Hey all considering doing 3 months in Romania. Mostly between Bucharest and Brasov. How is the english there? Is it easy to meet locals via english or is romanian skills a must? I speak Spanish & Portugeuse fluently so I think Romanian would be doable to pick up but would probably need a year or so. Let me know your thoughts and any tips on how to select betweent the two cities.

Can’t speak about Brasov but my experience in Bucharest was pleasantly surprising - regarding young people or people working in services almost everyone I met spoke decent English

My guess is you can befriend them individually but if you try to befriend an entire group they won’t like having to speak English just for you

There are plenty of english speakers in both cities. Actually lots of people from Bucharest moved in Brasov. You can get away easily only with english.
