Cape Town insiders! whats the best way to find a reliable househelp for cooking/cleaning/ironing - ive posted on the facebook groups and get tons of answers but the problem is finding someone trustworthy and reliable
dawidvdh 3mo
Around Cape Town until Tuesday, let me know if anyone knows anything fun happening tonight or weekend
beyers 3mo
Mostly word of mouth and recommendations from a community. What area?
putmyname 3mo
First Thursdays are probably the best bet. Even locals just wait for that.

Hi everyone!

I will be in Cape Town in April.

I am wondering if you have any suggestions of the best safaris to do, what places to go to try local foods and other general must-see and do things in Cape Town.

I am also keen to learn more places to eat good food at affordable prices for the day-to-day and what places would be nice to see to the nightlife as I enjoy Afrobeats, amapiano, electronic music.

Thanks!
im in capetown from today till end of jan, who is around?
Is bolt good in Capetown?
People told that to even cross the road you need to book can in Capetown else you will get stabbed
leonardo 2mo
yes
boris_k 2mo
For some reason, people usually say that Uber is safer crime-wise (perhaps due to more strict driver verification). And, no, you don't get stabbed when you cross the road :) At daytime, the touristy areas in CT feel safer than many cities in South America.
beyers 2mo
Bolt was fine last time I used it. Usually a bit cheaper than Uber.

SAFARIS:
Near Cape Town (Day trips/Overnight):

Aquila Private Game Reserve
Inverdoorn - Located in the Karoo, about 2.5 hours from Cape Town
Buffelsfontein - On the R27 West Coast road

It is recommended to skip 1-day safaris near Cape Town and rather do a proper multi-day safari at Kruger or similar if you want the authentic Big 5 experience.

Hi Beyers, I hope you are doing well, I really appreciate the help!!
danielzal 2mo
Hi guys, I am staying as a tourist in Cape town for 2 weeks? Which 2 districts/areas to choose to stay at? for 1 week each? Seeking advice
beyers 2mo
Sea Point, De Waterkant or Greenpoint is a nice safe bet.
Bo Kaap has a more cultural and historical legacy.
Camps bay is close to the best beaches.
Bloubergstrand is further away but has the best Kite Surfing.
Muizenberg is towards the south and is very vibey with its own laid back surfer culture.
Noordhoek and Fish Hook are other side of the mountain and hard to get to but very scenic and natural.
Hout Bay is an honourable mention.
Any tips on colivings or places to stay? I've been disappointed by Airbnb too many times already :(
danielzal 2mo
Hey nomads, would you reccomend to go on the garden route if I am only for 2 days staying in cape town?
beyers 2mo
If your total stay is only two days then it is not worth going to the garden route. Rather just explore Cape Town and Table Mountain.
beyers 2mo
Dissapointed how?
There is so much more to do in cape town and surrounds. A trip to the Garden Route would mean you spend most of your time in the car. And it would take 2 days realisticly.
Check out Neighbourgood or Cape Coliving!

What are the best safariโ€™s next to cape town for 1 day drive? ๐ŸฆAquila? Buffelsfontein? Inverdoorn?
My fav is Addo National Park but it's a 8-9 hour drive from CT.
beyers 1mo
Yes, Addo is great and totally worth it.
The drive to it is very scenic and you get to see how the landscape changes.
Plus you can take a different route back to get a new experience.
beyers 1mo
The general feeling is that you should go for a proper safari experience rather than a watered down version close to CT
Hey guys! Arriving in Cape Town next weekend for 2 months! Anyone else around?

Hi,

If anyone is here, I'd love to do a group hike to Kloof corner and Nek to Kirstenbosch. ๐Ÿ™‚

Hey!

Iโ€™m planning to try out the digital nomad lifestyle in Cape Town and would love to stay there for a month in April. Iโ€™m looking to connect with other digital nomads while Iโ€™m there. Ideally, Iโ€™d love to find a place with a community vibe โ€” maybe a co-living or co-working space with like-minded people. I would be happy for any recommendation :))

You might be interested in Neighbourgood. They have a few locations

Hi,
Quick question: which telco provider have you had a good experience with?

Is anyone using an eSIM with unlimited data for work? If so, would you recommend it? Did you get your SIM card at the airport, or somewhere else? Iโ€™ll need unlimited data for work (and safety reasons), as Iโ€™d prefer not to rely too much on Wi-Fi. Iโ€™d really appreciate if you could share your experience. ๐Ÿ™
cmpjonah 10d
Local or eSIM
My eSIM was automatically connecting me to 3G so I manually changed it to Vodafone network and Iโ€™ve been getting 4G LTE all over SA since. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป
I got a Vodacom data bundle. 75gb. Was enough for me for a month at 4G speeds.
I bought vodacom 20gb (10gb day/10gb night)... and I recommend just using Nomad or Airalo. I smashed through the 10gb in a week, there was no way to see that, and the app doesn't work for esims, and its all just pain, not worth it
