I have genki (had it before too), and will have a very small claim to make that Iโ€™ve been too busy to do, so Iโ€™ll find out. Do you have a negative experience to share? I didnโ€™t notice anything alarming in the terms, and knowing lsypfoarxvbs I would be surprised if they didnโ€™t follow through on their policy.
kateshar 12d
Reading the policy is very important I would say. Everyoneโ€™s situation is different.
If you have negative feedback on a fellow nomadโ€™s company, I would hope you would back it up with something of substance.
Yes, everyone should spend the time reading the full insurance policy/conditions!

I know it's a long and often annoying document for people to read, but important to understand how things work, what to expect, and what follow-up questions to ask.

And not just everyone's situation is different, but also every insurance product (and product version) is ๐Ÿ˜ต
kateshar 12d
I said โ€œI would not buy as a Nomadโ€. Genki is emergency health insurance.

Nomads travel (lost bags, delayed flights, cancelled trips) and do more riskier things than average vacation travelers (like diving, surfing, hiking ets).

If you are interested in more details, GPT can help to do a research and comparison of insurances available for nomads.

Our experience with emergency: We used SafetyWing before and got all the medical expenses reimbursed (more than 10000 usd) but had to pay everything UPFRONT and then got reimbursed (a month later). This was a huge surprise for me!

Not every nomad has lump sum laying around for a medical emergency. Nomads buy insurance so they can avoid this kinds of situations with unexpected lump sum paymentsโ€ฆ and what if the emergency situation is more than the amount you have availableโ€ฆ

When you have emergency, you donโ€™t have time to move money arroundโ€ฆor discuss situation with your insurance company if they can help paying the bill because you canโ€™t afford to pay cashโ€ฆ You are on oxygen and painkillersโ€ฆNo time to discuss policy with your providerโ€ฆ That is where REMEMBERING the text of what you MUST do when you actually got an emergency is useful. I donโ€™t think people even read the full health insurance textโ€”let alone remember it.

I wonder, what if my husband was traveling alone as most of the nomads doโ€ฆ How would he deal with emergency if there is no one to read the policy and do what needs to be done to get the reimbursement later. There is ALOT OF things you MUST do if you want to get reimbursed, and if you donโ€™t do them, most things will be excluded from reimbursement later just because you did not do things properly when you were unconscious having an emergency ๐Ÿซฃ

If he was alone, he would have gotten nothing. We got the money only because I read the police multiple times and was checking every document the the hospital provided to make sure it meets the expectation of the policy while paying everything upfront hoping that it would be reimbursed later.

wanna rent in Bangkok an apartment with roof top pool, any recommendations?
kkama0011 11d
smth like cool condo with gym / pool / cinema inside the building
davidtonn 11d
I lived at Ashton Chula Silom - and honestly, it was one of the happiest times of my life.

Fair warning though: if your windows face the street, forget sleeping without earplugs. And I say this as someone who rides a litre-class sportbike - the tuk-tuks outside will absolutely destroy your sleep. Different kind of noise entirely.

But earplugs? Small price to pay. The gym is solid, and the pool is genuinely stunning.

Would do it again in a heartbeat.โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹
minonomad 10d
Hey! Does anyone have a link to a digital nomad group on WhatsApp for Chiang Mai?
srnm01 10d
If you want value and don't mind a 45 min metro ride to get into centre, Bang Na has new apartments with all the amenities. Everything you need daily is close by.

If you are looking for something more central and are willing to spend, the metro stops around Thong Lo are good areas/trendy.

