Thereโ€™s also a 180 day single entry or multi entry visa
fruntxas 2mo
Got it ๐Ÿ˜Ž
fruntxas 2mo
Was looking into 500 +150 IDR.
But can't find these values online, so I'll just do at the airport
menace 2mo
If you intend to extend, absolutely do the e-visa. The extension process is three times as difficult for a Visa on arrival. Just go to the official website for the Visa.
menace 2mo
The Official eVisa website for Indonesia https://share.google/nIgSEFlXo46RZgGUF
fruntxas 2mo
I saw this one but....
fruntxas 2mo
All I can find is Australian ๐Ÿ˜…
fruntxas 2mo
Oh I see the mistake now.
It's the 1st option (General)
kristof 2mo
Definitely not fake news lol
Can confirm itโ€™s one of the wildest in history
According to locals that have been here a long time. I was riding the scooter pretty much all day from 4p to 2-3a and didnโ€™t think much of it then the sounds of the storm at 4-6a
fruntxas 2mo
So....how bad is it exactly?
Is is mainly DPS or...?
brendanb 2mo
Itโ€™s fine now, but whole highway tunnels were flooded and at least one building fell. It hasnโ€™t rained today, so it should be ok from here on
hi everyone, im geetting my e33g kitas, which bank do you suggest? i was checking bca bc is big or digibank by DBS bc seems more like digital like revolut

Canโ€™t wait for tomorrowโ€™s meetup, see you guys there https://nomads.com/meetups#3ddfe4e883e278129a669ac85d5b7534
sossho 2mo
You could Try neobanks like juuli, those are specific to nomads
haarolean 2mo
All of them are meh kinda. No apple/google pay whatsoever, multi currency accs are a joke mostly. OCBC is kinda stable rn IIRC but requires 50mil deposit ish
sullivan 2mo
For the meetup Iโ€™m there in 2min, with a friend, white face, white t-shirt
sullivan 2mo
where are you guys ? :D
shivdee 2mo
Hey guys just joined this community and found out about this meetup lol
shivdee 2mo
You guys planning to be there for a while? I can reach in like 20-25 min I think
victorgk 2mo
Hey !

arriving soon to Bali, need real field tips (place + price + contact).

Fast answers on:

โ€ข Best card for ATM withdrawals (Wise / Revolut / local bank)? Which ATM to use (BCA / Mandiri / BNI)?

โ€ข eSIM vs physical SIM โ€” which provider for best island coverage (Telkomsel recommended?) and which reseller (Airalo / Holafly / Saily)?

โ€ข SIM-C: any reliable agents who arranged it quickly (price / process)? Need to be present?

โ€ข Scooter rental: recommended shops, do they check license, do they provide helmets & insurance?

I only have French 125cc training (not A1/A2). If youโ€™ve done it anyway, share how.

Thanks! ๐Ÿ™
zubair 2mo
Anyone on Lombok?
anomad 2mo
what I disliked about bali is that I found myself always needing to take transportation to just go anywhere
anomad 2mo
i only remember perenan as a place where I could walk, but even to get there I had to take a grab
anomad 2mo
i haven't seen uluwatu and nusa because i got sick when i was there
anomad 2mo
but yeah basically I had three issues:
- no way to eat good groceries without paying US prices (higher than my budget as italian)
- the water. next time i will use bottled water to even wash myself, cause I was getting sick multiple times
- the fact that (while staying in seminyak) I always needed to take a grab to go everywhere. and that can be OK. but when I get to a place, the fact that EVEN THERE I have to get grab to go in the areas of that same place, left me with a bad memory about this
anomad 2mo
if I had a motorbike or car to drive, it would have been different, but then I have to basically risk having an accident without being insured and/or just driving illegally. and my gf couldn't drive anyway in that kind of chaotic driving
anomad 2mo
so, have you any kind of tip for the next time? maybe I missed out on something?
anomad 2mo
also, the vibe felt fakish and off a bit, compared to phuket. more than a couple times it seemed to me I was on instagram, not real life, lol.
Yeah. I couldn't imagine my life without driving. Makes a huge difference
kristof 2mo
- Wise / Revolut all fine, any atm fine except I think commonwealth charges
- Telkomsel physical or local esim
- Can get local license yes, but don't have a contact
- Basically no rental shop asks for license ever. They provide helmets yes, insurance almost never
fruntxas 2mo
Wise does have wider acceptance apparently
fruntxas 2mo
I'd suggest getting Wise and putting up Curve below
fruntxas 2mo
If you stick to road rules and wear a helmet it's unlikely to be asked for a license really.

