Yep i've let HMRC know I'm no longer living in UK. I was always on the presumption that it was 183 days a year, however now looks like it differs with certain 'ties' e.g. I have a family home I could stay in here if I wanted to (and have been), I was a tax resident in the UK previous two financial years, and I also have a UK business which I work on whilst I'm back in the UK.

So from my research that would potentially equal '3 ties' meaning I could only stay in the UK for up to 45 days per financial year.

Have I understood that correctly?

Best to go to a lawyer really.

Look up the "KPMG Statutory Residence Test" for a flowchart. Seems like the government has made it as complicated as possible.