Any good tax lawyer to recommend?

ok
jeniapus 10d
i think your a bit drunk
jeniapus 10d
nothing special in koh samui and saying its busier than medellin is kinda funny ,and i was in both
jeniapus 10d
medellin is a city , and its huge compared to koh samui which is a small tiny island and the nightlife area is summed up in one area .
jeniapus 10d
a few clubs and most of them are not special at all . nothing to be proud of
maxdruiz 10d
I disagree, all good though
minonomad 10d
Yeah I guess itโ€™s very much personal preference. I didnโ€™t like the vibes there on the islands and power cuts every 2-3 days on Ko Pangan while you want to work is not really fun either
jeniapus 10d
im curious on what nightlife you exprienced in medellin that made you come to the conclusion koh samui us better
jeniapus 10d
is better
Hey, does anyone have a recommendation for a Thai tax advisor who truly understands the tax treatment of US LLCs for residents in Thailand?
lolahht 8d
Hey, has anyone entered Thailand to validate their DTV recently? Do they actually ask for the return ticket ?
if you enter with dtv they dont
from my exprience atlist
i entered with dtv . its enough . i think they ask for return ticket only if you dont have a long term visa
I usually get this to be on the safe side https://onwardticket.com
lolahht 8d
Great, thanks guys !!
i think it depends on which airport you enter. with DTV in BKK, they never asked for a return ticket, but at HKT, they made me purchase one to be allowed entry.
lolahht 8d
Good to know, thanks ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ
I'm doing Songkran as well in CNX!
Arrived here a month ago they didn't ask me either
Hey, I entered Thailand via land and got 60 day entry with an AU passport. Is it possible to extend while in the country or do I have to do a visa run? Cheers
Hi, has anyone ever been to HOMA Cherngtalay in Phuket? If so, would you recommend spending a month there? I was thinking of going from mid-April to mid-May. Thanks ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป
tonyd 8d
You can do one 30 day extension at an immigration office. 1900 bhat and a photo and paperwork. Then you need to exit Thailand.
Thanks mate. Is it a pretty straight forward process to go down there and do it yourself?
Thanks Tony โœŒ๏ธ
srnm01 7d
I got the 30 day extension with no problems in Krabi last year. But visa runs are not likely to work any more. If you want to stay long term you'll probably need a DTV or other long term visa.
Perfect. Cheers for the heads up
Pretty sure these were not clouds lol
Someone in BKK?
Lol yes Donald
Free tonight and tomorrow in BKK
Yes ๐Ÿ™‚
im in bkk
me too
quasa0 5d
You can extend for 30 days and do a visa run later, just make sure to spend 1-2 days in another country before coming back and it's all good. There's also people you can pay and they help you do visa run same day, I know such service in chiang Mai and used it twice (a year ago and 1 month ago)
any cool fam places to meet sunset in Phuket?
Iโ€™ll be free around 10pm today or tomorrow I want to hit chatuchak market
danamo 5d
I wouldnโ€™t recommend relying on this approach anymore, not more than once a year. At least in Bangkok immigration has been tightened up in my experience.
anyone near sukhumvit 11?
We are at pratunam market
was curious about the status of sukhumvit 11, is it like it usually is or did it turn into something else? (heard rumors was curious)

Hey what are the best co-working spaces in phuket?
t4nm4y 5d
Also what are the best locations to stay at.
t4nm4y 5d
I've booked my flight to phuket on Monday, due to poor aqi here in Chiang Mai.
Amazing. Thanks so much for the info. Would love the contact for the visa run if you're happy to share. Thanks

โ€œwas curious about the status of sukhumvit 11, is it like it usually is or did it turn into something else?โ€ Your message does not sound like a message about โ€œjust a streetโ€ ๐Ÿค“
i heard it turned into little india basically so was trying to confirm if this was true or not
quasa0 3d
could you please clarify what exact approach you wouldn't rely on anymore? extending / doing a single visa run / extending again / what exact part was "tightened"?
danamo 3d
I would not do very short visa runs any longer. 1-2 days visa hops are IMO unlikely to work. out well. Immigration at Bangkok airport has tightened. They are not turning a blind eye to it any longer
quasa0 3d
has anyone managed to extend the stay for 1 month after a visa run? I've so far spent 2 months visa free + 1 month extension + visa run and 2 months, want to do 1 more extension
quasa0 3d
damn