Either way keep only a 800k-1M IDR in hand just in case they want the bribe
victorgk 1mo
Thank you aiwueomhkao and vphfwfaf for tips ๐Ÿ™‚ great to know all these things :p
kristof 1mo
Waaaay less than 800k dude. Last time I "paid a local style fine" I gave 38k
fruntxas 1mo
โ‚ฌ2...
Must have been an hungry cop
kristof 1mo
Few years ago though so def gone up, but for you sure don't need to pay a mil
kristof 1mo
Done that like prob 10 times never paid more than 50
fruntxas 1mo
Different experiences I guess.
Already had to help a friend who was trying to give 500k.
He was going to be pulled to the station
I paid 500k for myself and my passenger not wearing a helmet a few months ago in Ubud. 38k sounds extremely cheap
This one time my friend in the back of the scooter wasnโ€™t wearing a helmet and I had to pay 100k once for him. It was friendly and the guy even waited for me to hit an ATM across town cuz the others were all drained ๐Ÿคฃ
Just kinda depends what kinda cops will pull you overโ€ฆI believe itโ€™s 250k per person but I could be wrong
fawwaz 1mo
Any long term peeps here?
Hey all ๐Ÿ‘‹, Iโ€™ve been living in Bali now for a few years. I wanted to check if there is any other people in the group that are living in Bali long-term and if they may want to meet up.
Hi , anyone know Exchange office or Agent China Alipay to IND
Anyone do business with China ?
sullivan 1mo
Heya, whoโ€™s in Uluwatu this month ?
kristof 1mo
Helmet is more expensive. If you don't wear a helmet you deserve a bigger "fine" haha
zubair 1mo
Anyone in Seminyak Wana explore Amed together?
adrinomad 1mo
Hey, iโ€™m in Bali and I was thinking on doing a two weeks remote work focus mode sprint here. Any recommendations for a city to stay some time and have some infrastructure and some bars, cafes, spa, etc and the least tourist traps. I was thinking between amed, canggu or Ubud. What is the โ€œvibeโ€ on these cities?
adrinomad 1mo
Also, do you know any place to rent a scooter to move around the island?
shivdee 1mo
I rented mine from Guru Bikes, Canguu. Pretty good experience
adrinomad 1mo
Great thanks! Do you need to return it in the same place?
shivdee 1mo
They'll charge 100-200k if you drop it outside Canguu. I dropped it near the airport which was 100k

200k for Ubud/Uluwatu
adrinomad 1mo
Great! Thanks
melunia 1mo
I liked ubud the most. Uluwatu and canggu were too crowded causing heavy traffic.. but itโ€™s known for its nomad scene. never been to Amed but itโ€™s the least popular, you might find more opportunities to focus there.
hugohb 30d
Hey peeps, just arrived in Ubud and looking to meet people :) Any meetup or impromptu gathering happening these days?
hugohb 30d
Just spent a whole month in Amed, I can't believe it's the least popular. I had an absolute blast there! Life is just so chill and nice, and the community quite tight knit.
samuba 29d
Any recommended place for doing bloodwork? Don't want to spend too much on the health clubs
mirptsirp 28d
Hey Hugo (and rest of the crowd). Just arrived here in Ubud as well. I will be staying here for quite some time to settle down with the gypsy lifestyle ๐Ÿ˜„ At least for the rest of the year, maybe more.

Would be happy to meet up with you, and anyone for that matter. I dmโ€™d :)
brendanb 26d
Iโ€™m going to be in Amed for the next 2 weeks if anyoneโ€™s in town. Probably going to be working from La Timba most days so hit me up! ๐Ÿค™
Where's the best place to go in Bali nowadays? Stayed in canggu in 2018 but heard it's very different now
danjoe4 25d
Same question. Sentiment seems to be that canggu is congested and icky. Or should I stop overthinking it and just go to Bwork and get the hotel nextdoor
brendanb 25d
What are you looking for? If you want to be around a bunch of gym bros and party every night then Canggu is pretty good still. Just donโ€™t stay in berawa bc the shortcut is horrible
danjoe4 25d
I'm trying to get actual work done. Ideally combined or at least adjacent hotel + cowork. I don't need a big room. I like coliving type spaces as long as they have a quiet dedicated work area. Proximity to a nice beach is a plus.
brendanb 25d
BWork is opening a new spot in Uluwatu I think this month. The beach is way better in Uluwatu although thereโ€™s less of a DN community imo
danjoe4 25d
Yeah Canggu beach looked bad. Uluwata hub looked promising but accommodations nearby are expensive or fully booked. Colabo looks cool but their website is down and no one picks up the phone which is a bad sign and apparently they're not 24/7.

