1) Wise does check and change. It’s moved several accounts to being Thai residency that I know of.
2) sure, but I really did mean Thai bank accounts. My neighbours got their Thai bank closed when they switched to DTV from elite. That’s a massive problem for Thai residents.
QR scanning is just one requirement I was referring to.
Admittedly, the new Thai wise accounts give you QR scanning, but they hamper absolutely everything else.
3) I have a TBC Georgian account. I don’t see how that ha when you are in Thailand

1 - when did they check and change it? How did that happen? I myself called them when moved Netherlands - Bali - Thailand etc. asking if i need to update my residency and they said i don't have to :)

Sorry. I wasn’t clear enough originally. Bigger problem with DTV is that they will close your Thai bank account and/or refuse to open a new one.

have you updated your address manually for some reason or how did they know you moved to Thailand? E.g. my wise still has a dutch address that i left 4 years ago already.

My wise is still not Thai address. My mothers was re-assigned because thai address. A few others were told to update their address documents because of spending habbits.

If it doesn't work online, you need to go to the immigration, or use mail, or pay an agent to do it for you

You can register to do the reporting on the immigration website. It works well enough, it’s free and you can do it from home. But if you have any irregularities like if you are late, if you changed some detail, or something like that - you will be rejected and have to go in to the office to do it.

For example, today I was at Sukhumvit Hospital, needed a routine ultrasound, they quoted 8,000 baht — I refused and called another hospital, which quoted 2,500 baht for the same procedure. In That area you have a couple coworking spaces - The Hive and 3 stops on BTS away is Atlas at Asok. The Hive has events so you can try n get to know other people.I’m sure some of them follow latest hype trains like AI or whatever else.

The city has a couple communities of tech people for example there is one indie hacker group that meets every Thursday at a coffee place to cowork and socialise and talk about this type of stuff.

FazWaz or Ddproperty, you can easily find a real estate agent there who helps you check out and find apartments. Especially BKK can be an expensive city. You can find something comparatively cheap but you can also easily spend $5,000-$8,000+/month for condos. Same goes for food. Thonglor is a nice area and probably the best area to start with. Wouldn't personally recommend going with smth. like Ari or On Nut only because its cheaper as its mostly because of distance to a lot of nice places I would try to be close by when im new in the city (Benjakitti and Lumphini Park, Emsphere/EmsQuartier, ...)

How is journey from udon thani to laos

Generally fine. Buses go from UT bus terminal every couple of hours from early morning to mid-afternoon. Takes around 2 hours. If it’s busy at the border and your visa process takes a while the bus will leave without you so you will have to take a taxi into Vientiane. You won’t be the only one so you can arrange to share a taxi with other passengers.
You can also take a train. It’s slower (I think ~3 hours) and has fewer departure options; IIRC there’s one early morning and one late afternoon. You can check baolao or 12go to confirm times. Less chaotic border process. You take a bus or taxi from the arrival station into Vientiane itself. Or take a taxi to the other station if you’re heading straight on to VV or LP

In my experience, Bangkok Christian Hospital and St Louis are amongst the cheapest. However, all of them have either LINE, WhatsApp, or a Facebook account. It will be listed on their website. Draft a nice letter with all the procedure details and send it to all of them.

Afaik Thai accounts will no longer be usable to transfer money without remitting into Thailand. That means tax payable if you spend more than 6 months in the kingdom. So promptpay will be a gain, but at the cost of wise becoming similar to a Thai bank.

What exactly do you want to know? It’s a pretty child friendly country overall.

Since we are used to Central Europe, we’d like to spend a month there with a 6- month old.

What child friendly mean? As far I can see online, strollers are difficult to use and carrying babies in the heat might be a problem. We are also concerned about access to medical facilities as needed.

Medical care isn’t too much of an issue. Lots of hospitals with paediatric professionals. Everything from advice to urgent care is very easy to access.

Carrying my son around in one of those child backpacks or stroller was never an issue for us. You end up having to go over a bump between sidewalks sometimes but people complain a mountain out of a molehill online about stuff like this a bit too much in my opinion.

By child friendly I mean it’s easy to live here with a child. People are generally nice to them and even engage especially with younger kids.

The tax thing isnt really an issue in reality.
