What up crypto people. I'm not really deep in this world, but I've been lucky enough to buy some crypto at good times and I'm curious what's the most tax efficient way to sell? Not necessarily trying to be shady, but it just feels so wrong to pay a capital gains tax when I'm the one who took the risk 😭

It's not exactly a tax-free solution because the government can argue those were realized gains. Depends what country you're from, what exchange you used, how you acquired the coins, etc.

But from there on, once you have the money in your web3 wallet you can just say you bought something online and it's not your wallet anymore, so whatever trades you'll make from that there on is "invisible" to big brother (not really but sorta).

So, TLDR, as long as you are using an exchange with KYC, depending on the country (for example Canada auto reports stuff to the government 😒) there isn't much that you can do.

What I would suggest is keep it in stable coins on a web3 wallet, if you really need to bring it back into fiat after that you can always do a P2P exchange.

That is still taxable event.

Another question if govt agencies have an administrative capacity to track and investigate all hundreds and thousands of web3 transactions for millions of their tax residents.
Which is quite limited right now, having mostly CEX mandatory reporting as per MICA regulations. But that would broaden with automation over the following years.
