spaces with ppl working US hrs (overnight)

Depends what you're looking for. I think it's great but it's not for everyone.

Pros: safe, convenient, modern, fast internet, excellent public transportation, bikeable
Cons: accommodation is typically bad and not good value, not much of a nomad scene, oppressive humidity for a good chunk of the year

SEA is attractive to many nomads in part because of economic arbitrage that isn't nearly so easy here... and there's nothing like the well developed Western-oriented tourist infrastructure you can piggyback on

Agree but maybe not on "bad accommodation" bit. I think there is a lot of nice, modern accommodation available above 35k NTD

Well, maybe. But that's still pricey compared to SEA and pretty low value a lot of the time, especially for short term, non-Mandarin speaking setups.

Outside Taipei and off Airbnb is a different matter... but in any case it ain't like rolling up to Chiang Mai or something

I paid 260 USD a month for a place in Changhua City once upon a time... and I learned a lot, but some of that experience was pretty much like one of those meditation retreats where you don't talk to anyone for a long period of time 😳

yeah that's for sure. It isn't nomad friendly at all I agree. Most of best experiences in Taiwan are, "if you know, you know" basis. You need Mandarin or have a helpful friend here, imo.

I still think it's cool for curious people, public transit fans, introverts, anyone more focused on shipping than partying and surfing or whatever... there's plenty to like about this country (which is why it's home base for me).

It's home for me too, and I wouldn't want to be anywhere else. But I can also imagine myself coming here when I was in my early 20s as a nomad and being bored out of my wits. 😂 Compared to Thailand, Bali or even Japan

Heya all, I’ll be calling Taipei my home for some weeks, possibly for more.
