yeah but it was more dry hot when I was there. I prefer it over asia humid hot.
I didn't go hiking in asuncion. I just saw the beauty from the bus, inside
Weird, I haven't had any issues sending to Saspy from Amazon, are you sending to their Miami address? We've got a few people in the West Coffee coworking group that use other forwarders, I'll ask for recommendations for you.
jrejaud 1mo
Yes, the miami one

What is the best district to stay in Asunciรณn for nomads?
I've lived in a number of neighborhoods and they all have been pretty great, with Bolt being just a couple dollars to get around it really depends on the experience you want to have.

I think most people would say near Shopping Del Sol.

I have lived in Santa Teresa/Mburucuya, Barrio Jara, Las Mercedes, Villa Morra, Los Laureles, Herrera, Recoletta, probably a few others.

Enjoyed them all for different reasons but if you want to be walking distance to a lot of things in the nicest areas probably Shopping Del Sol or Villa Morra are still going to be the top recommended areas.
Great! Thanks! See you guys soon there!
Good group joining tomorrow for Tuesday Coworking ๐Ÿš€

See everyone who's joining upstairs at West Coffee in a couple hours!

Reminder it's the one on Julio Correa in Santa Teresa near Shopping Del Sol (not by Shopping Mariscal)
Join us again for Tuesday Coworking fr West Coffee on Julio Correa

What are the nice buildings in Asuncion for Airbnb? The apartments all look pretty similar on the inside so just curious which buildings have the best location/fewest issues...
There's some nice buildings but it depends where you want to be and what your price point is etc.

We've found some nice places that are more unique, I do agree that some of them are very cookie cutter and not necessarily cozy like a lived in apartment.

You can also look outside Villa Morra and Shopping Del Sol area for what's available.

Las Mercedes, Barrio Jara, Los Laureles, Recoletta, Herrera and other areas I know some people like Luque as well
nthnjns 30d
Yeah I just need advice on the hood...
nthnjns 30d
They seem to cluster in the same area?
alexrod94 28d
Do you guys meet every Tuesday?
Every Tuesday from 1-6 pm for coworking

And then every other week the Asuncion Times has an after work event nearby
There's Airbnb's across the whole city but there's definitely a higher concentration in Villa Morra and Shopping Del Sol area
Las Lomas or Santa Teresa
Also depends on what you are filtering for....
I think it depends on the dates too, I'm usually booking for a month.

Some places may have a minimum number of days etc
alexrod94 28d
Will join you next time!
nthnjns 28d
I'm just coming for a week. So long as that hood is nice and walkable I'll book there...seems to be pretty central to everything?
You are good if you are here for a week, choose something in that area near the Shopping Del Sol and it will be pretty walkable.

Or near Shopping Mariscal

I'm sure you'll be good
Uber or Bolt (a little cheaper usually) is very affordable to get around everywhere for a couple dollars so it's all within reach easily
nthnjns 28d
Perfect thank you
Hey, what do you use to book apartments or hotels? Booking/ Airbnb? Or there is something local? I found an apartment that looks good, costs 265 USD for a week
Are any nomads based off here tax-wise?
kaskuk 25d
Iโ€™m sure thereโ€™s a whole variation. Most people use Airbnb since itโ€™s the most convenient for non-Spanish speakers, but the prices are also more elevated. I rent locally since, price-wise, itโ€™s the most affordable but not the nicest area, and I speak Spanish.
rogosak 25d
Yes
I use Airbnb mostly for convenience, since I often book last minute for a month I can usually ask for a little lower rate and get a discount but the premium for having the flexibility works for me. My wife and I like to be able to change things up instead of making a longer term commitment.

On the tax thing, there's another group that is focused on that for the area if you have questions but yeah a lot of people I believe are here for that reason.

I'm working on my residency now
Which group?
Do you mind sharing how much time you spend in Paraguay?
Then whether you have brokerages and banks based off your Paraguay residency?
kaskuk 24d
Tax group in this Telegram community
Local Whatsapp group for Asuncion
rogosak 24d
I spend only the necessary time, that means just couple of days.

Brokers are tough, kept the one in eu I know that there is only one I think it's interactive brokers.

Bank account comes in handy, but not needed. Most of their plans won't be international in the first place. But the bank account is a good proof of residence in case your citizenship country asks
Is the eu brokerage registered under your eu address?
rogosak 23d
Under an eu address yes

Hi everyone, is it possible to set up a company in Paraguay while being outside the country if you have the cedula and a good person to do it?
alexrod94 22d
Iโ€™m curious, what do you do the rest of the year?
alexrod94 22d
Are you a full time traveler?
replay 22d
I don't know the answer, but I'm curious why you want to create a Paraguayan company? For which type of business does that make sense?
Same question, unless you've got a local business idea or a need for the local business... I'd recommend having the business outside the country. Better for taxes and access to resources. US LLC is the most common probably depending on what you are doing.

