Only possible to do 2 times, because they register IMEI
angel 1mo
Oh damn. Iโ€™ve never registered my IMEI, so for me it works every time
axel 1mo
Buy a cheap phone in Indonesia and use it as a mobile hotspot. That's how I did it for 3 years.
brendanb 1mo
Yeah me neither. Is this obligatory
elpol 1mo
I think itโ€™s decent, itโ€™s quite a long way. Iโ€™ve seen people pay 500k from Oldmans to Padonan ๐Ÿ˜
Does your phone support esims? If so, there should be plenty of options, depending on whether you need sms / voice or can just do with data. e.g. pangiapass.com
sergiocgn 1mo
Yes, you need. You can register your imei only twice. If you want to keep using it they want pay tariffs on your phone. So if you want to max the 2 times out you need to go to some official place. If you do it in the small shops you will have 1 + 1 month covered. But if you do it here https://maps.app.goo.gl/Bsou3KdheGUtxCTN7. Then you can have 3 month + 3 months extension.
sullivan 1mo
Heya, Iโ€™m thinking of hosting an event next week, what days would fit best usually ?
timothy 1mo
Whats the best Bali Bustle or similar?
the best what?
sullivan 1mo
the what?
sullivan 1mo
I found a good one to make a meetup if you guys/girls wanna join :

https://nomads.com/meetups#3ddfe4e883e278129a669ac85d5b7534
brendanb 1mo
Any day but after 3 or 4 would be best for me :)
sullivan 1mo
Perfect I hosted the event on 16th ;)
brendanb 1mo
So what if you donโ€™t do this and just do an eSIM like airalo? Can they fine you or smt?
haarolean 1mo
Nah no fines. Just the local sims wonโ€™t work anymore
victorg18 1mo
Some people around Uluwatu tonight ? ๐Ÿ˜
hugohb 1mo
Finally here in Bali and I'm already loving it! Anyone in Amed who feels like hanging out, give me a shout!
hugohb 1mo
Also looking for a place to work in Amed, with very reliable internet and ideally open until midnight. Most important criteria being the internet.
hugohb 1mo
And I'm looking for freediving buddies :)
fruntxas 1mo
Hi everyone,
Portuguese guy here...
I am getting a lot of mixed info on the visa thing.
Do we need to get one before or they give it on arrival?
fruntxas 1mo
I am getting sites where you pay anything from โ‚ฌ2 to โ‚ฌ60
anomad 1mo
Is it true that bali is having flooding issues?
anomad 1mo
Or just fake news?
fruntxas 1mo
https://www.theguardian.com/world/gallery/2025/sep/11/flash-flooding-in-bali-indonesia-in-pictures
brendanb 1mo
Itโ€™s ok now. But super rainy the last few days. I was pretty impressed with how good the flood infrastructure was in Canggu
brendanb 1mo
You can get a visa on arrival at the airport, which probably takes 10-30 mins to line up for. Then you can just go through the e-gates scanning your passport to go through immigration.
You can also get an e-visa version of the same thing which is also a 30 days visa, you can extend them for another 30 days by going to the immigration office in person.
After your 60 days are up you can do a border run and return the next day and repeat without any issues.
brendanb 1mo
Thereโ€™s also a 180 day single entry or multi entry visa
fruntxas 1mo
Got it ๐Ÿ˜Ž
fruntxas 1mo
Was looking into 500 +150 IDR.
But can't find these values online, so I'll just do at the airport
menace 1mo
If you intend to extend, absolutely do the e-visa. The extension process is three times as difficult for a Visa on arrival. Just go to the official website for the Visa.
menace 1mo
The Official eVisa website for Indonesia https://share.google/nIgSEFlXo46RZgGUF
fruntxas 1mo
I saw this one but....
fruntxas 1mo
All I can find is Australian ๐Ÿ˜…
fruntxas 1mo
Oh I see the mistake now.
It's the 1st option (General)
kristof 1mo
Definitely not fake news lol
Can confirm itโ€™s one of the wildest in history
According to locals that have been here a long time. I was riding the scooter pretty much all day from 4p to 2-3a and didnโ€™t think much of it then the sounds of the storm at 4-6a
fruntxas 1mo
So....how bad is it exactly?
Is is mainly DPS or...?
brendanb 1mo
Itโ€™s fine now, but whole highway tunnels were flooded and at least one building fell. It hasnโ€™t rained today, so it should be ok from here on
hi everyone, im geetting my e33g kitas, which bank do you suggest? i was checking bca bc is big or digibank by DBS bc seems more like digital like revolut
also from reviews of the app, digibank has 4.6 on 20k reviews bca has 3.2 and 33k reviews
sullivan 1mo
Revolut my guy
sullivan 1mo
Canโ€™t wait for tomorrowโ€™s meetup, see you guys there https://nomads.com/meetups#3ddfe4e883e278129a669ac85d5b7534
sossho 1mo
You could Try neobanks like juuli, those are specific to nomads
haarolean 1mo
All of them are meh kinda. No apple/google pay whatsoever, multi currency accs are a joke mostly. OCBC is kinda stable rn IIRC but requires 50mil deposit ish
sullivan 1mo
For the meetup Iโ€™m there in 2min, with a friend, white face, white t-shirt
sullivan 30d
where are you guys ? :D
shivdee 30d
Hey guys just joined this community and found out about this meetup lol
shivdee 30d
You guys planning to be there for a while? I can reach in like 20-25 min I think
victorgk 29d
Hey !

