Hey everyone, thinking about going for 2-3 months to Costa Rica to work remotely and surf mid-July / beginning of August.

Did some research about Tamarindo, Nosara, Santa Teresa (not sure yet about the best place). I know it’s not the best time concerning the weather, but unfortunately can’t go any other month for now.

I am though concerned about what everyone says about prices. How expensive is it for food, restaurants, gym, renting a car etc? This can be a dealbreaker.

Costa Rica is very expensive

CR is beautiful, but if you can't afford it, stress might multiply by zero all you can see

It's not as much as not being able to afford but rather if it is worth the extra cost. Example: would I go to Tulum or other places in Mexico for a fraction of the cost?!

My recommendation: do Brasil. In Brasil, you will make better use of your budget. Im myself going in March/April in part because of that.

To give you some context: I spend most of my time in San Jose. Sometimes I drive (6hrs) to Guanacaste or take a flight (30min), specifically to Nosara (have accomodation there, so convenient). With the money I buy one meal there (Im a fairly sized man / 100kg, so might be diff for you) I could eat 3 times in Brasil (based on my experience in 2019, last time there). So yes, CR is beautiful, but at some point you start questioning if 3-5x price tag is ok. Even for locals haha

The problem in Brasil is security. Worst than CR. A bit of precaution and that is it.

On entry to CR, do they strictly check the yellow fever vaccine, e.g coming from Lima? And / or Is a copy of the yellow vaccination sheet enough?

Hey all, considering Costa Rica for ~3-4months June-September. I’m a dive instructor and would love to be able to dive easily on weekends, as well as surf, if possible. Is there anywhere with a good nomad community that’s not crazy expensive anyone can recommend?
