If you are doing it out of pocket going to a smaller clinic for just a thorough blood panel would make most sense. They all end up sending the samples to the same lab and you are just paying extra in the hospital for the interpretation, which Chatgpt could do better at times. If you need a bit more would look up Health Checkup package across BKK and pick one that offers most. Would only go to big hospital if anything seems off 🙃

speaking of DTV, I heard that there have been recent cases of people getting weird questions / request for documents at immigration when trying to re-enter Thailand on an existing DTV. Does anyone know more?

I've re-entered twice with no issues, each time getting another six months stamp. They only checked my visa the first time, I guess it's on the system after that. The only thing I can think of is people forgetting to do the 90 day report if you stay that long but that'll be on exit not entry.

What kind of report do you have to do? I must have missed that.

If you plan on staying longer than 90 days in a row then you need to tell immigration (I think it needs to be 10 days before). The first report needs to be done in person then the rest can be done online. It's something like 200thb per day fine with a max of 2000thb if you don't do it. You'll get fined when you exit. There is a YouTube video if you search on how to do it.

Are you sure? I've been reading about it and I think you can stay 6 months without reporting. You can extend your stay for another 6 months (180 days) without leaving the country. I can't post links here but siam-legal legal has a post which explains it

If I would redo it again, I would get a place at Choengmon Beach (most beautiful beach) and then with the scooter you are already pretty close to Chaweng

Can’t tell you. About burning season, it can really mess with your life if you are sensitive, I would avoid it.

Burning didn’t really start until early March this year. January is still peak season. I was in Chiang Mai until last Sunday, and air quality wasn’t that bad. It’s hot for sure though. There was a big exodus of nomads from Chiang Mai to places like da nang (Vietnam nomad fest) at the end of February though, so not as lively of a nomad scene sadly..

That's quite inaccurate. Bangkok and Chiang mai were frequently in the top 10 worst aqi in the world at the end of January as usual. Over 200 aqi on some days. It's also rough in Da nang, I was there in March.

I was in Bangkok until early February, then Chiang Mai, and yes, air quality wasn’t great in Bangkok at the end of January, but I still don’t think it was as bad in Chiang Mai as some other years, until early March. December was amazing. In general, I’d still recommend both Bangkok and Chiang Mai any time.

Not bad at all! From what I read I was expecting it to be hot, rainy and with bad air quality but none of those things are actually true. It just rains a bit during the evenings and the air quality is not bad at all. Also, it’s not as hot neither.
