Hi guys, I'm heading to Goa (Majorda) next week. I'm arriving at Goa Mopa airport, and the place I'm staying at quoted me 4,000 INR for the taxi from the airport to them. Does is seem reasonable for you? How do you usually go to find a taxi or private driver?

Hi Hugo! For goa i'd recommend using an app called Goa Miles, it's their local uber app

Thanks feviyoqmrqycgu but that's the local taxi mafia app, and I'm not supporting that. I've had issues with official taxis in Goa before and I'm done giving them a single cent...

Yeah man, quite frankly the taxi scene in goa is pretty bad. It's a choice between overpriced official cabs and cheaper mafia-run alternatives

Best bet is to ask your airbnb host / hotel reception for a driver's reference

Based on your knowledge, does 4k INR for a ride from Mopa airport to Majorda seem consistent with "normal" fares?

Only been to Goa once in recent times and didn't want to go again because I am too dependent on Uber. But Uber is functional in Goa especially at the airport, you just have to be hush about it, as the local cab mafia does not take kindly to the uber drivers.

I just did a quick check and Uber Airport Premier (only available category) shows 3000 for a ride from Mopa to Majorda. Although actually getting a car might be difficult.

It is hard to say. You could try your luck but if it fails, you will be at the mercy of the cabs at the airport. Also, last I visited I was at the other airport (not the Mopa one), and was able to get an uber, but not sure about Mopa airport. If I was in your place, I would just bite the bullet and prebook the car.

Made it to Goa yesterday, in the end a ride from any of the official taxi booths were cheaper... 2.000 INR from Mopa to Majorda, without negociating.

I don't use Uber when I'm hear, the best (by far) is to rent a scooter to move around. As for the airport ride experience, check Vipul's messages just above mine. For me in the end, arriving in Mopa, it would have been simpler and cheaper to take an taxi from the official booths right at the exit of the airport, than to try and arrange my own private transportation in advance.

Weather is as good as it gets: 30-35° all day every day, barely any clouds, definitely no rain, little humidity felt. 🙂

As for the cleanliness, well... I hope you've already been to India. If not, you're in for a shock, despite Goa being the cleanest State in India by a wide margin. Although the few beaches that I've seen so far (around Majorda & Benaulim) are clean, and I've even seen a few workers cleaning them and picking up trash.

I just saw his notes, will use that to get to the house I rented. Did you have a preferred place to rent scooters or is it like Thailand/Virtnam where anywhere is usually fine?

I've been to almost every Indian province at this point (with the exception of the weird overseas ones and a few in the Northeast) so I'm pretty well prepared for the trash haha just wondering if they were keeping it clean bc I've read about a few recent iniatives...I'll be staying in Assagao area if you have any tips...

I think you need a yellow license plate on the scooter. I have bad peripheral vision and a heavy accelerator I’ve never seen them try to flag me down 😅

Try and find a scooty with a yellow plate they usually cost more and have your paperwork in order, wear your helmet you’ll be fine unless you go to somewhere silly like baga

The only time I've been around Anjuna and Vagator was 10 years ago, so I'm afraid my tips aren't fresh 😅

The Arpora night market used to be a must-do, but last time I went there 2 years ago it was just a pale copy of its former self.

The best beaches are in the South, the most famous being Palolem and Agonda (although I find Agonda actually boring).

Yeah KYC they changed all the rules your best bet is get Cheq app go to a meeting in Mumbai or Delhi to verify identity and UPI everywhere

You can get a bank account on a business visa if you jump through the hoops I’ll do that when my 5 year tourist visa is a little closer to expiry

I've all my identity and govt validation stored on a govt app that works everywhere through just one QR....all I need to do is to add my itrenry on the app before reaching the airport