arriving soon to Bali, need real field tips (place + price + contact).

Fast answers on:

โ€ข Best card for ATM withdrawals (Wise / Revolut / local bank)? Which ATM to use (BCA / Mandiri / BNI)?

โ€ข eSIM vs physical SIM โ€” which provider for best island coverage (Telkomsel recommended?) and which reseller (Airalo / Holafly / Saily)?

โ€ข SIM-C: any reliable agents who arranged it quickly (price / process)? Need to be present?

โ€ข Scooter rental: recommended shops, do they check license, do they provide helmets & insurance?

I only have French 125cc training (not A1/A2). If youโ€™ve done it anyway, share how.

Thanks! ๐Ÿ™
zubair 29d
Anyone on Lombok?
anomad 27d
what I disliked about bali is that I found myself always needing to take transportation to just go anywhere
anomad 27d
i only remember perenan as a place where I could walk, but even to get there I had to take a grab
anomad 27d
i haven't seen uluwatu and nusa because i got sick when i was there
anomad 27d
but yeah basically I had three issues:
- no way to eat good groceries without paying US prices (higher than my budget as italian)
- the water. next time i will use bottled water to even wash myself, cause I was getting sick multiple times
- the fact that (while staying in seminyak) I always needed to take a grab to go everywhere. and that can be OK. but when I get to a place, the fact that EVEN THERE I have to get grab to go in the areas of that same place, left me with a bad memory about this
anomad 27d
if I had a motorbike or car to drive, it would have been different, but then I have to basically risk having an accident without being insured and/or just driving illegally. and my gf couldn't drive anyway in that kind of chaotic driving
anomad 27d
so, have you any kind of tip for the next time? maybe I missed out on something?
anomad 27d
also, the vibe felt fakish and off a bit, compared to phuket. more than a couple times it seemed to me I was on instagram, not real life, lol.
Yeah. I couldn't imagine my life without driving. Makes a huge difference
kristof 24d
- Wise / Revolut all fine, any atm fine except I think commonwealth charges
- Telkomsel physical or local esim
- Can get local license yes, but don't have a contact
- Basically no rental shop asks for license ever. They provide helmets yes, insurance almost never
fruntxas 24d
Wise does have wider acceptance apparently
fruntxas 24d
I'd suggest getting Wise and putting up Curve below
fruntxas 24d
If you stick to road rules and wear a helmet it's unlikely to be asked for a license really.

