Hi everyone! I’m in Bukhara and I’m stuck without cash. ATMs currently don’t work with VISA & Mastercard, according to the tourist police there’s a recent problem & they don’t know when it will resolve. I’ve seen some other tourists ATM-jumping like me. When I go to banks I find on Western Union’s application listed as partners they say they don’t do WU.

What are my options here? I don’t wanna use crypto because a local told me some things that scared me off from that a bit. Does anyone know a bank that does WU in Bukhara? Or any ATM that works? I’m gonna end up stuck here at this rate. 😅

I was there for a month and frequently had issues getting cash. Some atms do work with foreign cards. Hamkor Bank for example

I resolved it by doing WU to a bank employee. Because as a foreign citizen I can’t receive WU transfers here without registering with the government. It’s surprising how a place like this is so magical and so tourist un-friendly at the same time. My friend told me to bring gold coins next time lol. 😅
