Question, how many nomad solopreneurs are actively building a new solution/product and struggling to find the right resources? Or maybe it’s easy to find but hard to get aligned to the vision?

Not a plug, but I’ll looking at maybe setting up some on-going meetups for us tortured visionaries to talk shop and help each other get stuff done or just not feel isolated on all fronts (work and life). Would this be helpful or needed? Happy to lead it if it’s of value

I feel too late to build my idea. I had an idea of a no-code platform 5 years ago. I didn't get to it since I was not knowledgeable enough about mental health ups and downs during the process. Now I think I know well. But AI is taking over everything and there are many no-code platforms already in the market.

Anyone else from here into AI audit trails and compliance? Basically proving why AI took a decision and who as a person signed it off. That will be a big deal starting with August 2nd when EU AI Act comes into force. Just curious if anyone else from here sees it coming.

I am assuming it is already there in the agentic workflow by design (why the AI took a certain path). It would just be noise for humans to read.

if your org has its custom workflows and setups built on top of agents, then: ask the agentic system to build its own monitoring and tracing system
It can pull out the report when requested

That's correct, question is if that will satisfy the auditors in a format they request, and will they trust reconstructed evidence instead of ongoing tamper-proof 3rd-party objective trail?

Thats where the regulations might come in and will plugin a lobbied service provider which does the auditing and is responsible for trails?
I am just thinking out loud. Is it similar to how big companies get audited by deloitte/pwc/kpmg etc?

So god-led entrepreneurs would be extremely formidable I guess.

To quote Paul's essay on this (How to convince investors): "A formidable person is one who seems like they'll get what they want, regardless of whatever obstacles are in the way. Formidable is close to confident, except that someone could be confident and mistaken. Formidable is roughly justifiably confident."
Conviction helps, but conviction doesn't necessarily translate into successful execution.

I soft-rejected a great role in Growth from an a16z startup recently because I’m pouring into my startup Animus fulltime. I saw something the other day, since then I think the way to the confidence he mentions there is to just have moderate optimism. Too much optimism and pessimism will keep you exactly where you are, frozen and immobile. Changed my outlook on a lot of things that show up along the way, obstacles or not.

For now it’s a web app that connects to everyone favorite tools and extracts traces, then we did some NLP R&D there (I dropped out of Linguistics to pursue ML & my cofounder’s a Computational Linguist) and we connect it to the company-wide used LLM to power undecided cases without everyone asking the founders or team leads a zillion questions every day. I’m pressure testing it for compliance rn, I’m a data activist so I know some regulations by heart. The MVP isn’t out yet because we hit a paywall before we get to pilots, and we’re estimating costs while talking to angels within our network.

We’re working on the compliance side before pilots, the paywall is that we haven’t received any funding yet as the idea dawned on us mid July and now we need AI & cloud credits to power the pilots. Also, we’re trying to keep our commitment fulltime and hire a founding engineer to ensure consistent quality so we can convert & expand faster. Because even though we gave strong team no one here is a fullstack dev. 😅

That’s the least of the problems btw but we wanna launch and start pilots as soon as credits & compliance checks are cleared. There’s a catch about the compliance side:
- The pilots will start in Türkiye, so product must comply with KVKK standards.
- Good part is; I know parts of the regulation from heart as I’m a data activist and we’ve been building this solution as privacy-first as it gets from day 1. I also volunteered alongside some lawyers on this subject and made connections I’m planning to activate to audit our approach.

As we’re waiting to hear back from some angels in our network, we keep building towards the launch. We try to keep the initial product as simple as possible as user interviews already killed 2 features we were planning to implement.

If we don’t get an offer we like from angels we’ll keep bootstrapping our efforts well into the pilots and considering using the initial version of our product to launch an AI-native service campaign for management consulting specifically for companies with bottlenecks for bus-factor.

Yes, I have been thinking only about this for the past several weeks. The idea came from a personal pain, that might be why. This June I learned I had MS when I woke up semi paralyzed one day and lost all my freelance clients. After initial treatment I’m fully healed from my paralysis but my business needed this back then, I could’ve handed over my clients to a friend from my field for a couple of months…

For the AI & cloud credits, I worked at a VC-backed startup in AI and we were able to get $100K in Google cloud credits to use for cloud and AI models, you can also get similar things from AWS & Azure.

Bootstrapped can get much lower credits, for example I was able to get a client $1K at AWS and can apply again to get up to $5K, I also applied to Cloudflare for some infra stuff and got them $10K for 1 year.

As a start you can apply as bootstrapped and move from there.

We’re not VC backed yet so AWS is out of reach but I signed up for Microsoft for Startups. Most startup programs request a VC referral and I’ve evaluated around 11.

As for Microsoft, it’s nice to work with Azure but the models they’re offering when bootstrapped kinda shook me. Still, we’re not a GPT wrapper so we can work with those. 😅

Honestly, I like these credits because of the LLMs they provide, I like to use Cloudflare as cloud infra.

You can apply to AWS as bootstrapped, I went into the process and got accepted! as well to Azure and GCP I guess.

Know that GCP only gives you Gemini models, but AWS gives you a wider range like Anthropic models and more.

If you face any issues or need help feel to ask (not selling anything, just glad to help since I've been there too 🙂)

This is a hack I sometimes do, might be useful to someone

If you have many AI credits from multiple places, and maybe you bought directly as API from a provider, you can use openrouter and use the BYOK service, and put all these API keys there, then user openrouter to use all the APIs you have without needing to make your platform linked only to AWS or GCP or Azure or a single provider 😉
But they might take 5% at some threshold

have you thought about just pushing an mvp to the potential uses you've chatted with thus far? don't think compliance is a massive issue early on... they are trusting you. also, you can get a few thousand in credits from gcp/aws by just saying you're a startup. that should get you going..

Yes, they’re mostly personal connections. But the product touches to many data points by nature so we want to make it as compliant as we can before we make it self-service. However, we’ll likely start offering daily AI-native consultancy services soon (maybe even tomorrow) using Animus before waiting for it to become ready to launch to cover our costs and launch with a stronger marketing strategy.

Credits are mostly handed more freely to VC-backed startups but we’ll check again for aws.
