If you want the dividend get paid out, I think you could also just buy Ireland domiciled distributing ETFs and they'd pay you the dividend -15%, although I have never tried that myself
replay 3mo
Keep in mind that the entity which buys these shares is the ETF, not you, so the ETFs domicile is what counts
replay 3mo
i believe that in germany it is also 15%
replay 3mo
I'm no expert in german taxes, but I wouldn't be surprised if germany would then also impose it's own taxes on german-domiciled ETFs
replay 3mo
i think there is a reason why most european ETFs are domiciled in Ireland (plus some in Lux)

xmerelus 12d
Hey guys! Just joined the group but have been living in Asuncion since Oct!
xmerelus 12d
It looks like I chose the hottest time of the year to move here haha
kaskuk 12d
U gonna get used to it mate! We are just getting to the hottest time. ๐Ÿ˜
I was just looking at a memory from last year, not so bad ๐Ÿ˜‚

It was saying 40 feels like 48 last year at this time ๐Ÿ”ฅ
xmerelus 12d
Feels like 48! ๐Ÿ˜ณ
xmerelus 12d
To be honest. I can't complain. In the US right now. One side is fighting forest fires and the other side is having snow for the first time in years. I'll be grateful for the consistent weather ๐Ÿ˜…
jordini 12d
Yeah, that is pretty crazy indeed ๐Ÿ˜…
jordini 12d
Sorry for the switch, but do you guys have any restaurant recommendations? I just kinda end up going to Cafe de aca way too often hehe
jordini 12d
(I am a vegetarian)
xmerelus 12d
I haven't tried this place but its on my list and says it's plant based.
jordini 12d
And another question. Everyone tells me that paraguay is SO CHEAP but like.. where? Where is stuff cheap exactly? I haven't seen any cheap clothes for instance or cheap restaurants in any ok neighbourhood
xmerelus 12d
ECO Cafรฉ Resto Plant-Based
xmerelus 12d
Denis Roa 1248, Asunciรณn 001409, Paraguay
xmerelus 12d
If you're shopping retail for clothes. Most stuff is pretty standard pricing and even as expensive as some stores in the US. But it also depends on what you're comparing it too.
xmerelus 12d
For me, coming for the States. Every thing is cheap. Ubers, groceries, and most restaurants
jordini 12d
Ubers yes, but I think clothes are about the same, restaurants are half the price compared to amsterdam (where I'm from)
jordini 12d
Planning to go there soon now ๐Ÿ˜„
jordini 12d
Looks pretty great
jordini 12d
Are you also coming on tuesday, to the meetup? gadqvblntaaxwtwqu
kaskuk 12d
Everything is cheap in Mercado 4, but u gotta know your way around, itโ€™s a huge place!
xmerelus 12d
Yea, I can be there! I need to get out of my apartment for work for once lol. I've been spoiled working from home
xmerelus 12d
There are a few places that are similar. I can put a list together and send to you
jordini 11d
Hehe, me too!
I'm going to post the Tuesday Coworking meetup today so it's on the calendar

Hey guys, anyone travelled by bus from Ciudad del Este to Asunciรณn?
and second question, any idea of the close destinations of cheap flights from Asunciรณn? I wonder where to go after Paraguay.
Yes. It took us forever. They stopped every 15 minutes. It took forever, but no issues, you can take the bus from Asuncion to Brasil. That one was way better
Omg I saw that it takes 6-7 hrs, is that true?
did you buy tickets in advance somewhere?
Thanks Niklas!
We expected, 5-6 hours it took us over 8. It's not that the roads are crazy or anything, it really was that particular bus driver who stopped every 15 minutes. He had like food delivered, chatted with some friends. We've taken over 30 buses in Latin America and this was really the worst one. If I recall correctly, we bought it on 12go asia and yes a bit in advance but not much
Haha okay, thanks! Maybe they have several lines in this connection and wonโ€™t be that bad, at least I know what to expect ๐Ÿ˜…
The journey was really beautiful though with the scenery. It's extremely green and dense with forest
Thatโ€™s I wanted to go by bus to see it
Thanks!
is it extremely hot there I guess?
jrejaud 10d
I'm in Ascuncion now, it's hot but not as humid as SEA/ EA imo
That's what I keep trying to tell people too, the temperatures are similar but the humidity being lower makes it feel better. It's still hot don't get me wrong lol
jrejaud 10d
Can anyone recommend a package forwarded (besides Saspy) to get items from the US to PY? Saspy apparently uses POB and Amazon refues to delivery random stuff to some of their addresses.
jrejaud 10d
Can you recommend any particular forests/ areas?
yeah but it was more dry hot when I was there. I prefer it over asia humid hot.
I didn't go hiking in asuncion. I just saw the beauty from the bus, inside
Weird, I haven't had any issues sending to Saspy from Amazon, are you sending to their Miami address? We've got a few people in the West Coffee coworking group that use other forwarders, I'll ask for recommendations for you.
jrejaud 9d
Yes, the miami one
jrejaud 9d
It's random stuff too, like a hat, a pair of socks, some face cream, not drugs or ammo
jrejaud 9d
Can you invite me please? โค๏ธ
What is the best district to stay in Asunciรณn for nomads?
I've lived in a number of neighborhoods and they all have been pretty great, with Bolt being just a couple dollars to get around it really depends on the experience you want to have.

I think most people would say near Shopping Del Sol.

I have lived in Santa Teresa/Mburucuya, Barrio Jara, Las Mercedes, Villa Morra, Los Laureles, Herrera, Recoletta, probably a few others.

Enjoyed them all for different reasons but if you want to be walking distance to a lot of things in the nicest areas probably Shopping Del Sol or Villa Morra are still going to be the top recommended areas.
Great! Thanks! See you guys soon there!
Good group joining tomorrow for Tuesday Coworking ๐Ÿš€
Even though I'm still at 1 rsvp on Nomads ๐Ÿ˜‚

Reminder it's the one on Julio Correa in Santa Teresa near Shopping Del Sol (not by Shopping Mariscal)

What are the nice buildings in Asuncion for Airbnb? The apartments all look pretty similar on the inside so just curious which buildings have the best location/fewest issues...
There's some nice buildings but it depends where you want to be and what your price point is etc.

We've found some nice places that are more unique, I do agree that some of them are very cookie cutter and not necessarily cozy like a lived in apartment.

You can also look outside Villa Morra and Shopping Del Sol area for what's available.

Las Mercedes, Barrio Jara, Los Laureles, Recoletta, Herrera and other areas I know some people like Luque as well
nthnjns 1d
Yeah I just need advice on the hood...

They seem to cluster in the same area?
