But you can also declare just some of it. The question here is do you have a way of legalizing the other part that you didn't declare ๐Ÿ˜
boris_k 2mo
Don't try to find logic in the actions of the government of any country ๐Ÿ˜‚ . They often do irrational things. The good thing about the Georgian government is that they sometimes back down when they understand they did something wrong. But this case is specifically related to foreigners, so it's hard to say what's gonna happen. I mean, locals are not going to protest against this for us ๐Ÿ˜‚ (even though it will indirectly affect them as well).
hugohb 2mo
I'd prefer declaring nothing (as it is apparently my right) rather than falsely declaring less. I don't know if it's true, but the latter feels more wrong, and potentially not allowed.
boris_k 2mo
You can always claim that the other part of your income has been received by you as a physical person in a different jurisdiction. Nothing wrong with that. But then there is a question of where you are actually able to operate as a physical person.
plakkies 2mo
Good point.
plakkies 2mo
Yea many of us need to prove to our original countries that we do pay taxes elsewhere before they lay claim on it with interest.

And also if you're planning on buying something big or having larger more "corporate" clients its always good to show your plugged into the system and follow due process.

1% is absolute pleasure each month to wire to treasury. I spent more on rent and borjomi. Its a "Look and be Legit" fee more then a "tax" ๐Ÿ˜‹

If your running higer numbers there are many other countries happy to open doors for you and maket access with decent taxes.

any european moved their freelancing activity in georgia? would like to have a chat ๐Ÿ™‚
Hi. Anything interesting happen in Tbilisi tomorrow?
dubaidoll 1mo
Hi ๐Ÿ™‚ Is there anyone in Kazbegi, Gudauri, Stepandmina now and this week?
roromaniv 1mo
Yo! Arriving in Tbilisi next week for a couple months ๐Ÿซฅ

Would you recommend any events organised by the community or local coworkings to meet new people?
Is the city is friendly to expats in general? Would love to hear your experiences
eyobest 1mo
There is daily event (Expat meetup/lang exchange) posted at here.

Hey everyone! Was thinking to come to Tbilisi for November, is that a good time?

Can anyone recommend any Colivingโ€™s or good accommodations to be around digital nomads?

Thank you very much in advance ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป
boris_k 1mo
All months are good enough for visiting Tbilisi, except maybe July and August (way too hot). November can be somewhat cold (depending on what's cold for you), but much less crowded, plus the autumn foliage is at its peak, so I don't see why not.
november is like the worst month on the calendar, not snowy yet in mountains, not warm enough to be outside most of the time
but still better than in many other places ๐Ÿ˜Š
boris_k 1mo
Not snowy => you can still go hiking ๐Ÿ˜ But the question was about Tbilisi.
Thanks everyone! I think Iโ€™ll give Tbilisi for a month in November a go!! Thanks a lot ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป if anyone knows good accommodation options, Iโ€™d really appreciate any tips
Hi there! Any freelancers under the IE+SB regime? I'd like to know how are you getting paid in your georgian accounts from international clients. I know wise but I personally need to also be able to take card payments and paypal doesn't sound like the best idea for several reasons.
I know there are many other payment processors here but many of them require you to be a business instead of IE for what I heard
boris_k 1mo
There's Keepz which is easy to register but it won't work for subscriptions. Also maybe try Payze. BoG and TBC have their own payment gateway services offered but they almost always refuse to offer that to foreigners with IE, as far as I heard.
Wow, I had no idea about Keepz, Iโ€™m checking it out and it seems exactly like what I need. Thank you!

Planning on going to Georgia next week. Will be mostly spending time in Tbilisi. Any recommendation for esims?

