My name is Lakisha and I’m currently building goldenweeks Retreats in Zanzibar.

It’s an accountability retreat for entrepreneurs, freelancers and remote workers who want to make real progress on a project, business or idea in a supportive community and beautiful environment.

The retreat takes place in November 2026 and lasts 2 weeks. We’ll stay together in a beach villa with pool in Zanzibar with a maximum of 8 people.

The idea is simple:
focused work sessions during the day, mastermind sessions in the evening, less distraction, more momentum and being surrounded by people who are also building something meaningful.

Anyone have any tips for diani beach? Places to stay, work from, where to go to the beach to avoid too many hawkers etc, places to go out, things to do?

Yes, don't go :) Nowhere to work from, not walkable, spread out.. it's just resorts

Yes I'm here now and not loving it. Anyone can comment on other beaches in East Africa? Watamu or Lamu? Maybe not good for working but could be ok to visit. Zanzibar or Dar maybe?

I have found Diani especially around Galu area to be more nomad / backpack friendly
