We've heard multiple times, that booking flights with VPNs can get you better prices. However often we try it, we could never prove to be true.
Anybody else with some insights?

i think this has likely worked at some point, but once VPN companies started advertising to retail customers that they can get them cheaper flights the airlines have caught up and made this harder

It’s a myth, the only thing I’ve seen in my lifetime was airlines offering tickets depending on which country the ticket was issued but I’m not even sure that happens anymore with the rise of the internet.

I am not sure if it is possible to get better prices but I would recommend to read about browser fingerprinting. Changing the IP is not really that effective anymore. There is a nice self test from EFF. Things like language settings, timezone, layout etc. probably still tell that you are not actually in the VPNs country.

I thinks if that was really the case and was a major practice by major airlines, there would have been a research and media backlash by now.
So most likely this might be only true for some small redional operators.

Or maybe it was always just a marketing myth by VPN providers, made up to sell their (4 out of 5 times unnecessary) service.