Disclaimer I'm not a tax expert
silvan 22d
Sorry, I meant get the tax residence here.
You have to visit twice now to get it, it seems.

Once to submit the papers and another to pick up the cedula (id)

That's my understanding
alexrod94 21d
Yep, and even three times in some cases
alexrod94 21d
Or you can stay here for some parts of the process to avoid paying more for flights
๐Ÿ’ฏ it's a nice place to be, we've got a good community building and the weather is good if you like it hot ๐Ÿ˜

I've been here for over a year now
rogosak 21d
Yes
alexrod94 21d
Thatโ€™s awesome! See you on Tuesday if the working meetup is on
alexrod94 21d
Iโ€™d be curious to know more about your experience
It's on!
This past week ๐Ÿ™Œ
Just a fraction of the group, others are sitting on some benches behind and people come and go throughout the 5+ hours
alexrod94 21d
At what time does it start?
alexrod94 21d
I think thereโ€™s also an event today - see you there maybe!
1 pm to 6 pm

But sometimes people get there early and stay later

They are open from 7 am to 8 pm
Hola ๐Ÿ‘‹ anyone bored in Asuncion? Iโ€™m staying here 3 weeks, so happy to meet up for coffee, walk or food
kaskuk 21d
Where are you staying?

I live here, in the centro area.

Originally from Finland but been in LATAM the last 10 years or so.
Iโ€™m next to the sol shopping center. I heard that centro area is not really for living for tourists, right? There are some โ€žpueblosโ€ that might be not really safe.
Join us for Tuesday Coworking, I'll post the details soon
I will ๐Ÿ’ช
Ah shit, there was a meet up yesterday? Just missed it:/
Don't worry, you can join us on Tuesday for coworking ๐Ÿ˜
silvan 19d
You mean the Cedula with the temporary residency, I mean the tax residency for a company
Oh so you already have the cedula?
silvan 18d
Yea
Hey, are you guys meeting tomorrow?
Sorry yeah Tuesday Coworking is on today!
aaah where are you guys?
https://maps.app.goo.gl/bdCz2ssj7gNPYSjp9
We will be here this afternoon
silvan 12d
Hey, are there people who have customers in Europe and a tax setup here in Paraguay? I was wondering if you guys get in "trouble" for that. I've noticed that some clients like to have someone whose company is at least based in Europe.
Generally people tend to setup the company somewhere that makes sense for the business they are doing and it's not optimal to base the business in Paraguay if you are doing business around the world, probably better to have the business based in another region.

US/UK etc would make sense depending on where your customers are at and where you have your residency.

Depending on your goals
You can keep your company in EU and get a tax residency for yourself, make dividends or salary from the company, this will generate cost. Then you donโ€™t really pay taxes in EU. Iโ€™m thinking about it.

Those of you who invest in stocks from Paraguay, which broker do you use?
I believe most people have shared they are using https://www.interactivebrokers.com/
It's one of the few that will allow you to use it as a resident of other countries
In the Digital Nomads ASU group there's a finance channel
Where some people have talked about it
Hey folks, just arrived to Paraguay yesterday as my gf is setting up her tax residency. Iโ€™m a U.S. entrepreneur, been running tech companies for the last decade. Would be great to grab a coffee/co work with anyone in the Capital. Up for that? Give me a shout! โ˜บ๏ธ
welcome! we have a coworking session today https://nomads.com/meetups#264849116ed0fd531cbb6f5f01bf493c
Looking forward to seeing everyone over at West Coffee Julio Correa later today!
Hey guys, what do you think of the area โ€œLas Mercedesโ€ in ASU?
replay 8d
that's my neighborhood, i'm happy with it.
especially the area around Juan de Salazar is nice because it has many restaurants and activity
replay 8d
it also feels like one of the upcoming neighborhoods... I've been living in Las Mercedes since 2017 and during the years since then it has become much more lively than it used to be, many new businesses opened and there's a lot of new buildings going up
thanks for the feedback ๐Ÿ™ that sounds great
replay 8d
I'd recommend that you don't live North of Juan de Salazar though, because there you already get a bit close to one of the shadier areas. Optimal would be to live either on Juan de Salazar or a bit South of it
Thanks man!
replay 8d
Sorry I'm color blind, so I can only guess that the horizontal line at the top is the green line lol...
You see where it says "Hot" on that screenshot? This is an area where you probably don't want to go near to.
Haha ok, yeah I meant that line, no worries. ๐Ÿ˜Š Thank you, helped me a lot๐Ÿ™
Las Mercedes is a good area, I've lived there and in Barrio Jara a few times
