Probably a studio in Marina or somewhere else popular. Wondering if anyone has gone down this route and can advise of any pitfalls.

Hey everyone! Quick question on residencies - I just recently got my residence and work visa, thinking to relocate to Dubai.

However, after 2 months there I had to leave due to an emergency and it looks like I won't be able to move back any time soon. The employer is aware and doesn't mind as I can do my work from anywhere.

However my question is - what happens to my visa and residency? Is it fine as long as I come back within 6 months? If so would there be issue if I leave again for prologned time.

Your visa will be canceled, so your employer will have to do some paperwork in order for you to come back, and you will practically have to get a new residency visa.

depending on where you are, it might be cheaper and easier to get a «visa run»- fligh in and flght out - and forget about the issue for another 6 month

Btw, is there anything you have to do when you enter the country to keep the residency? Or everything is documented automatically via smart gate?

You can just log him in whenever needed. Basically he types in your UAE pass email into login form and messages you the «number» and you approved login in the app.

Has anyone done a drivers license here in Dubai? My DL can not be transferred directly, so I need to to a "Signal Test" and a "Driving Assessment" in order to get the VAE license. Has anyone been trough this process?
