Hello nomads

As many of yoy I'm experiencing the terrible housing situation in the NL, but i have a question here:
My business is not registered in the NL, and I'm getting a lot of rejections because of it. How do expats find apartments then? I bet most of them are not registered in the NL

I'm looking for a place in amsterdam preferbly for me and my girlfriend, but if they dont take into account my income, wiht only my gfs is not going to be enough

If so, the solution is to go around telling absolute everyone that you are looking for an apartment until someone bites. That's how I have always done it. I have never rented anything through some official intermediate who checked my income. Just handshake stuff.

Also the laws are so bad that there might be people who are happy to rent to you under some condition that you, e.g. leave if they ask you, or not go complain about the rent through some official channel (rent caps make it often unprofitable to rent out at all).

Are you going to be in the Netherlands for longer? In that case you'd become a tax resident and I think you could route your foreign business income to a Dutch company

Is 3000euros per month a reasonable price nowadays there?

3000 for the month is very high. So I don't know how much short term rental is, but I'd check Airbnb for that. For longterm, a studio/small apartment would go for about 1200 – 1800, Average/anything for couples would be 1800 – 3500, and above that it just gets more luxurious

Also, people that Airbnb their house in Amsterdam are only allowed to legally do so for 30 days a year. So, many of the places you find on Airbnb would be happy to rent it for a longer period outside of Airbnb. They just need to be willing to rent outside of Airbnb and I'm sure you could get a good price