Looking at cellfie.ge not sure how reliable though. Need something that would work well in Tbilisi, airport, kazbegi, kakheti
rishabhp 1mo
Was planning on getting the eSIM before landing so that itโ€™s all smooth (booking cabs, if anything needed in immigration, etc. )
boris_k 1mo
Celfie is the worst, get Magti
rishabhp 1mo
Unable to figure out how to get eSIM on magti website
boris_k 1mo
Just get it at the airport, there is a kiosk there
rishabhp 1mo
Cool got it. Any chances if I need internet at immigration they have decent open WiFi?
boris_k 1mo
Yeah, there is wifi
boris_k 1mo
I heard it's more expensive there, though, than in the city :/

Hey guys,

Iโ€™m arriving today to Tbilisi. So far Iโ€™m planning to spend one month there. Would like to meet other nomads/entrepreneurs in the area. If anyone is up for a hike, coffee or coworking sessions, letโ€™s connect!
rishabhp 29d
Any idea what kind of difference in the price

Just arrived today in Tbilisi. Staying in old Tbilisi. Not sure if I like the hospitality. In some places they didnโ€™t even bother to talk just said โ€œno Englishโ€
boris_k 25d

valkmit 25d
I'm not sure he even asked a question though, the response didn't make sense
valkmit 25d
Seemed to just be a comment on the perceived lack of hospitality?
boris_k 25d
Which depends on the nationality ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ
valkmit 25d
sucks if that's true, probably stems from lack of understanding
boris_k 25d
Nah, not in this case. It's primarily due to increased migration from there in recent years. But not only that, yeah..
valkmit 25d
Iโ€™m probably not alone in this group in thinking people who believe that have a pretty silly world perspective, given that weโ€™re all in a group of people traveling around the world lol
valkmit 25d
Any person who is a digital nomad is probably on average net beneficial for any economy they travel to - thatโ€™s foreign income being injected directly into a local economy, probably one of the most OP forms of investment a country can ask for
valkmit 25d
But I guess weโ€™re all biased also since weโ€™re all DNs lol
valkmit 25d
I wouldnโ€™t feel too bad if above scenario is true, similar stuff has happened to me in San Juan (one of the only places Americans can go to for big tax breaks) some of the locals are not huge fans but they tend to be people who were left behind economically or dealt a bad hand in life. By and large most are really nice and Iโ€™m sure Georgia is the same
valkmit 25d
Former colleagues of mine have had good things to say
boris_k 25d
The world hasn't figured it out yet. Plus, it's not written on your face that you're a digital nomad. Some people will always judge by appearance/origin/nationality. I doubt this will ever change.
valkmit 25d
Guy can dream ๐Ÿฅฒ

Hii, what's in your opinion the best place to try Khachapuri in Tbilisi which is also not a tourist trap but more a local restaurant?
Not sure if counts as a local restaurant, but craft wine restaurant is fantastic
https://maps.app.goo.gl/R2n8fQNXvRmFJrmX8?g_st=ipc

I like it here
sergiors 25d
It depends, there are different regional types of khachapuri. Coming from abroad, you're probably thinking of Adjarian khachapuri. Naturally, the best place would be in Adjaria, but in Tbilisi, try Bread & Wine. Lovely place overall. For a more budget relaxed option, you can try Lagidze water in Vake.
eyobest 24d
Am down to meet up. Hit me up.
Btw there are lots of expat events happening daily in La Mano or Niema bar btw
I'm down.

I'd buy seasonal produce in Dezerter bazaar and cook your own food.
I have other plans currently, but definitely would consider Tbilisi for long term, friendly people, good food, interesting artistic scene and a short flight away from Europe and Turkey
rishabhp 16d
Yeah seems like cook your own food is the only budget friendly way
the bakeries that sell lobiani, etc (stuffed bread) also sell dishes by weight (salads, meats, beans, etc) and I think they are the most affordable option for buying prepared food, and it's also very delicious
jmibl 15d
To add, stores with prepared food are a bit hard to find on google, maybe called "family kitchen" (someone else might have a good Georgian search term). You can often eat there too.

Some examples are Tartan in Vera, Degusto has several outlets, big supermarkets like Agrohub in Vake have it too (and Carrefour too?). Marjanishvilli has quite a few options like Imerlebi.

