So a good number of my acquaintances and some friends are all in japan this week lol. Which was surprising as i wasnt following news.
So are you guys really seeing that much purchasing power parity there? Or are places like restaurants and hotels jacking up their rates to what would be traditionally equivalent to usd rates.

First time flying to Japan this week. I have a single inbound flight, wanted to leave return date open ended. Will this be an issue with immigration when landing? Do I need to show an outbound flight? US Passport.

Where are you flying in from because US airlines wouldve required a future return or a flight to another country before you can go if it was a requirement.

If you are unsure of your return or continuing flight then book a fully refundable flight journey to say korea or hong kong or somewhere and then when you are done immigration just cancel the flight. Ideally use AA or United or something more reliable so that it will be easier to cancel.

I spent like $5k in hotel rooms over 2 months this spring. I guess last year the same trip would have cost $6-7k in hotels but either way it’s not “cheap”

I don't know about the best esim available but I installed one via Airlao before arriving and it worked fine as soon as I switched it on. Data has been solid. Havn't tried using a hotspot yet. Let us know how you get on with whichever on you choose, out of curiousit

The train is mostly disabled friendly but depends what station she gets out at. I think you can check that online.

If you book via Booking.com you can currently very often get free airport taxi, had that included in all my offers when I booked yesterday.

Might be cheaper to rent a car and drive yourself. Toyota rent a car do packages for just a few hours and you can drop her then take the train back

Yes I did. It's a pretty small resort but very convenient, especially a weekday daytime. Kagura is better in that region.

well the best mountains are in hokkaido apparently, but from Tokyo probably the best spots are in Gunma