I'll go Bwork for my first week in Bali.
brendanb 25d
I just spent a month at Bwork. Itโ€™s ok. Probably the best coworking in Canggu now that Outpost and Dojo have closed. The wifi is a bit slow sometimes though. But itโ€™s still a good place to work.
I'm at Bwork almost everyday. Canggu is still home for me. Depends on what you like. For me, it's still the clear winner
Hi, is someone in Sanur, Bali?
marczrh 19d
Any tips for CoLiving or Villa sharing? I am going to be there from November for the first time. I am thinking about Ubud or Ulutwatu
uluwatu / the bukit - i've lived here for 2 years
rogosak 17d
Hey guys, first time coming to Bali, not sure what to expect been to many other Asian places.

How is it with the mosquitos and the open air villas?

Seems like not the most pleasant way to work at night?

Or do you rather recommend these for just a honeymoon?
Sitting in the heat, sweating whilst trying to be productive is the worst!
I don't know how ya'll do it
anthonyv 16d
Hello guys! Coming to Bali for about a month and a half, starting 1st of November, i'm looking for a room in a villa, do you guys have something ? i'm a 29y old male, french, and recent Nomad digital working in marketing and community business. That will be awesome to meet you ๐Ÿ™‚ All the best! Anthony
haarolean 15d
Depends on the place, like mosquitos exist in Ubud but itโ€™s more chill in canggu, for example. Humidity would be a bigger issue mostly
anthonyv 15d
Thank you
Guys Iโ€™ll be back in Canggu in January for the second time since 2018. Any recommendations where to stay? If u a have a room in a villa or know a good guesthouse would love recommendations. Aprox budget 600 usd
Hey guys - iโ€™m currently in Bangkok and from Australia and thinking about coming to Bali in the next week.

Iโ€™m currently on the lookout for a video editor so would love to come meet you if youโ€™re there.

Iโ€™ve also got my own software business and would love to hang out with other entrepreneurs โœŒ๏ธ
kristof 9d
Any specific area
i'll be around Canggu
Hey, is Canggu good for a person that doesnโ€™t like to party? More into healthy life, work, coffee. Or better Ubud? I will be some time in the island starting in Seminyak today.

Iโ€™m running a SaaS ~$23k, so happy to meet other SaaS founders.
kristof 8d
Yes, you can do whatever you want there. There's just as many gyms as there are clubs
SaaS founder here also. Would be great to connect
if anyone around Canggu wants to cowork together sometime this week or go for a run lmk!
Does anyone know if there any whatsapp groups or cool business related events in Bali in Nov-Dec? ๐Ÿ™‚
srg_b 3d
Does anyone have a contact of a taxi driver in Ubud that they can recommend? Need someone to pick us up from the airport. Thank you!
paul040 2d
Is there no uber in bali?
there is, itโ€™s called โ€œgrabโ€
axel 2d
Grab and Gojek exist.

Uber doesn't exist in SEA, they were bought out by Grab in 2018
Anyone know for sure whether you can get a Grab or Go-jek from the airport? My friend said she did it once but when I tried it it didn't work
yes you can - i got one literally a week ago
just be prepared to be absolutely hunted down by all the people pretending to be Grab drivers that are not and trying to get you to go with them
menace 1d
Just ignore all the people hounding you and go to the scrap pickup area. There's a little green hub area for grab pickups. The app will also give you directions to it
dashaa 1d
for me, Canggu beats Ubud when it comes to gyms, coffee, work, and a healthy lifestyle in general ๐ŸŒš
axel 1d
They're both great for different people. I lived in Ubud (and a local village 30 mins away) for 5 years. I like the calmness and more authenticity compared to Canggu.

But I am also not a spiritual yoga whatever. I sit in bars, drink beer and talk to my friends.

I always urge people to try both. Canggu can be intense and feel very artificial