Not generally a good option for buying in the evening, but in Marjanishvilli I think they have food later.
jmibl 15d
Not sure if you can order delivery on bolt / wolt ๐Ÿค”
yes, here in Marjanishvili thereโ€™s Buon Appetito which is actually 24/7, obviously with better options during the day but still quite decent at night
plakkies 15d
Yea I was living off this prepared food for 4 months.
There are few places in each apartment block community area.

Eventually you become part of regulars very nice people running those family kitchens and its food cooked by local people not factories.

I am now in the Buckwheat phase, gluten free, super cheap and healthy!
Hey guys! What do you think about doing another meetup this Sunday? I suggest 11:30am at coffee lab lisi lake. Itโ€™s a nice cafe, that also offers food and the lake is pretty

As an idea, it's Tbilisoba this weekend. Not sure exactly what's on, but I think it's focused around Orbeliani Square and Rike Park.

Hi guys. Any one has clear information on the temporary residence permit fot IT individuals as per the new law? Has anyone tried to apply to it, and if so, whats the process?
I never heard such thing. Can you tell me more about it? Hahaha
Iโ€™ll be wandering around Tbilisoba this weekend, I was there for it on 2023 and it was such a nice whole city festival. Iโ€™m trying to find information about the Open Air museum that in previous years has hosted more traditional/folk activities and presentations.
I havenโ€™t applied, but seeing some information on the topic in relevant chats. Translated from RU:

๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‘จ๐Ÿปโ€๐Ÿ’ป As of September 1st, Georgia introduced a new type of residence permitโ€”IT residence permitโ€”and the process of submitting documents for its consideration.
As a reminder, this type of residence permit will be issued for up to three years, but will be terminated if the holder is not actually present in the country for 183 days out of 12 months. In addition to IT workers themselves, temporary residence permits will also be granted to their family members.

โ„น๏ธ The first applicants have already submitted their documents, so a number of clarifications have been issued. Foreign specialists will be required to provide the following list of documents and complete the following steps:
โ–ช๏ธYou must confirm each place of employment for the past 2-3 years (if you have more than one place of employment). The last one is not sufficient.
โ–ช๏ธA contract stating your salary. The document must clearly indicate that the employee is an IT specialist and has the qualifications and experience (for example, an accountant at an IT company cannot apply for this type of residence permit).
โ–ช๏ธIf the contract does not specify a salary, a company certificate, certified with a seal and signature, is required, stating the employee's income and stating that the employee is an IT specialist.
โ–ช๏ธContracts and certificates must be apostilled; an electronic signature is not accepted.
โ–ช๏ธBank statements showing income are not sufficient. Detailed explanations of the source of income must be provided.

โ—๏ธ Most applicants who have applied for an IT residence permit have had their applications suspended due to the above reasons.

โžก๏ธApplication review:
- Regular, 3 months and costs 500 GEL
- Urgent, 2 months and costs 700 GEL

Thank y farid!! ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ Need to look into how and where to apply.

Have things changed for people doing individual entrepreneur + 365 day / tourist visa?
sawsan 12d
So i also checked with expat hub and was told that this will be effective by March.
not sure Jamie, Iโ€™m still 100% in tourist mode ๐Ÿ˜
of 2026 I assumeโ€ฆregardless, might help find a local legal pro to help navigate this, I couldnโ€™t find any relevant info on official sources (e.g. gov.ge), only interpretations from 3rd party news, consulting agencies, etc
7rulnik 12d
well there is a summary of changes and some way to solve it
It's in russian lang, but feel free to ask if there is somehting that not clear via translation
https://manageripgeorgia.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/FAQ/pages/1199276038/2025+2026
boris_k 12d
So far, it looks like you'd also need work permission in this case. For which there is zero info on the process and the requirements as of now ๐Ÿ˜‘
boris_k 12d
If you register an individual entrepreneur entity this year, it looks like an easier path to get a residence permit. For the standard "work residence permit" you just need a 50K GEL/year income proof in Georgia, and that's all.
Comments regarding the new IT-residence permit have been very bad, no one has been able to get it so far.
I just created the meetup. Feel free to join if youโ€™re free on Sunday: https://nomads.com/meetups#9772e73c6bb8f4413427ab844f884c94
