This took so long (3 weeks) that my visa expired in the meantime. Note that you can only apply for extension 15 or fewer days before expiration

To extend a normal tourist visa? You definitely don’t need an agent. Just go to the website and pay, as long as you have the payment receipt you’ll be ok. It’s Indonesia, not Australia 😂

General update on the eVOA extension. It took 5 days but I got mine extended. Did it myself through the same web portal where you apply for the eVOA.

Seems easy enough 🤷 (even though the site, payment portal and email you receive has a lot of bugs 😅)

I took an Agent for my Visa Extention now cause the earlierest i can apply would be the 24th and indonesia holiday starts from 29-7 april. So i only would have 5 days to get my visa. With the agent i have somebody who takes care that i can stay even i get my extention after 7 th April.

Quick question: Seems like most countries technically want proof of onward travel. And so far I've never had it nor been asked to provide it (Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia). I'm assuming the same is probably the case here? Or has anyone noticed them being strict about this at the airport?

Had some bad luck with co-living places. Can anyone recommended a co-living place in Canggu that is:
1. Clean and quite at this moment (no construction work at 5am)
2. Table and chair with fast internet in the bedroom
3. Reasonably priced, social vibe welcome

Update: Onward travel was not an issue at all.

Bonus tip for anyone new... That first desk you see when you land is just for paying for the VOA if you didn't pay already online. If you already paid online keep going down to the machine where you put your passport in. And then extra bonus tip is to read the signs properly... That next line you get in requires a new QR code for the items you're bringing into the country...

I didn't read the sign and had to do that line twice 🙃

I'm looking for the best spot in Canggu for a 25-year-old couple 👫—somewhere similar to Kata Beach in Phuket. It should be close to a nice beach but also offer some nightlife options, so that when we are not working we can go to the beach in the morning/afternoon and/or go out in the evening.

For example in kata beach there is the patong/karon/kata area to go around. Any suggestions? Are there areas with both (beach and fun/life/activities)? We are gonna stay there 2 or 3 months so we can also change area during the stay.

Outpost was quite good, they used to have good event managers. Tropical looks really cool but it’s on the shortcut so it’s annoying to get to. There’s also one in Pererenan with a pool that I liked. Not much of a community but very good vibes

Yeah for sure, I would go either close to Caravan in an area of Canggu called Berawa (nice beach and close to finns, morabito, vault, seminyak). Thats where I personally stay now at 1 min from the beach and I really like it

Or next to La Brisa but youll be further away from seminyak so location wise i think berawa is the most strategic

I've been trying to convert THB to IDR, and after visiting maybe 6 exchanges all over Ubud, the lowest spread (checking on XE.com) I got was like 20%. Despite a quite high amount, no one wanted to negotiate the rate. It's just ridiculous

I remembered why I never use exchanges. it was the first time I was forced to use one in like 15 years…

I recommend to spend your VND next time you're in Vietnam

Same experience as ujvqmrotpc I think physical money exchange is like the traditional taxi. Often overpriced, low quality and scam-prone. In every destination. Luckily, the former is being replaced by the fintechs like Wise and Revolut. The latter by e-hailing like Uber and Grab.