Either way keep only a 800k-1M IDR in hand just in case they want the bribe
victorgk 23d
Thank you rfvvnvbfxse and bperklft for tips ๐Ÿ™‚ great to know all these things :p
kristof 23d
Waaaay less than 800k dude. Last time I "paid a local style fine" I gave 38k
fruntxas 23d
โ‚ฌ2...
Must have been an hungry cop
kristof 23d
Few years ago though so def gone up, but for you sure don't need to pay a mil
kristof 23d
Done that like prob 10 times never paid more than 50
fruntxas 23d
Different experiences I guess.
Already had to help a friend who was trying to give 500k.
He was going to be pulled to the station
I paid 500k for myself and my passenger not wearing a helmet a few months ago in Ubud. 38k sounds extremely cheap
This one time my friend in the back of the scooter wasnโ€™t wearing a helmet and I had to pay 100k once for him. It was friendly and the guy even waited for me to hit an ATM across town cuz the others were all drained ๐Ÿคฃ
Just kinda depends what kinda cops will pull you overโ€ฆI believe itโ€™s 250k per person but I could be wrong
fawwaz 20d
Any long term peeps here?
Hey all ๐Ÿ‘‹, Iโ€™ve been living in Bali now for a few years. I wanted to check if there is any other people in the group that are living in Bali long-term and if they may want to meet up.
Hi , anyone know Exchange office or Agent China Alipay to IND
Anyone do business with China ?
sullivan 15d
Heya, whoโ€™s in Uluwatu this month ?
kristof 15d
Helmet is more expensive. If you don't wear a helmet you deserve a bigger "fine" haha
zubair 15d
Anyone in Seminyak Wana explore Amed together?
adrinomad 13d
Hey, iโ€™m in Bali and I was thinking on doing a two weeks remote work focus mode sprint here. Any recommendations for a city to stay some time and have some infrastructure and some bars, cafes, spa, etc and the least tourist traps. I was thinking between amed, canggu or Ubud. What is the โ€œvibeโ€ on these cities?
adrinomad 13d
Also, do you know any place to rent a scooter to move around the island?
shivdee 13d
I rented mine from Guru Bikes, Canguu. Pretty good experience
adrinomad 13d
Great thanks! Do you need to return it in the same place?
shivdee 13d
They'll charge 100-200k if you drop it outside Canguu. I dropped it near the airport which was 100k

200k for Ubud/Uluwatu
adrinomad 13d
Great! Thanks
melunia 11d
I liked ubud the most. Uluwatu and canggu were too crowded causing heavy traffic.. but itโ€™s known for its nomad scene. never been to Amed but itโ€™s the least popular, you might find more opportunities to focus there.
hugohb 8d
Hey peeps, just arrived in Ubud and looking to meet people :) Any meetup or impromptu gathering happening these days?
hugohb 8d
Just spent a whole month in Amed, I can't believe it's the least popular. I had an absolute blast there! Life is just so chill and nice, and the community quite tight knit.
samuba 7d
Any recommended place for doing bloodwork? Don't want to spend too much on the health clubs
Hey Hugo (and rest of the crowd). Just arrived here in Ubud as well. I will be staying here for quite some time to settle down with the gypsy lifestyle ๐Ÿ˜„ At least for the rest of the year, maybe more.

Would be happy to meet up with you, and anyone for that matter. I dmโ€™d :)
Iโ€™m going to be in Amed for the next 2 weeks if anyoneโ€™s in town. Probably going to be working from La Timba most days so hit me up! ๐Ÿค™
Where's the best place to go in Bali nowadays? Stayed in canggu in 2018 but heard it's very different now
danjoe4 3d
Same question. Sentiment seems to be that canggu is congested and icky. Or should I stop overthinking it and just go to Bwork and get the hotel nextdoor
What are you looking for? If you want to be around a bunch of gym bros and party every night then Canggu is pretty good still. Just donโ€™t stay in berawa bc the shortcut is horrible
danjoe4 3d
I'm trying to get actual work done. Ideally combined or at least adjacent hotel + cowork. I don't need a big room. I like coliving type spaces as long as they have a quiet dedicated work area. Proximity to a nice beach is a plus.
BWork is opening a new spot in Uluwatu I think this month. The beach is way better in Uluwatu although thereโ€™s less of a DN community imo
danjoe4 3d
Yeah Canggu beach looked bad. Uluwata hub looked promising but accommodations nearby are expensive or fully booked. Colabo looks cool but their website is down and no one picks up the phone which is a bad sign and apparently they're not 24/7.

I'll go Bwork for my first week in Bali.
I just spent a month at Bwork. Itโ€™s ok. Probably the best coworking in Canggu now that Outpost and Dojo have closed. The wifi is a bit slow sometimes though. But itโ€™s still a good place to work.
I'm at Bwork almost everyday. Canggu is still home for me. Depends on what you like. For me, it's still the clear winner
