Back in KL. Going to the local malls trying to get ESIM but everyone only offers physical SIM. Was trying to avoid Airalo and such apps for cheaper options.

The hotlink/maxis/tunetalk apps are problems because you can’t pay with foreign credit card. And all the ewallet options require Malay number 🙃

I know there was one mall/stall where I was able to get a tunetalk eSIM. Was just wondering if there were other options?

Digi has eSIMs, need to visit their center. Celcom can work too, it's the same company now.

Not sure you can pay with the card, though. Why wouldn't you withdraw some cash for it? Many ATMs have no fee except you bank's one.

Was referring to in app payments with the credit card. If in person requires cash then yes I will just use ATM.

For hotlink you also can pay in person. Their app was a problem for me when I tried to register.

Confirming that CelcomDigi did work. They only accepted cash so an ATM was necessary. They first issue physical and then change it to ESIM.

Note for future readers: bring passport.

According to him the other carriers could do it but don’t want to bother with it 🤷‍♂️

If you have Wise, I recommend opening TnG on this new number. TnG is a payment provider, you can use to pay with QR in places not accepting cards.

If you don't have Wise, that will be problematic to top it up.

fwiw you can use wise for paying any duitnow (if you're happy typing the details), but long term TnG is easier

Ordered a coke (normal), it tastes different, worse, like it's diet. The sugar here is different or I got a spoiled can?

Probably not spoiled. Where are you used to drink coke? You can compare amount of sugar in your current can and from a random American can from the internet. It may differ.

I actually thought that coke started to taste worse (more artificial? whatever I mean by it) in the last 3 years. I believed it's a global change of the recipe but after your message I started to consider if it may relate to me moving to SEA 3 years ago!

From a restaurant or at the store? Afaik the coke here tastes the same as the ones on other countries (China, Thailand, Taiwan, Japan, Australia in the recent years I’ve visited)

Indeed, in my experience, all MY telcos don't accept non-Malaysian cards. I use Grab Wallet, top it up with my Revolut card, and then pay for my CelcomDigi prepaid. I can use the Touch'n'Go Wallet too. However, paying with Grab Wallet gives me points that I can then use to discount rides or food delivery.

Restaurant tried explaining something about how it’s cooked, but due to the language barrier I didn’t really get what they were trying to say. They say it’s safe, but I just can’t find anything on the internet to back it up lol

Lazada no longer accepts my Revolut cards. Even though I used it for years. Additionally, Wise can no longer top up my Touch'n'Go wallet via Duitnow.

Anyone else has the same issues?

Wise does a direct transfer to TNG wallet based on my Malaysian number. Registered and validated in TNG a while ago. TNG still highlights topping up via Wise as a valid option. There's no payment card involved in this process.

Yeah, it's so random with all the Malaysian wallets and payments. Boost was working for me for some time, now it doesn't. TNG was, now it doesn't. The same with Grab wallet.

Seems I just need to default to Revolut & Wise cards. And if all fails, just withdraw cash from the local ATMs, as both Rev and Wise offer high thresholds to take out cash without fees.

All other payment solutions are unreliable and unpredictable.