> Important heads-up on new rules (Nov 2025): Extensions are now limited to 2 times per calendar year โ€” first extension gives 30 days, second gives only 7 days. Also, if you entered via a land border, youโ€™re not eligible for an extension
srnm01 3d
Another visa run is likely to draw scrutiny. You might be able to get special terms due to the Middle East situation.
danamo 3d
Also, thereโ€™s a number of days you can be in Thailand per year (I think itโ€™s calendar year but please check that too) after which, independently of short visa run, they are not supposed to admit you. This always existed but they started enforcing it recently
quasa0 3d
Yeah. Looking for flights to Malaysia now lol. Recently saw on X that it's also nice
danamo 3d
I didnโ€™t like KL but YMMV
What YMMV??
I wanted to extend for 30 days after 2 months visa free but got rejected. Had to exit the next day to Malaysia and the ticket costed me RM1.7k to KUL.
I applied for extension in Nonthaburi BKK
tonyd 3d
Your Milage May Vary.. ie you might have a difference experience etc.
taetae 2d
hi
taetae 2d
is there a way to check a list of meetups happening in Chiang Mai here
Hi guys, whatโ€™s your favourite area in Bangkok to stay and why?
It depends on your plans. Generally it is a good idea to live close to a BTS station (Nana for bars and parties, Thong Lo for Japanese restaurants, On Nut to Udom Suk for condos, gyms, coworking places with more affordable prices)
I wanted to move to Chiang Mai in a month, but as you probably know, the burning season has just started, so Iโ€™m unsure if itโ€™s a good idea. And now Iโ€™m considering staying in Bangkok for another month. Currently, Iโ€™m staying in Thonglor/Ekkamai. Itโ€™s quite good; however, I feel I miss quiet walking streets. An ideal reference Iโ€™m searching for is similar to the Nimman in CM. GPT suggests me to try Ari, as it is more quiet and less touristic but still comfortable.
Thx Artem, whatโ€™s your fav area to stay in BKK, If you have one?
I stayed 2 months at Udom Suk (with free coworking zones in True Digital Park), but soon I'll spend two days in Old Town (near the Learning Center of Bank of Thailand)
Nimman area in CM is far from quiet, the opposite I would say is true: You have airplanes over your head every 5 minutes until late at night. I would never stay in the area. Re Bangkok: it is difficult to find โ€œquiet placesโ€, one of the few downsides of this otherwise amazing city.
Hm, interesting... I never even noticed airplanes when I was in Nimman ๐Ÿค” Sometimes there was music in the evening, but not late into the night. I lived in the eastern half of Nimman (where all the cafes and eateries are located) - no traffic, quiet, no planes.
I had the same issue.. I might come back but in May / June
Iโ€™m in CNX/nimman. Air got really smoky about a week ago like a flip of a switch, and itโ€™s worse than last year, so if youโ€™re sensitive to that then probably better to stay in BKK for a while. I stay in Thonglor when there and love it, but maybe try talat noi/songwat rd for a change.. Ari can be nice too, but a lot of government office employee types around there so itโ€™s a different vibe.. I need to reset my DTV and will do a couple short trips out of here, but mostly Iโ€™ll still be in Chiang Mai. Songkran will be fun here regardless. I can also have a full philosophical discussion about why the smoke here is about freedom, but Iโ€™ll leave that for another time ๐Ÿ˜‚
https://maps.app.goo.gl/HoYQfhh1te5J3x847?g_st=ic

And if you stay in BKK around that area, youโ€™ll find a brand new branch of one of my favorite Chiang Mai coffee shops there..
lachlan 9h
Yo Artem, when do you get to old town? I'm staying there at the moment
andreww 7h
Question for anyone in Thailand whoโ€™s a remote employee on the DTV, and stays in Thailand for most of the year: Did your employer have any Thai-side obligations as a result of you being there? i.e. any Thailand registration, compliance, payroll etc.?
